Sam,

The people posting 'This is going to fail' are merely playing the percentages.

The fact is that even if he had the contract in front of him, pen in hand, sat in the Ewood boardroom, it would still be considered an unlikely deal. This would be an unbelievable deal for the club. Jim and the others are just allowing themselves the chance to make the disappointment of their fellow fans even worse if this doesn't happen. Sad really.

Havent seen you this positive in å while bpf!

I know it is still unlikely mate, but the fact of the matter is a bid has been lodged hasnt it?

It doesn't appear to be the usual PR spin like Syed and Beckham etc...

I don't quite see why anyone would want it to fail, even more so to say 'I told you so'.

We can all dream!

And this is just the interest this has caused on a message board, imagine the impact it would make if he signed. We would sell out every home game, shirt sales are going to pay off the deal alone.

you could hear the stampede to the clubshop from a mile away the minute the transfer (if) is announced

I've been off work for two weeks, it does wonders :P

I'm just hoping that this comes off, there could be a lot more bad news around the corner if this has all been for nothing.

There is a strong possibility of this happening, I can promise you that.

I would love a fully fit and committed Ronaldinho to sign for Rovers, bags of ability, vision and goals in him too, however, please heed my warning about the temperament and Character of Brazilian footballers, if things dont go well, they really do sulk and if we ever get in a dogfight, he will not be the player we want on our side, when things go wrong we want a battler, I really hope I am wrong and I, like the rest of us can enjoy his undoubted skills at Ewood!

I'm back in with the terrors tomorrow and should really get an early night!

A likely occurrence

It's all fiction and fantasy so how does that make you feel good ?

You seem to feel pretty good when you post about Labour winning the next election - and that's as much fiction and fantasy as us signing Ronaldinho, Messi, Pele, Maradona, Tom Finney, Eusebio, Di Stefano, Puskas and Franz Beckenbauer. :P

I'd rather we were linked to players of Ronaldinho's standing than another Keith Andrews tbh ....

The issue as I see it is what sort of a screwed up mess of a club is Ronaldinho going to be joining?

You tell me. I agree there's work to be done, but if we can add good players to the squad then at least that will count for something. Hopefully the dust will settle off the pitch eventually as well as people adapt to their new 'surroundings'. Besides, not sure Ronaldinho is after more than proving a point in the PL and after a final big paycheck, so maybe he doesn't know what 'sort of a screwed up mess of a club' he'll be joining.

Let's hope so ;)

Ultimately if you try to build top down you run the serious risk of destabalising what you have got which has happened at a number of clubs that have tried this.

You don't always need big name players if you are well managed and motivated as our friends at Bloomfield Road will testify.

The money could be put to much better use - and frankly if we were going to go down the star signing route I'd prefer Beckham - at least he'd try and be a good dressing room influence !

I certainly don't want the club to fail and I think there is a very real chance of the transfer of Ronaldhino to Rovers happening.

I was aware that there was a high probability that one of the Rao brothers was going to deny the transfer in public last night which is why I posted the warning that the mood might change 30 minutes before the Sun's article appeared.

The issue as I see it is what sort of a screwed up mess of a club is Ronaldinho going to be joining?

There is track record of EPL clubs going down with their superstar signings on board- ask Steve Gibson and Boro were well managed compared with what is going on in whatever/wherever currently passes for the locus of control at Rovers at present.

I think your concerns are warranted, as are many other worries regarding this regime however, the majority of the fears surrounding Venkys were:

A: They had no cash

B: They wouldnt spend what cash they had

Signing Ronaldinho, plus several other decent premiership standard players would signal the influx of new players this team has been crying out for.

There is a track record of EPL clubs spending and going down

But there is a bigger track record of clubs not spending and going down.

If Ronaldinho doesnt sign then there is no harm done. I still have more interest in the Charlie Adam deals and striker deals, however, if this does prove anything it is that Venky's do have cash and ambition. Two things this club had been without for 6/7 years.

We need the battling midfielder as well.

Anyone get the feeling we are doing this deal first in order to help us with our other targets.

Just for example, I'm not saying this is the case but it's a good example. Sidwell was being talked about today and SSN said that he was looking at other options before signing for west ham. Surely if we happened to be in fr him the chance to play alongside ronaldinho could sway it.

Same thing could go for o'hara.

I can't help but think that saying "Ronaldinho will never join. It is stupid" are just saying so because they are scared out of their pants of the prospect of actually getting excited, and then find out they are wrong.

My ex girlfriend was like that, and it was a true nightmare. So what if Ronaldinho doesn't sign? At least we are trying.

This is exactly it. How could this not be a positive signing for Rovers. So what if he doesn't hit the hights of his Barcelona days. He is a billion times better than what we have. I know i have been saying Dunn is past it but that is becuase of his injuries and not his age. I hope everyone who has been supporting Dunn and sticking up for his performances aren't classin Ronaldinho as past it. Ronaldinho would be a great signing and would increase the profile of the club countless times over. The man IS a global brand.

To dare is to dream.

BPF

What sort of bad news do you see coming if this fails?

Hope it never comes to light my friend. I think if Ronnie signs then it won't.

"Venky's Brazilian man" as he is known on here is doing all that he can and remains confident.

Should have explained that. I was just sent that message, if there really is any real update, Nicko will have had it before me.

I don't think our fans would bother making an excuse, it's not like being rejected by a superstar, he's a kid.

I just looked on the site where the link was and couldn't find the story our fan posted myself so I have no idea really.

I'm sure Nicko will shed some light.

A bit of a generalisation that. I've read that Roanaldinho has struggled but not sulked. Pele was before my time but he wasn't a sulker, little Juninho ran his socks off for Boro and Dunga would have given Souey a good battle in midfield.
