Torgeir Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Everyone knows its incredibly stupid time to buy players which means increased prices etc - so I wouldnt really worry What do you mean by that? We need reinforcements to ensure survival. A couple of quality additions and we'll be challenging for Europe...

LessThanJake Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 still find that Samba deal utterly baffling
sweet Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Maybe we need the Samba money to fund the move for Adam. Who the hell knows. I cant see us tying up a move for 4 or 5 players with 3 weeks to go thats for sure. I thought we would have one new face in by now at least. But not even 1 single bid for a player yet is surely bizare!
DavidMailsTightPerm Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 But not even 1 single bid for a player yet is surely bizare! If you have a personal line to JW - why don't you ask who we haven't bid for ? How do you know we haven't enquired how much players will cost - and are necogiating ? Pointless wasting money after all.
Hi Mack Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 We're keeping our powder dry.. I do hope that's sarcastic! Our powder has combusted it's that dry!
Hughesy Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Hey nicko, heard anything on the Duff front please mate? Yeah hopefully he says "Not happening ever". Brum/ Newcastle making moves helps....should kick start one or two clubs into bids. Not sure Newcastle would sign Bentley & Larsson.
Mr. E Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 What about the "top players" Kean was talking about? Who are they?
Wing Wizard Windy Miller Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 CHARLIE ADAM...Birmingham City have come in...willing to buy...might not be a bad thing if a club has a go and establishes the fee or ground rules...can't go into too many details, but Rovers have a good chance with this one as long as the price is not higher than it should be. May be reading too much into that Nicko but that sounds to me like we have no where near the amount of money the owners would like us to think. TBH too many things don't add up. Out of all the Prem squads ours needs strengthening the most, yet we don't seem to be putting offers in anywhere. You get the feeling that any decent players - Bentley, Krancjar etc will pass us by and be snapped up by another team. Is it a case that we hoped to get players in under the radar but they simply don't want to sign for us at present?
Drunx2002 Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Everyone knows its incredibly stupid time to buy players which means increased prices etc - so I wouldnt really worry I want signings, and I want them now! I can't claim back all the hours I spent on this damn website over the whole summer waiting, hoping, for just one blooming football player to put his paltry signature on a piece of paper with "Contract of employment to Blackburn Rovers FC" on the top and nothing. We get taken over, promises of money, Brazilian superstars, ex England captains, and now we're sweating over a Blackpool midfielder! Cheque book....now....or I'm running naked onto the pitch at half time to sacrifice a chicken. That is all.
sweet Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 love the fact we can offer 20 mill to ronaldinho, but are playing so everly over cautious in getting a good price and the right price for adam, even though a creative midfielder is the most paramount move we can make this jan. just doesnt add up at all.
Backroom Tom Posted January 6, 2011 Backroom Posted January 6, 2011 Paying over the odds for one player sets a precedent. Ronaldinho and Adam are totally different prospects.
sweet Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 yeah paying 130k in wages doesnt set a precedent at all.
trs Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Brum's bid for Adam and Bentley http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Transfer-news-Birmingham-boss-Alex-McLeish-has-made-moves-for-Blackburn-target-Blackpool-skipper-Charlie-Adam-and-Tottenham-winger-David-Bentley-article665871.html
JamieUK Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Come off it - every player has a value. Just because it appears we have more money than usual to spend doesn't mean we should pay over the odds. A 'Galactico' signing is different as it would do more for our profile than signing a Charlie Adam and would generate further income through marketing, etc. I'm not in the camp of 'keeping our powder dry' but I would rather hold off and see what other opportunities come up if clubs start playing silly buggers with transfer prices. We are supposed to have a list of upto 4 players for each position so if our number one targets arent forthcoming I'm sure we'll move on to the next before the end of the window...
braddock Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 I think I'm right in believing that Ronaldinho wasn't being paid for out of the same pot as the rest of things. That was a commercial deal, or something of the sorts. Charlie Adam is not a commercial deal, so yes, his transfer will be different, as is to be expected. Aimed at the moron who used the 'I'm with stupid' sign above.

It still sets a precedent we are willing to pay over the odds no matter where the bloody money comes from, its still coming from the owners anyway!! which was my point! Moron? Get a grip, no need for personal insults, keyboard warrior.
67splitscreen Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 I'd love to be at the pressy tomorrow, Holloway will be hilarious, make a change someone laughing at another club.
Sverre Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 As long as we end up with a few quality players that will strengthen our squad this window, I am happy. Unfortunately, the Ronaldinho affair showed the football world that Blackburn have significant funds. This means that the players Blackburn are interested in might get a steeper price tag as a result. Therefore it could be wise not be the first bidder on the players Blackburn are interested in, seeing as those players are sought after by other PL clubs as well. Would Charlie Adam be needed to move in to a new accommodation if he chose to play for Blackburn? Blackpool is pretty close geographically, which could be beneficial.

If that isn't a personal insult when compared to the word moron then what is?

I think he may swap his B&B for a semi.
braddock Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 I think he may swap his B&B for a semi. I'd have a semi after the imminent pay rise. Sorry.

If that isn't a personal insult when compared to the word moron then what is? Its a daft emoticon provided by the site, used constantly by people on the site, and used very clearly in jest. I'm pretty certain the site doesn't condone personal insults, so wouldnt provide it if so. So I would suggest there is a very big difference.
