martonrover Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 just read through the comments of our owners when they said his job is secure "no matter what happens" for the next 2 and a half years...........we are screwed, unless they left themselves a loophole by not saying "in his job as manager". just checked the odds he is the 7th safest manager in his job at the minute which given current form and league position should make no sense at all. They also said that we definitely weren't after Ronaldinho. The penny will drop eventually that they've been badly advised / cocked up by appointing Kean and he will go. Relegation wouldn't do Barry White's image any good and I would imagine he will currently have his Brother in a full nelson!
Kelbo Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Very good points Kelbo. My opinion is that Kean got lucky with that 7-1 hammering at Old Trafford but that there is no way even if he was 100% lucky that his position in English football can be salvaged- mud sticks and all that. However, he and Jensen are internationally mobile and are clearly comfortable working in the Kentaro system. So the future for them is nowhere near as bleak post-Ewood as you are suggesting. Yes, I was primarily thinking of the game here in England, yet again though, many foreign managers will be aware of what ha happened at Rovers!
mattyc2422 Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 I've tried to give Kean as much time as reasonably possible, but the tactics against Villa were just diabolical. Move him on. And his mates.
Majiball Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 He's on the sofa. SKy sports 1 as we speak. Apparently we were trying to get the first goal.
chaddyrovers Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 SK is loving the rovers manager job and looking forward to the Fulham game. He thought we need the first goal yesterday and things could have been different. Just said on GOS on sky
Bobby G Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 We were looking for the first goal? Where? In our own penalty box? Utter rubbish. Its comments like this which drive sane football supporters crazy. Be honest for once.
OsloRover Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 SK's prem record so far: Played:11 W3 D2 L6 Points = 11 (1 point per game) GD 13-19 Big Sam's record this season: Played:17 W6 D3 L8 GD 22-27 GD Points = 21 (1,23 points per game)
Majiball Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Apparently we are about to get the inside track on Rovers from yesterday. Tune into sky sports 1.
Backroom DE. Posted February 27, 2011 Backroom Posted February 27, 2011 For those who don't have sky sports, here's the inside track: Nobody at the club has a clue what they're doing.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 He mentioned that the club spoke to the top agents in Brazil, who had players like Robinho and Kaka on their books, so they could see what young talent is available. Obviously the press then decided that the club were chasing Kaka etc.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 From Keans own mouth: SEM were employed by the club(is he refering to the trust?)to help find a buyer for Rovers.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 The impression I've had is that they were employed to help the previous owners flog the club and that's why they were involved with Venkys.
John Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 We used to be a club run in the right way - no charisma, run by an agent. As Sir Alex said, Jerome could not pick his nose...
thenodrog Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 This is a rum do. It seems that the three most persuasive pro Kean / pro Venkey members have gone missing. I haven't heard from Buckyrover, Gav and our own Lord Haw Haw Nicko for ages. Could it be that the three of em be sipping cocktails whilst watching the sun sink over the horizon on some exclusive beach in Goa or similar?
Roversider Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 I don't give a damm about Kean's future career. The alleged 'backstabbing' immediately turned me off this guy and the more I see and hear of him, the more I think that he's a bullsh1tter who got unbelievably lucky and is now so much out of his depth that it's horrendously startling. All I care about is the future of Rovers which at the moment looks grim. So you extrapolate alleged to make a decision on Kean? I hope you are never in a position of a Judge, I thought facts were required before finding a man guilty. Perhaps its a case of 'we'll give him a fair trial and then hang him". Allardyce must have thought positively about him when he appointed him. Now whether he can make the transition from coach to manager has yet to be proven, however I am one of those who desperately wants him to succeed otherwise we will all pay a price.
Gamst Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 I wonder if this is the quickest a manager has ever managed to turn the entire support of a team against him. 11 played and performances are so poor that pretty much every fan unanimously wants him out. Good going Steve.
John Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Some of the comments were vicious yesterday - the way in which he got appointed is a major factor.
Amo Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Some of the comments were vicious yesterday - the way in which he got appointed is a major factor. Comments from who? Other PL managers? That's a laugh. They'd all step over their own granny to get a better job.
Bobby G Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 No I dont think they would. Football like life is a small world. You cant get away with stepping on people who are BIGGER than you and get away with it. Bigger people have bigger friends. Thats a reality. Im not sure how many friends Kean has made through his pressers.
chaddyrovers Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Steve Kean interview on Goals on Sunday Video:- http://aggbot.com/link.php?id=12654593&r=tw&c=38 Written:- http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11676_6777567,00.html the most interesting bit of the interview for me was that Rovers owners use Kentaro and Jerome Anderson to find a buyer for the club. Also this bit in the written interview where it says 'Kean himself is here for the forseeable future having been publicly assured by the club's owner Anuradha Desai that he will be in charge at least to the end of the season.' I thought he had a contract for 2 and half contract and not till the end of the season. Maybe the owners will review his position at the end of the season insert into the contract that he signed. Maybe the owners have somebody line up as manager to take over in the summer. (I hope so) Plus John Jensen is only till the end of the season aswell. intersting.
Backroom DE. Posted February 27, 2011 Backroom Posted February 27, 2011 Venky's words and assurances mean nothing. They have no credibility whatsoever. If Kean was sacked tomorrow it wouldn't surprise me one bit.
Uddersfelt Blue Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Venky's words and assurances mean nothing. They have no credibility whatsoever. If Kean was sacked tomorrow it wouldn't surprise me one bit. 50/1 with William Hill. Just had some of that
BRFC1995 Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 50/1 with William Hill. Just had some of that thats a mental price, without the daft comments of our crazy owners that price should be around 8/1.........a defeat against fulham however and i'll be all over that price regardless of dozy soundbites about being unsackable.
