nicko Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Diplomatically put, it could be read either way. Depends what the reader WANTS to make of it to me, classic politicians answer lots of words no substance. If Sam had wanted to end the Burnley talk he could have done easily... Of course, some would say his 'agent' ended it last week. Obviously not.

Ricky Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Dropped to 3/1 second favourite on skybet. Despite being advised against it I did chuck a few quid on him at 12/1 Nicko. I'll just lay a few quid of it now to cover my bet.
Majiball Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 If Sam had wanted to end the Burnley talk he could have done easily... Of course, some would say his 'agent' ended it last week. Obviously not. Burnley would be right up Sam's street. They have good plans at present converting the CofE to an academy (pretty sure Sam would be able to help there, some way), they have money in the bank and a taste of the good time. If Sam can persuade there supposedly minted new board member to spend some of it as well they could come back quite a force, especially considering next time up all the TV money etc is theirs. Strong personnel reasons as well, I think provided Burnley are willing to indulge him he'll be there in a shot. During the BBC interview Sam made it seem pretty clear he'd be interested provided the project was good.
philipl Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Let's hope that installing a fantastic manager at the dingles is the Venky's only lasting negative "legacy" at Rovers.

Enough time for Sam to realise it is the best job for him hopefully.

nicko Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Why do you want Burnley to do well? After the abuse you got off their fans It's a good job. End of. Thanks to the Coyle man they have loads of dough and still have a good squad. Fans? Never done popularity contests, so it doesn't bother me.
andyrover Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 at least they got beat today, well done reading
Beta Ray Bill Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Phil Brown on 5 Live certainly sounded very interested in the role, and was more gushing in his praise of the club than Sam's overtures.
vinnicombe Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Is it just me, or has this chap gone strangely quiet? Sorry Nicko, New Years, time to spend with family and friends, im sure you've not been on here eith.............. oh i'm sorry. Anyway, youve done me there
vinnicombe Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Lambert, Mackay, Howe and Brown are the front runners for the Burnley job at present I am led to believe.
Kelbo Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Malky Mackay just gone to 5/1 on for Burnley job!!
A cup of beans Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11676_6638003,00.html BIG SAM ON GOALS ON SUNDAY THIS WEEKEND! could be interesting!
nicko Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Big Sam has cancelled that appearance. I think the Burnley thing is dying...for two reasons I would love to share but can't. One may become apparent shortly. The Malky Mackay option should have been sorted out today, but hasn't. I do hope nothing has gone wrong.
cruz Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Big Sam has cancelled that appearance. I think the Burnley thing is dying...for two reasons I would love to share but can't. One may become apparent shortly. A pending premiership managerial casualty maybe?
nicko Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 A pending premiership managerial casualty maybe? The mind is a funny place. It's not what is going to happen...it's what you make yourself believe is going to happen. Think you need to watch the papers in the next few days on this one.
vinnicombe Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Been led to believe Burnleys original 6 man shortlist is now down to four. One has ruled himself out, the other was ruled out by the club. Allardyce was NEVER on this shortlist.
cruz Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Some obscure international appointment somewhere hot and sunny?

Andy Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Big Sam fancying his chances at either Liverpool or Chelsea, it would seem. I'd (genuinely) love to see what he could do with a big club and think he'd change some opinions with a set of good players and money to spend. Couldn't possibly do any worse than Hodgson...
vinnicombe Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Been led to believe you don't know... Only what I've been told.
