I thought the Rao guys had been working on Ronad for months... Wasn't that what Nicko, apparently our best source just said? Now they deny any interest at all. So what are Nicko's sources then?

It looks like the Maradona thing - they try, then fail, and deny ever making a bid.

The PR team needs to be fixed extremely quickly.

Mrs D has the brothers on the naughty step this morning, tsk, tsk, tsk.

They probably realise they have lost the race to sign Ronnie and dont want to be linked to spending a lot of cash which makes business harder to do in January, I dont see us a laughing stock, just common sense really.

So are the family not telling the truth when they say it is just a rumour and that they had no interest in Ronaldhino? Could it be that one brother is going off on his own and attempting to sign players without consulting the rest of the family? Either way it suggests a complete shambles. From a Rovers point of view it would be better if this was just a story floated by agents that journalists picked up on and which has now been firmly denied by the owners.

Agents will tell you anything to try and create a bidding war for their player, I'm sure.

Floated by the agent though, probably not.

Seems to be just another media stunt by Venkys, and to give them credit its worked again.

First we had the Maradona story, now we have the Ronaldhino one, and we’re the talk of almost every football website across the world, and also the talk across many breakfast tables this morning, great publicity if you can get it......

They have give interviews to sky sports news, bbc radio 5 live, bbc lancashire and the bee. and they have sent mixed messages from the both of them.

I may be wrong but cannot recall any since the Sam sacking. A couple in the LET which have then been rehashed in other articles.

Yes I believe the venky's are lying. Very dangerous to publish 'quotes' in the media these day. Ronaldhino's agent - his own brother, said this and that, confirming interst from Roversand another un - named english club. I think there may well have been interest. But in order to 'save face, maybe at home' after being turned down, they deny any interest.

This whole saga may / should wake up the venky's - doubt it - to the reality of the media and football in general.

I miss Nicko/Roberto Policano/Unleaded

Where are u guys - working on something big and glorious?

I find this very strange with BPF (had a lot of correct info lately) and Nicko both saying we were trying.

BPF even seemed very encouraged about the January month yesterday.

If they had an interest in Ronaldinho, why not just admit it that they did but he wanted to go back to Brazil. No damage done.In fact that would reflect well on their ambitions.

What do they do instead - post it on their own Facebook & Twitter pages and then put it down as a rumour when the deal falls through.

Who the hell is advising these people? They look stupid, not Blackburn Rovers.

Can't believe the latest downer on the club.

I think it's pretty safe to assume that we Ronaldinho was approached and given the reported figures on offer would no doubt have given it some consideration. Lets be honest though, nobody really believed he would choose us over his home team or other big European teams...but it at least indicates there may be some good times ahead.

I remember being amazed when we signed Archibald on loan ..and Ardilles. That signalled a new era and remember, they came to play for Don Mckay, hardly a famous manager.

We were laughed at and ridiculed for trying to sign Lineker at the beginning of the Walker era.

I remember Saint & Greavsie moaning that Rovers had got promoted and Leicester would be much more suited to the Prem (size of support etc).

We were ridiculed for spending £3.3 million on Shearer...

I think what I am trying to say is I couldn't give a toss what other clubs and media think about Rovers, we never get any credit when we do well anyway!

We need one good signing to kick things off again....

We are Rovers, We are Rovers, no one likes us, we don't care! :brfcsmilie:

kranjar and ireland........ is what we would need.

osvaldo or Ba for striker, and we could reduce our relegation possibilty quite abit.

NO to Ronaldino!!!! NO NO NO!

We are in a mess now = not bringing in more confusion! we need stability now!

What a daft turn of events. As my wife said this morning, Mrs Desai has quite probably bollocked flamboyant Rao brother and made one of them deny the story...

Oh, and Philip doing a Rafa rant... Kean a Kentaro client? And? What ARE you suggesting? Disingenuous or what?

Kean is actually a SEM client (same thing as they worked very closely together anyway) - to quote our manager below....I bet he views it as positive.

"It's something I'm proud of and glad that SEM are happy to look after me. I don't see that as anything other than positive and good for the rest of my career.

Ok, I am not going to state this as fact but my information from last night is this.

Venkys are now regretting the purchase of Blackburn Rovers and recognise that they have harmed more than helped their brand with the way they have approached things at Rovers.

On the bright side, they also now realise they have to do quite a bit more to lift both the Venkys brand and BRFC, if they dont, they can kiss goodbye to their investment. I am hearing that they may spend quite a bit more than the reported £5,000,000 - we shall see if that information is correct but the way things are going at the moment, our profile having been from a well run club to a bit of a mess, signing players is going to prove much more difficult than either they or Steve Kean would believe.

I must admit some relief that the Rao's have firmly denied any interest in Ronaldinho. The sort of money that the newspapers were talking about would have been a ridiculous outlay for a club in our position.

What is our position?

As regards our owners...we don't really have a Scooby, do we?

It is all guesswork.

I am quite astonished by how the rest of the press have missed or treated the story...

There is the quote from Ronaldinho's agent which I seem to be the only reporter to have picked up on.

The quotes from Venky's man in Brazil, who is central to the move, confirm ALL of the details and more that appeared and then disappeared on the Venky's website.

There have been contacts with the Ronaldinho camp for weeks/months. Now is the decision time.

The Raos/Venky's do get themselves in a twist at times as we have seen. But there are also people in the media who seem intent to trip them up.

We already know there are people here who do the same for their own personal reasons.

The bottom line is what the headline in the paper says - It's the beach or Blackburn.

Those in contact with people who matter in the move [and I don't mean me] know even more about what is going on and why.

This is NOT a publicity stunt. If so they would have leaked it when it began. This sneaked out a couple of times before and was hastily denied when I spoke to people.

However the cat came out of the bag yesterday and won't go away now.

I hate to get all historic on you, but when Jack Walker came in he tried to buy Gary Lineker. Everyone, including Spurs and Lineker and the papers who missed THAT story, laughed.

What happened after that again...?
