Had nothing to do on my lunch so figured I'd try and work out every possible scenario for us on the last day, just to try and relieve some of the stress I am already feeling. Anyway its pretty boring but just thought I'd share it.

Hopefully I am not tempting fate by neglecting to include a 7-0 loss to Wolves in the scenarios.

*Not by a ridiculous score like 7-0

From what I can tell (and provided I did this correctly) there are 71 different scenarios of which only 8 will send us down.

I cannot see either mau u or spurs losing last game of the season. Man u will want to win on the day they receive the prem trophy - though may be content with a draw, last match of the season and at home. spurs to stay above liverpool. west ham, blackpool and brum down.

Oh that's brilliant ! :( So if we achieve the unlikely and stay up this weekend we could get Warnocked afterwards ?

This club will put me in the nuthouse :o

Philip thinks that us being relegated with a draw is "likely" yet the bookmakers have this at 110/1.

I would take his "facts" with a pinch of salt

As so many "in the know" posters think we NEED to win. I'm going to stick money on us drawing and still going down. I think it will be about 50/1.

What does that mean? It's blindingly obvious we need a win to be sure of staying up

My thought exactly. They looked like they were celebrating safety yesterday. I think that will come back to haunt them.

2-0 down, almost dead and buried and Wigan come back to win in injury time. Of course they were celebrating and it may well have looked like they thought they were safe. If we had scored in 92nd minute on Saturday Ewood would have gone utterly and completely wild - and yes I know it would have meant safety for us.

Well, i think we're safe.

Not a chance two of Brum, Wigan & B'pool are going to win on Sunday.

Strange things happen. I'd have given you a £1 to 1p at least one of Blackpool, Wolves and Wigan would drop points. You simply cannot say there is "not a chance." The only option is to beat Wolves, eliminate all the doubt. If they players are sitting around talking in the same manner as the majority of the support we could be down already.

Talk about over-confident.

I think we will escape the drop but only on goal difference.

I think that we will lose by 3 or 4 to 1 with Fletcher netting a brace and raising his shirt to reveal a T shirt with some reference no doubt to Burnley.

Brum, on the evidence of yesterday, are a spent force and gone - not a prayer @ WHL.

Wigan will win at Stoke - Stoke will be like Bolton at Ewood, running on empty.

I can see Blackpool winning at O.T., however, more likely to end in a draw with some very scary moments before, hopefully, we realise we are safe.

A very, very lucky escape.

Apart from any result predictions, I would take his facts quite seriously.

If the teams below us had different games, or indeed were at home on Sunday i'd be thinking differently.

I'd love to be as doom & gloom as the next guy on here, but with the exception of Wigan who could beat Stoke (even that is unlikely), Are Spurs & Man Utd going to lose at home on Sunday? Are they heckers like.

Still, i'd rather Rovers got the win just to eliminate that 0.5% doubt i have in my mind that we'll actually go down on Sunday.

I can honestly see all 4 of us, Lashers, Big Club and the Pie Munchers losing.

Spurs will want to end their season on a high, and secure a UEFA spot. They've only lost 1 home game all season, and Brum are in complete free-fall.

Stoke will want to gain a top ten place, and make up for the disappointment of losing the cup final. Wigan will fight but I see Stoke being much too strong.

United will rest key players, but the mindset of the fringe players will surely be to put in a cracking performance and ensure they're at least on the bench for Wembley - not to mention I'm sure they'll be keen to ensure they remain unbeaten at home all season. Blackpool's great away wins were pretty much all before Xmas - before they were sussed out and started a free-fall of their own.

And .... Wolves will want to win to ensure their own safety so I can see them rolling us over.

What odds on all 4 losing and us staying up?

Strange, Rovers have taken points off liverpool at home, Arsenal away and Man U at home, west ham away (all under Kean I hate to add) - who all had something to play for, yet we fear wolves. I hope blackpool, brum, wigan are all losing heavily at half time. Then I'd fear a bit more confident.

thats a great 6th post :tu:

Take me a few reads

Cheers, To be fair I normally just lurk on here whilst posting on another forum which is closing down in the very near future, so it was just a copy and paste of what I'd posted there.

Already dreading the 7th etc posts. If its a good one, have to throw a sicky off work to read it.

You needn't have woried about the 7th :)

We only need a win to stay up if it turns out the 110/1 shot occurrence.

Blackburn fans could bankrupt the bookmakers on Sunday if we all bet on that most unlikely scenario.

We could then donate the money to the club and increase our transfer fund. If 25k make the bet (£10 each) we would have 27.5m to give to Venky's.

It's bound to happen.

Birmingham are as good as gone. They were absolutely awful yesterday, can't defend and still haven't learned how to score (also their problem last year).

That means Wigan have to win at Stoke and Blackpool have to win at Man Utd. Very unlikely that they'll both happen.

I think we've done enough but it's still going to be a terrifying day. Luckily I'm away at a festival so I'll feel a million miles from normal civilisation, I'll just pretend it's not happening.

Seconded.

Which 'facts' are you seconding? Assertions are not facts. If you guess a million times I'm sure you are right a few times, when an FA investigation is launched against Blackburn for improper use of an agent then I'll sit up and take notice but it is not going to happen.

Yep, it is all speculation and nonsense, and if it isn't then prove it. Phillip has sent me the odd PM, about something, but it was just some very vague assertation that one of the Rao brothers is a bit dodgy. So either show the proof of improper conduct, you know actual evidence rather than farts in the wind, or stop scaremongering.

With regards to the 7-0 comment earlier. I have made myself work it out despite the highly unlikely case of it happening.

The only way for us to finish on level points with Birmingham, Wigan and Blackpool is for them to all draw and us lose.

If we lost 6-0 we would have a GD of -20 level with Birmingham, but would finish ahead of them on goals scored (unless Birm draw 8-8).

If we lost 7-0 we would finish below Birmingham on goal difference and Blackpool on goals scored. Thus relegated

We would need to lose 9-0 for Wigan to finish above us or 'only' 8 nil if they draw 5-5 with Stoke.

Pointless I know but I would feel in some way responsible if the situation unfolded and I had written it off prior.
