Miker Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 I read that Goulon is back. I'd like to see either him or Linganzi in the first 11 today.

Majiball Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Any idea whether Samba plays? I should bloody hope he can play, other wise what are we paying him for?
Bobby G Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Goulon is probably back in the squad. But cant see him thrown into the deep end.
Stuart Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 He will be having a fitness test. I should bloody hope he can play, other wise what are we paying him for? Hope this isn't another Roque road we are going down. If he captains the side to a win today all could be forgiven/forgotten. Messing about having "little niggles" during January, will add pressure and speculation we don't need.
philipl Posted January 1, 2011 Author Posted January 1, 2011 Interesting to see the reactions on here towards Kean either way, I doubt he will ever win some over but a heavy defeat would make a lot of people horget a great and deserved win at WBA. I'm not too confident but would have been even less so under Sam as this was a nailed on loss IMO, at least I now feel we may go for it. I'm just ready for the inevitable disappointment when I see Dunn's name on the teamsheet. If we lose honourably, it will be seen as continuing progress (as of course would a draw or a win). If we repeat the Stoke performance, West Brom could be seen as just a welcome happy blip achieved against a team rapidly falling down the table.

Its my new year resolution to produce as many awful jokes as possible.
Roost Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 I was attempting to be humourous, since he said can he play I took that as can he play football? Its my new year resolution to produce as many awful jokes as possible. Good start
47er Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 If we lose this match will Kean get hung, drawn and quartered again? I'm not sure if it's fair to judge him given the personnel we have out at the moment. Good to hear about Sunderland having their own injury problems though, gives me some hope. If we win this match will Kean be hailed as the Messiah? The whole point is that we shouldn't be making judgements on a week by week basis. It happened regularly with Sam as manager and it was destabilising. After a woeful start the heat was taken off Kean by a great performance from the lads. We should sit back and wait now till we get reinforcements. If they are of a poor quality the scepticism will return.
Kelbo Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 --------------------------Bunn -----------Hanley----Nelsen----Givet ---Emerton----Dunn-----MGP-------Olsson ----------Hoilett------------------E Diouf ------------------------M Diouf Samba for Hanley if fit Would be worried about lack of pace in back three, is Bent fit?
philipl Posted January 1, 2011 Author Posted January 1, 2011 Well this is certainly a match of the walking wounded. Sunderland have 7 out or doubtful and we have 9 out or doubtful.
Bobby G Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 That would be the point of having an extra man for cover.
Stuart Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 I was attempting to be humourous, since he said can he play I took that as can he play football? Its my new year resolution to produce as many awful jokes as possible. To be honest my comment was more generic. But a heads-up next time would be good!
Majiball Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 If we win this match will Kean be hailed as the Messiah? If I see a column of fire collect the ball on the half way line and decimate the Sunderland defence before sloting it in the net, then I will be the first person to start worshipping him. To be honest my comment was more generic. But a heads-up next time would be good! Fair do's I will locate a rubbish joke emoticon. Happy New year.
Presty On Tour Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Good record here and I have so much dislike for Bruce and Sunderland. Lets continue where we left off at the Hawthorns!
67splitscreen Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Would be worried about lack of pace in back three, is Bent fit? Studs down the back of the achilles should slow him down enough.
Kelbo Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Studs down the back of the achilles should slow him down enough. Have we got Keeley back?
67splitscreen Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 To bloody soft now a days, good old ali studs roughed up a bit before you got on the turf, lovely!
Backroom Tom Posted January 1, 2011 Backroom Posted January 1, 2011 I read that Goulon is back. I'd like to see either him or Linganzi in the first 11 today. I'm actually relieved to see he has been injured and just deemed not good enough. I agree that either of them should be in before Dunn
philipl Posted January 1, 2011 Author Posted January 1, 2011 The official site is having a brain storm- seem to have got Stoke and Sunderland confused! Actually they have put up the Stoke game team sheets under the Sunderland heading. It is still a bit early for team sheets. Anyway, I think we can all feel grateful Brunt was suspended for our visit to the Baggies judging by what he is doing to Man U.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 A point would be great but I can see Bent and Gyan getting a few with so many players out.
J*B Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Not on TV anywhere? Could have sworn this match was picked!
Pete1981 Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Samba has failed fitness test CryerRovers Andrew Cryer Samba failed fitness test for Rovers at Sunderland - Hanley expected at right back and Givet in the middle
hollowsr Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Not on TV anywhere? Could have sworn this match was picked! are you not thinking of game earlier in the season?? Samba failed fitness test according to Andy Cryer
RovertheHill Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 are you not thinking of game earlier in the season?? Samba failed fitness test according to Andy Cryer Hmm, has he failed a fitness test or has he "failed" a fitness test?
