Bobby G Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Hanley at right back with Samba failing another test. Its Givet and Nelsen in the middle. Bunn - Hanley, Givet, Nelsen, Olsson - El Hadji, Emo, Dunn, MGP, Junior - Mame We have one hell of a weak bench today.
Dunnfc Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 We are either going to win by 1-0 because we've smashed it or get thumped! Weak team , lack of pace at the back, could we not have played chimbonda for christ sake at rb? No pace at the back, Centre Midfield no steel or pace. Just a rapid strike force... Im being brave 1-0 Rovers!
Amo Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Sadly, I had a feeling Kean wouldn't change that midfield.
rovers1995 Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Does anyone know whether this match is on at the fox and hounds today?
Backroom Tom Posted January 1, 2011 Backroom Posted January 1, 2011 *See's Dunn's name* *sigh* At least Junior gets his start
hollowsr Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Sadly, I had a feeling Kean wouldn't change that midfield. With who??
philipl Posted January 1, 2011 Author Posted January 1, 2011 SUNDERLAND: Gordon, Bardsley, Richardson, Malbranque, Henderson, Bent, Welbeck, Meyler, Bramble ©, Elmohamady, Ferdinand. Subs: Mignolet, Angeleri, Da Silva, Riveros, Gyan, Cook, Zenden. ROVERS: Bunn, Hanley, Nelsen ©, Givet, Olsson, Hoilett, Emerton, Dunn, Pedersen, EH Diouf, MB Diouf. Subs: Fielding, Linganzi, Doran, Benjani, Goulon, Morris, Lowe. The full sides- no Catermole for them but Gyan who was rated doubtful makes their bench. Our bench looks like six kids and a wicked uncle. Nine out for the Rovers today through injuries and suspensions so that bench is actually a tribute to the strength in depth.
Valois Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Hanley at right back with Samba failing another test. Its Givet and Nelsen in the middle. Bunn - Hanley, Givet, Nelsen, Olsson - El Hadji, Emo, Dunn, MGP, Junior - Mame We have one hell of a weak bench today. We do have 8 of the first team squad injured. Attacking lineup again, maybe attack will be the best form of defence again given the injuries we have, no point sitting back and getting beat 1-0, lets go for it again. Come on the Rovers.
Pete1981 Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 CryerRovers Andrew Cryer Samba didn't travel in the end. Club want to give him a couple more days to recover from ankle injury Andy Cryer needs to make up his mind, did he fail a fitness test or not
Commondore Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 That's a very weak-looking lineup, let's hope our young players step up... I notice Blackman is not among the 18, I thought he was back from loan?

neophox Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Has Chimbonda left the club, he can't even make the bench with 9 players out? I think this is the best we can come up with at the moment, but I hope to see Morris and maybe a cameo appearance by Linganzi in the last 20 mins for Dunn.
riverside returns Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 failed the mental test, do i want to play?
Valois Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Pascal is crap, and we have told him he is not wanted, why would you want a player who is wanted playing? Yeah its a weak lineup and bench, but we all knew it was going to be given the injuries and suspensions. I think Blackman is still at Motherwell. Anyone know wmuch about the young lad Jason Lowe?
chris Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Correct me if I'm wrong but our whole team cost half as much as Darren Bent alone When you think about that, thank god we have investment coming no matter how much you dislike Venky. So depressing neing a Rovers supporter sometimes. Anyway, might win, will not hold it again Kean if we don't, we just look too weak.
RoverRich Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 I know it says Hanley expected at right back but I think I would rather see Emerton and Givet as the full backs and push Olsson up to left wing. Leave Dunn and Pedersen in the middle (risky I know!) but sit them a bit deeper and leave Junior or El-Hadji to play off Mame. I think that would be better but it does leave us without a defensive midfielder which Emerton can provide, although Hanley doesn't strike me as a right back so I think the centre would suit him better. Anyway, thats just my opinion. At least Junior starts and Benjani doesn't! Not our strongest line up but hopefully we can play like we did on tuesday and get something out of this. And hopefully, we don't have that much need for our subs!
Exiled_Rover Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 I wouldn't be surprised if we're playing 3-5-2 (or some sort of variation).
Tooogs Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 I wouldn't be surprised if we're playing 3-5-2 (or some sort of variation). We should have gone!
JAL Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Would love to know what Steve Kean's thoughts are on how Rovers are going to get a result at Sunderland today. Rovers need some big, big, performances from Bunn, Givet, Nelsen, Dunn, and Emmerton today.
J*B Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Anybody got something similar to a small river I could spend 2 hours of my time looking at?
