cruz Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Maybe what Jim is trying to say is the move is doomed to fail so we should be concentrating on the real "bread and butter" of our window. It may be very likely that he is right in the thinking however, I think moves are being made for our own targets and this is something on the side. Nothing wrong with a bit of wishful thinking though. 2011 seems like there will be enough 'bread and butter' doom and gloom in everyones lives as it is so we can be forgiven for having a little dream to start the year, surely?

Bobby G Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Interesting stat I stumbled upon. We were mentioned to have been linked to Horeau from PSG. He won the most aerial duels (135) and had the most shots on target from inside the box (40) in Ligue 1 in 2010.
davulsukur Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 So our team could look like this? Robbo Salgado--Samba--Nelsen--Givet Beckham/E.H.Diouf--Adam--Pedersen--Duff Ronaldinho Santa Cruz/Kalinic ... Looks all well and nice, but still no steel in midfield, we need a player who can put a decent challenge in the middle of the park.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 I don't see there being ANY chance that we would sign both Beckham AND Ronaldinho. Quite confident it is one or the other (or neither). No, I agree, I couldn't put a '/' next to Ronaldinho though really. Dunn maybe...
den Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Come on then Den, who would you like to see in? It's easy to pour scorn without giving any proper reason why or suggesting any realistic alternatives. Well for starters Simon, was the situation that I described right or wrong? I'm actually surprised at how you have jumped into bed with Venky's as well Rev. You used to give the trustees and John Williams [who did a brilliant job], a lot of stick on here, and now you're looking at the current dabacle through starry eyes. Can't work that one out.
nicko Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Adam seems an honest, hardworking traditional British type of midfielder. Is he anything more than that? Does he have the technique and talent to match? FFS! Adam is different to just about any ordinary hard-working player you have ever had the misfortune of seeing in a Rovers midfield lately. He can play, he can pass, he can run the game, he takes and scores free kicks. The guy has been a total revelation since he went to Blackpool. Your main problem will be getting them to sell. He is terrific.
Blackpool_Rover Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Whilst I agree with you being narked at your team being undersold, as they were, you haven't sat in the top half of the table all season yet. The season has rather a long time to go and you could still be relegated (I don't see it though personally). Thanks for that but i've had a season ticket at ewood for 12 years!
thenodrog Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 If those Indians had any knowledge of what we need then how about waving all that silly money allegedly put aside for Ronaldinho into the face of Scott Parker's agent?

bluebruce Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Thanks for that but i've had a season ticket at ewood for 12 years! Oops, sorry, been awake all night and didn't read your name or post thoroughly enough.
S15 Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 If those Indians had any knowledge of what we need then how about waving all that silly money allegedly put aside for Ronaldinho into the face of Scott Parker's agent? Logically I totally see your point of view. However, the prospect of Ronaldinho is something special, and beyond the black and white morbidity of the requirements of the team. There is a 'Kean List,' which I hope will address this 'black and white morbidity,' and Venkys want a marquee signing to 'show we mean business,' and to 'raise the profile of the club.' What on earth is the problem?
nicko Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 If those Indians had any knowledge of what we need then how about waving all that silly money allegedly put aside for Ronaldinho into the face of Scott Parker's agent? Scott Parker is a cracking player. Would he put bums on seats and get Rovers known worldwide? No. That is what this 'cherry on the cake' thing is about. The other signings have to be made too and - by the sounds of it - are ongoing. I find it amazing that nobody even gives a toss about the Roque thing which is probably nearer to happening than anything else. Strange days.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 With Ronaldinho and Adam being targetted, it probably makes sense for Rovers to aquire a special dentist.
deryck guyler's spoon Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Scottish is he? Well I never. Hello Statler. Why dont you join your mate Waldorf and have break?

John Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Roque has a track record of never staying fit, risky signing, especially if he can't get on the pitch.
RevidgeBlue Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Well for starters Simon, was the situation that I described right or wrong? I'm actually surprised at how you have jumped into bed with Venky's as well Rev. You used to give the trustees and John Williams [who did a brilliant job], a lot of stick on here, and now you're looking at the current dabacle through starry eyes. Can't work that one out. The Trustees left the place as nicko says "in a state." Drove away a brilliant manager in Hughes and through year after year of underinvestment left us eventually with no midfield and a strikeforce of Kalinic (who you don't rate), Roberts (who was 3rd or 4th choice a few years ago) a loanee and Benjani (least said about him the better) I don't agree with your assessment of RSC, Adam and Ronaldinho. As I said last night I think they'd all be good signings. Still would probably need at least one or two more as well thanks to the wonderful Trustees. If you think I've "jumped into bed with the Rao's" fair enough. I'd describe it as "prepared to give them a chance." If we've signed no -one by Feb 1st I'll be screaming as loud as the next guy. So go on, who would you like in?
S15 Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 I find it amazing that nobody even gives a toss about the Roque thing which is probably nearer to happening than anything else. It's very simple with Santa Cruz, keep him fit and you have a world class striker. I have no problems with the signing of the player, it's just his fitness is a major issue. No problems on loan, but I hope that wouldn't be the only striker signed, as that would represent a huge risk.
Blue n White Rover Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Scott Parker is a cracking player. I'd take Roque back. However, the main problem I see is how he is going to get the service required. In his most prolific season we had Bentley delivering some excellent crosses for him to put away with his eyes shut. We no longer have that quality out wide. Diouf and Pedersen very rarely deliver them kind of crosses. Are we to pay all of his wages if he signs for us on loan or will City subsidise majority of it?
nicko Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Scottish is he? Well I never. That is a bonus too. However, if you put the Old Gentleman's Persuader down long enough to watch football you would know how good he has become since he left Rangers. He got Blackpool up with his goals and displays, I saw them often enough. He was magic. He is also a leader and a strong individual. Had the balls to take his own club on for a bonus he was due. Would have him in a flash. Roque has a track record of never staying fit, risky signing, especially if he can't get on the pitch. Got to agree with that. And it uses up a loan.
S15 Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 The problem is we want to look the gift horse in the mouth. I suppose it's northern nature. Fair enough, but I won't lie, I feel excited, and grateful for the excitement.
