I hate the pettiness around here at times, perfectly demonstrated once again by Chaddy with the line 'I hope the Sam Allardyce hatred are happy'

Please tell me Chaddy how many people on this board championed sacking Sam and replacing him with a coach?

So many things to consider at the moment. Results have been poor and performances have been similar. Maybe we had some initial success when Kean took over simply because we took teams by surprise. They didn't expect 'park the bus' Rovers to actually play on the front foot. Maybe now other sides are expecting a more gung-ho approach from us and we are being found out. Kean needs to address our fragility at the back and build from there.

Sadly for him his January signings haven't done him any favours yet. He needed to make a splash with any new faces but they haven't lifted what was in all truth, a very ordinary squad.

Kean was magnificent as a well spoken and articulate figure when the takeover madness ensued. He managed to give our attempts to sign Ronaldinho a little credibility and his professional approach helped nullify some of the ridicule. Not all, but some. Sadly for him i think he has been let down in the appointment of John Jensen. He really needed someone he could trust and someone with real experience to guide him. Keans appointment had very strong whiffs of underhand tactics. I think his name is not particularly well regarded in many circles. Maybe this, plus the manner of Sam's departure made it difficult appointing an old head. Who knows?

I realise Sam would have kept us safe. I know that we'd have more points on the board under his management for sure. But i always come back to the same thought, football is entertainment. Would it be worth it just to stay in the premier league but playing poorly? I honestly haven't got an answer to that. The consequences dictate a logical response i guess. But is it gratifying to pay your money and not be entertained? I know someone will point out that we are hardly being entertained with results like today. I understand that completely. But seems pretty likely Kean is in the job for a wee while yet. We just have to hope he manages to learn his mistakes quickly.

none is the answer!

but there is a saying 'be careful what you wish for'

we needed a proven PL manager to replaced BS. at the time that is why I said we should have gone and got Martin Jol or Sve as manager but we appointed Kean as manager

Jol was the obvious choice, on the night of Sams departure I was at Ewood along with a few members of this messageboard and everyone seemed to think Jol was the right man and it was unthinkable that Kean would take over. I doubt many of us had even heard of him.

lets face it we have been here before and know what happened.

Its a real possibility we could go down, but the next two games are winable so best wait.

Kean start off a bit of a embarrassment and its starting to turn into a big embarrassment

Hopefully he can turn it around but terrible situation Rovers are in now.

That's what we were saying at work, the day after we sack Big Sam. Alot of us were saying either Jol, Sven and Bilic but not Kean tho. Kean has only been a number 2 or FTC but never been a manager. It's a massive step up from that role to manager at any level.

Venky's have backed themselves into a corner by publicly stating he won't be sacked. Will be interesting to see which will hurt their pride more -

First Indian owners of a Premier League club relegated in their first season - having been in the top half when they took over.

Sacking the manager they said was unsackable.

Venkys have really trapped themselves in a corner over kean. They have come out and said he is unsackable, do they stick to their words or do they do the right thing and bring in a proper manage who can manage a football team and demand the respect of his peers.

Clearly they don't care what people think about them because they change their party line every 5 minutes, so I doubt sacking Kean will be too much of a problem for them.

Kean needs to go, it's not just the tactics, but the complete demoralisation of the team. All our players seem out of form. Robinson and Nelsen are the only 2 players with any degree of consistency. He's been lucky to have Hoilett playing at the top of his game in previous games where we've managed to win, he hasn't managed to get anyone else playing well besides him.

Question - if Kean goes, who would want this job ?

A job, where, many people think, the buying and selling of players is no longer under the control of the manager.

Can anyone think of a more unstable PL club at this time ?

The stupidity and naivety of a) sacking Allardyce and b)appointing Kean is now coming home to roost,(no pun intended).

In an unusually competitive league we look a good bet for the drop and, in my opinion, unless decisive action is taken we will probably be playing in the Championship next season.

Even a new, experienced manager will have their work cut out now but it would give us a fighting chance.

Kean, Venkys and Anderson are out of their depth, thay can talk the talk but cant walk the walk!!

today i had, what i somewhat felt, was a weird notion, it was the thought of kean as a politician. The underlined in your post, just emphasized my kinda wierd feeling.

it seems too political, there are different parties, that need their interests being handled, some of the time those interests actually conflict. We actually have a manager talking and looking like a politician, in his ugly suit, while standing on the sideline.

Prior to that, we had some grinders at the club, no conflict of interest, just peole who knew what mattered. It wasnt about saying the right things, its was about doing them and just get stuck in. It wasnt always pretty, but nonetheless effecient enough to carry us through.

thats the difference right there, the one set of people are a bunch of talkers, from kean about ambition and position, to the raos about transfers. while their counterparts were the do´ers and kept things tight and did what was necessary.

I rememeber reading kevin keagan book, one thing that struck out in that book and actually the one thing i remember, was him stating, that he hated those types in the local pub, who talked about how good they could have been, with their what ifs. He hated the talkers, because he himself stepped up, and actually did it.

perhaps jerome, the rao´s, kean and kentaro, are having a get-toghether at the local, where the subject at hand, is, the what ifs..

Sorry, Kean mate, but I'm losing faith in ya fast. I decided to give you a chance, and you were like a breath of fresh air with the games against Liverpool & WBA home & away. Since then, something has gone seriously wrong. We look as clueless in open play as we did under Sam, except we aren't grinding out results. Stop screwing around with the team and keep it simple.

And what do you see in Andrews? Although I could ask the last two managers the same...

Martin Jol or Bilic would be the men for me...

Bilic would get the best out of Kalinic and play to his strenghts. and could attract some good talent from Eastern Europe for the club.

Jol would play good football and has good contacts from all round Europe and has worked in the PL before and Manage in Europe, so would bring in alot of Experience. Which is what we need asap!

I would agree with Jol on the basis of his Premier League pedigree.

As Bilic has no such experience I'm not sure he'd be the right man at this time.

I know he divides opinions but I also think O'Neil would be a good shout

Any new manager coming in now would have to be superman to turn this round.

There is no real time to assess the strengths and the many weaknesses of the squad, before the final run in.

Even worse there is no transfer window to address the problems that a new manager finds.

I fear we are going down......and it will happen to us without much sympathy from outside of Ewood Park given all the huhaa that has gone on.

Some may argue we bloody well deserve it, indeed that appears to be the opinion of a number of fans on this message board.

Sam must be chuffed!!!

And dont try and tell me he wont be, because he'll be laughing his fat backside off, make no mistake.

But Bilic has played in the PL with Everton and West ham united. and has been a international manager with Croatia sice 2006.

Mark Hughes didn't have any Pl Manager experience but did have experience of playing for rovers and other PL clubs aswell. And he only manage at the International level with Wales. HE DID A GREAT JOB HERE AS MANAGER and would have him back anyday.

Believe me, I would prefer Bilic to Kean.

Hughes came in much earlier in the season following Souness' departure.

It's just about the timing and being able to hit the ground running.

I don't think we would deserve it but I'm damn sure our owners would deserve it. They are so bloody thick it makes you want to weep. Taking advice from a renowned spiv, every decision they have made has been the wrong one. Lord knows what the three of them would have done if they hadn't inherited Daddy's company when the Indian economy was going ballistic. I've never been as angry with anybody as I am with this trio of numpties (aided and abetted by The Spiv )!!!
