Damien Duff has been past his sell by date for many seasons now and I wouldn’t waste the wages on him to be honest. He was a great player for us, but that was coached out of him at Chelsea, leave him alone, not worth the wages.

Many of us can't see the Ronaldinho bid going through, but lets hope that money is put aside for a good esablished central midfield player.

But he's club grown to blackburn and we'll need him next year when we are in europe.

Your last two gates were in the 20-21,000 region.

Hence the SCOPE for 'up to 10,000' remark.

Keep up.

If your season fizzled out the gates would be lucky to get to 20,000. Times are hard.

If you get the Ronnie boy in they will be bursting to get in.

Think positive for once.

The attendance on the last 2 games were

West Ham 21,934 (joint lowest of the season- first game after Allardyce sacking)

Stoke 25,440

The average last season was 25,428 and the effective capacity at Ewood is 30,600 so there are just 5,000 empty places on average.

The average thus far this season is 23,836 but as has been pointed out, some of the higher away gate teams like Liverpool, Man U and Newcastle have yet to call plus there are the Bolton and Blackpool home derbies remaining.

I can't see Allardyce would have wanted to blow his budget on him (too much like another Benny imo) but to have him given as an 'extra' he'd have been the best man around to get the maximum out of him.

Whilst not upset by Allardyce's sacking I have to agree with that. Sam's king size ego weould seemingly make him the perfict fit to handle a player of Ronaldinho's stature. I think it's nonsense to say Sam wouldn't have jumped at the chance of signing him.

The problem remains however that he would have had to completely alter his preferred style of play to get the best out of the player.

Ok so to summarise....

We have made an offer of around £130k a week to Ronaldinho for rest of season and then around £160k a week for years 2 & 3 – to be paid for by the Rao brothers own personal cash – and not affecting budgets.

We are showing an interest in Damien Duff (approach made – 11 o’clocker to follow), Charlie Adam & RSC on loan + another 3 possibles on the list.

We have 3 kids on a separate ‘young talent’ list - Ruben Rochina of Barca (19 year old striker), Romeu (Defensive mid - Got injured other day) and 1 other.

We hope to have 3 in by weekend, possibly 5 by end of Jan

Kean has also already spoke about making signings of ‘top 6 quality’ in jan & then further in summer………EXCITING!!!

Abit busier transfer window that worrying about losing your best players eh? Instead we are speculation whether or not we can sign one of the worlds best players!! Bizarre!

You can only laugh at how pedantic people are being regarding this 10,000 figure.

RONALDINHO WOULD ADD A FAIR FEW THOUSAND TO OUR ATTENDANCE, AND CERTAINLY COULD POTENTIALLY GET CLOSE TO 10,000 MORE ROVERS FANS INTO THE GROUND EVERY WEEK!

Full marks to that daft old hack too for detecting the seriousness of Jacks intent!

Unfortunately for the same daft old hack Linekar didn't turn up either. :)

The bid was made. The first of many earth-shakers. Never said he would sign. Found out what a twerp Lineker [note spelling] was as he reacted the way he did.

Every Rovers story after that was waved through by the paper as well and much humble pie was eaten in the Sun's London HQ.

Which paper do I read to get the most truthful version of events then?

According to this (league table of proved rumours) you should read the Guardian (as if you didn't know they had the best sports pages anyway)

http://www.footballtransferleague.co.uk/newspaper_statistics.aspx

The papers to avoid for accuracy seem to be the Mirror, NOTW, DM and The People (which is the least accurate paper of them all). ^_^

The Guardian?

Pass me my green tea...

Those liberal fakes could not find their ass in the dark.

If you're trying to suggest that attendances are higher than nicko is making out then the Stoke game is hardly a reliable indicator being the traditional Boxing Day home Holiday fixture.

In fact you could probably argue 25440 was a very poor attendance for that particular fixture - normally you would expect the ground to be all but full.

So, up to now...

We've made a bid for Ronaldinho - who most think wont be coming.

We're talking to RSC who hasn't played or been fit since he left Ewood Park.

We're thinking about making a bid for Adam [who some, like me, don't think is actually that great].

We're looking at a young lad who's in Braca's "C" team.

Is this right then? If so, will someone let me know when we've appointed a manager and brought in a few players who can get us out of this relegation battle.

Thats a quality little find.

Nicko you need to change your sig from 1 in 20 to 1 in 5 sensationalist scribbler, well done on the promotion chap. ;)

The scope for Venkys to expand with Ronnie is massive, I don't think many people are getting what this would do for them, and by association, for us.

2 weeks ago nobody in Brazil, or in any South American country, really knew who Venkys were. Or us, for that matter. We don't have many South American fans on here do we? Now imagine 'Mr Brazil' signs for us. He's the Real Joga Bonito man, the Brazillians can't get enough of him. There would be posters of him around the world grinning in a Rovers top, soon to be sponsored by Venkys I would expect. You can't really put a price on the amount of publicity and interest that would be generated overseas alone, not to mention on the playing side of things, as already mentioned. Think of all the indirect consequences, can you imagine the scramble to get shirt sponsorship or kit manufacturer if we had Ronnie modelling it? People would be queueing up to pay big money to sponsor us because they know how popular Ronaldinho is, not just in Brazil but around the world.

Or N'Zonzi, as he was one of our best players last season.

I may be in the minority but I dont think Nzonzi was all that last season. He was solid but nothing more. His performances were blown out of proportion a bit I think. Has decent potential but after missing 4 months now, he will definitely need to regain form and fitness.

Come on then Den, who would you like to see in?

It's easy to pour scorn without giving any proper reason why or suggesting any realistic alternatives.

Add to that interest a tour of India & Brazil with the South America's post known player!! Mega cash from tickets, sponsorships, training sessions etc. Its clear to see what they are trying to do - its bold but its at least worth a try.

I haven't watched Adam all that much but every time I see him he's holding his hand up and apologising to his team mates for some gaffe or other that he has committed.

I've seen him play a lot, and he's a very good player, but like Tugay he's not very mobile. If we can compliment him with some more athletic players, he'd be a cracking signing.
