I wonder how we got over Kean not having a pro license, looking at the list he doesnt appear to have one?

Maybe he falls into the category of having been pre-pro license, as there are were current PL managers who do not have the qualification but have been around for so long it doesn't matter.

He was deemed to be the manager when Coleman took over at Fulham because Coleman didn't have the qualifications needed.

I couldn't care less if he has a piece of paper that says he can do the job, his on the sideline performances and decisions are those which need to be considered now and I am still to be impressed, especially by his Substitutions.

Julie Chipchase

I would love her to be our new manager. Put all the long ball theories to the test ;)

I have looked on the list both England and abroad, his name is not there, google it yourself!

The rules:

The UEFA Pro Licence is required by every person who wishes to manage a club in the Premier League on a permanent basis (i.e. more than 12 weeks – the amount of time an unqualified caretaker manager is allowed to take control)

There is no way that Kean can be in charge of Blackburn Rovers if he did not have the license. When Ince was manager it was mentioned in the FIRST press conference. I'd take the wiki article with a pinch of salt.

The list goes to 2009 and here is the latest intake.

The Pro Licence takes a year to complete and the following coaches hope to complete the course in the summer of 2010:

Nigel Adkins, Frankie Bunn, Julie Chipchase, Bobby Davison, Roberto Di Matteo, Sean Dyche, Paul Hart, Keith Hill, Damien Matthew, Eddie Newton, Thorvaldur Orlygsson, Tony Parks, John Pemberton, Gus Poyet, Steve Staunton, Willum Thor Thorsson, Paul Tisdale.

Have you looked at Scotlands list ?

Read an article where Craig Brown mentioned that he worked with Kean, Black and McKinley in Belfast on coaching courses, so checked the Irish FA, Michael Appleton for example has the UEFA Pro license, cant see that mentioned anywhere else, Ill try to find Kean on there.

EDIT: http://www.irishfa.com/the-ifa/item/4004/top-coaches-in-town-for-coaching-courses/?keywords=craig+brown+course

Meanwhile 25 coaches are taking the Pro Licence course including former Northern Ireland international, Kevin Wilson; ex Scotland and current Fulham coach, Billy McKinley; ex England international and current Norwich coach, Lee Clarke and Ricardo Monaz

Thats the course Brown mentioned and good old Billy was there too, getting closer ;)

EDIT 3- http://www.irishfa.com/fs/doc/IFA_National_Coaching_Booklet.pdf

Found him under guest lecturers of the Irish FA Kean is listed as

Kelbo - looking at some of these characters, not sure just how 'sacred' The Pro Licence can be !

Listening to Sams video from this morning on Sky, management is about the whole running of the club in terms of the football side, man management Etc, coaching represents around 10% of your duties.

One of the problems Kean seems to having is finding a balance, he remedies one failing but that only enhances another and so on, three games in the next five weeks should iron out a lot of the problems, or is the problem Jensen, an awful lot seems to have gone off course since he arrived.

You may have a point there and not one I had given due consideration to.

Where did I say I was a big Steve Kean fan?

I'm just sick of people talking about fat Sam, for better or worse he's gone and hopefully won't ever be back.

Yes he probably would have kept us up but his style was awful to watch.

We have been poor the last couple of games but no worse than west ham at home last season and the Liverpool game was the best I have seen us play in years.

"for better or worse he's gone and hopefully won't ever be back. True colours there I think!

Sam came up on the Newcastle game thread because people were saying" its as bad as Sam".

I agree with you. Lets talk about Kean. He should never have been appointed, he's bloody useless, let's find a real manager ---quick.

Venkys part rationalised Sam's axing by talking about the 'big decisions'.

I know it's early days, but not sure Kean has got his 'big decisions' right.

New, and no doubt expensive, contracts for Salgado, Roberts, Nelsen (was it really needed yet at his age unless to 'quieten' the influential voices) and Samba (I argued for this but based on performances since................). Some would argue rash decisions that will impinge heavily on the club's finances and future ability in the market.

Transfer window: EDH out (how we might need his experience and possession skills), RSC - yes we all know he's good IF fit but as some commented yesterday, class but glass; for that money, we should have had someone with almost guaranteed fitness who we knew with certainty would give us at least games and, hopefully, a few goals, Jones - another expensive loan, sorry but don't see this guy having any impact of significance, just adding to our midfield mediocrity and finally, two for the future who most likely will not be of benefit this season. IMO, not a good window for our manager.

Coach / assistant manager - we are told Kean didn't even know the guy. Should have gone for a wise old head, proven in the EPL, move quickly enough, we could have got Clarke, Sbragia was another alternative. Certainly, so far, not seen any positive influence from JJ and our manager still seems lost in some of his decision making.

IMO, not a lot of cause for optimism.

So to recap Steve Kean has no Uefa Pro Licence and has hoodwinked the FA when he was appointed as well as the Irish FA when he masqueraded as a certified coach and gave a lecture?

Presumably Lord Lucan attended the course and came on Shergar?

Exactly. Arsenal's net transfer spend is admirable but they spend plenty of money in other areas. And they can play attractive football knowing there's a financial fall back if things go so well. Comparing the way we operate with the way they operate is pointless, although we can try and learn a few lessons from them.

I agree. Arsenal buy their youngsters and pay big money for them. They then integrate them over a period of years or sell on the ones that are not quite up to it. It takes big investment to operate that way and relies on big income from sponsorship, TV, Champions League football, the price of their season tickets and the capacity of their ground.

why post a "none" post, suggests zero credibility

You must get real here, someone posted the players were behind Kean, I argued, really?, are you sure?

There are times when you cant say things on a messageboard, you have been forewarned, when the ###### hits the fan you will realise who was correct!

I do think some people are going a bit overboard about judging him now - he does need time and also being his first management job you would think/expect him to be learning and making mistakes farily frequently.

Sorry John, but Kean can go learn and make his mistakes somewhere else, as we need the finished product.

Let me put it to you another way do you have bad days at work and say things in the heat of the moment, I do all the time. So when we hear 5 players will be handing in transfer requests and none do, I do believe 5 players may have said they were considering their futures- BUT saying and doing are two different things and if we win the next two games I'm sure the players will say different things. On the record at least five players have praised Kean and the work he has done.
