fact is, we havent signed anybody yet. You would have thought, that if Kean was smart, and Venkys was smart(i should be banned for saying that they are smart) , then they would look elsewhere for players. Adam is the mainstay of Blackpool, he could be the difference between them staying up, and them being relegated. Holloway would do well to hold onto him, at least until the end of the season.

The same applies for Duff, with Hughes fighting his own battles and trying to move up the table. Will he sell, well i doubt it. Duff is experienced and still a good player. Better than what we have at the moment, so again, potentially a difference maker at the end of the season.

so, if we know the chances of signing them are slim, then why do we keep trying to move in for them, unless we offering silly money.

The thing is, there is some Spurs rejects(they are by no means that), but we could do really well, by drafting in the likes of Kranckjar, Bentley, O Hara, Dos Santos and Robbie Keane, heck even Wilson Palacios. 1,2 or even 3 of that lot would improve our team.

Then, there are players like Adel Taarabt at QPR, Steven Pienaar(outside chance, if we move in early, not sure he will come here though), but the point is, we are wasting so much time in signing players, when there are quality players, who are not getting a look in at their clubs. Im not talking about players playing in other countries, but players with EPL experience

List

Vela

Dos Santos

Kranckjar

Pienaar

Bentley

Roque

Adebayor(i know, a bit of a moaner,but still decent)

Sturridge

O'Hara

Robbie Keane

Agger

Palacios

Babel

thats just a few i can think of, who would improve our team. This focus on Ronaldinho has just gone too far, and precious time have been wasted. Yes they want a marquee signing, but we are in survival mode right now, and we need players who will step up to the plate without too much fuss.

Next season, with our position secured, then we can look at bringing in a marquee signing, a big name or 2 to compliment a solid squad and push on to that top 5 position.

Remember, there are about what 17 or 18 games left in the season. That is not much games imo to try and mess around, and trying to bring in Ronnie who may or may not be in the mood for a battle.

Those against a move for Sidwell, well he is the type of player, by no means a marquee signing, but he would stick his foot in and break up play. This is something we clearly missing, but because its not Ronaldinho, we pull our noses up or whatever. Reality is, Ronaldinho would have been some signing, but in the position we are, and with this current squad going nowhere slowly, its in our best interests to sift out the Sidwell's, the Bentleys, the kranckjar's of the world. You may not like it, but my stance has been NO to Ronaldinho, YES to Kranckjar, O Hara and Giovanni Dos Santos. You want to see Rovers in the EPL next season, then Mr Kean, Dumb and Dumber and their sister, make the move for those players.

Did Kean really bypass JW because they didn't discuss the transfer of Ronaldinho? What was there to discuss? Ronaldinho is a special project on the side, a target Kean himself probably didn't choose but was let know that the new owners was looking to bring in. I don't see the big drama i that.

I would call it being bypassed, but at the very least it means a change in the way player purchases are being made, as outlined at the AGM,with the chairman being sidelined on at least one.

Charlie Adam is NOT out of contract in the summer. He has 18 months left. This will take money...and trying to get the better of Karl Oyston.

All the best with that - but get cracking ffs!

Seems like you are overly keen for this to happen Alan.

Expensive / slow / stubborn chairman who will easily trample all over our naive new owners and their puppet. Per Frandsen written all over this imo.

btw just as an aside hasn't Adams had some sort of contractual grievance with Blackpool recently?

According to their website, he signed a 2 year contract August 2009, with an option for for an extra 12 months.

Not a bad list there. Plenty of decent names on it, and i would be happy with pretty much any of them.

As for Sidwell, he is the type of player we need, but his injury record isn't good. The last thing we need is another central midfield crock.

Wont be here by the weekend then?

The stories are that Kean has £5m to spend. Blackpool could well want more than that for Adam.

If these are the players we want then the owners are going to have to back the manager and come up with the money.

Charlie Adam would be ideal for the way Steve Kean wants Rpvers to play. He is also very much within the budget in terms of wages. The fee will be a problem. But make one and stop hanging around.

Adam had a contract dispute that was settled. However a proper offer on all sides makes this deal happen.

If you can't land a player like that then there is a problem.

Especially as the one remaining Premier loan is going to be used on Roque, which strikes me as a mistake.

How often have you got to be told that the budget for this window is NOT £5 MILLION?

Are you saying its less than 5 million?

The manager said recently it was at least £10 million for this window and a guaranteed £5 million for the next three windows.

Now if you want to whine and be silly, that's up to you...

What is it then?

Taking a very quick glance at the table, and considering the very positive start Blackpool have had to the season, one might ask why would Adam want to move - anywhere? He has a contract, he can enjoy a good season and then consider his future in the summer.

I think the figure is in the psot above - and has been repeated countless times since the manager first said it AFTER the trip to India.

It just suots some people to ignore what is said.

Charlie Adam could be signed. If the deal is right.

Nicko,

Could it be that:

1] Venky's have made a committment to the trustees that they will put in £5m of their own money, every transfer window for three years - and that is what Kean will get.

2] The minimum £10m that Kean mentioned for this window included Venky's money for a major signing, that wont be made available to Kean.

Yes seen that but must admit I hadn't really taken on board any figure after the India trip. Personally I'm fairly convinced there isn't a budget. I feel we may either spend a whole bundle of money or perhaps nothing. The situation is just too weird.

I imagine Adam could be signed if the deal was right but guess it will be a lot of money for player and club because I can't see Adam needs to move. His stock is very high at present, Rovers are in turmoil so why jump ship at this point? Adam has a great opportunity to showcase his talents in the Blackpool team before considering his future. Bit like Bentley and a few others............but the grass is not always greener.

No.

The money will be available when it is needed...if injuries stay severe and results get worse they will probably have to spend MORE.

Kean spoke to them and established that the £5 million is a minimum in these windows...but that can be dipped into.

I would have thought that the Ronaldinho attempt buries once and for all the idea that these people are tight wads or skint.

I can't take this in...Rovers put a £20 million-ish contract offer to a top player and people are still going around with faces like Colin Montgomerie's on a bad day.

if we were goin give 20 million to ronnie why cant we get robbie kean and david bentley who whould go straight in the team and make a massive differance

Because its not all about league standing with the new owners. Its about PR and name recognition also, that name being Venkys not Rovers. Ronaldinho will sell a lot of shirts in markets Venkys wants to penetrate and Robbie Kean and David Bentley are unknowns. Like it or not, Rovers is a marketing tool for Venkys.

Steve Kean stated it categorically in his first presser after the India trip. I am pretty sure I wrote it and it was mentioned in the paper. If it was ignored elsewhere you have to ask THEM why that was not mentioned.

I believe - and have said before - that the total in this window will depend on the need. That need increased when players started falling over. That need will increase even more if there is a run of bad results.

That is football.

Weird? No. New? Yes.

Or would you rather have NO cash under the Trustees and a justifiable lemming-like rush for the cliffs?
