Thinking of bidding £4m for Duff - that is way, way too much for an injury prone, past his best 32 year old. In fact, I think it's beyond believe.

For goodness sake, get the money on a decent central midfielder or two.

If RSC & Duff represent the 'A' list, I'm dreading to think who is on the 'B' list.

The euphoria of Wednesday has quickly disappeared.

OMFG, your glass is definitely 1/2 empty isn't it? Jesus FC, how many teams would swap places with us right now? Bloody hundreds of them, and a lot of them consider themselves a hell of a lot "Bigger" than us!! I work with supporters of Oldham, Liverpool, Forest, Leeds, Sheff U & Weds, Dingles, Leeds, Bradford, West Spam, Norwich etc etc.. The list goes on mate, they are jealous pal, I can assure you.

keep the faith, for goodness sake! And keep it in perspective! (Please!!!)

Have we actually bid for any players yet?

I keep asking the question with little reply, we cant sign anyone without an official bid being accepted and I see no evidence of bids being put in, unlike £2,000,000 Brum have offered for Adam, we see they have bid but we havent, do Venkys think we just speak to players pay them and forget paying the club a transfer fee, its going to be a bloody long window at this rate!

Will you please stop with your little "Cheers, BKR" thing at the bottom of each post. You don't need to say thanks and your name is written on the side, so we all know who you are!

Nicko, you said 6 player+ have been approached. Duff, Adam, Roque, Ronaldinho...who else am I missing?

FFS post police!

It's people like you who for no reason cause tension on the board.....what harm is he actually doing? Grow up!

Cheers HM

No bids made

Bit strange that Kean thought we'd have a couple in by QPR but confirmed today that we've not made bids for anyone..

The local paper report is all stuff that has been in the Mirror before - Roque, Adam etc.

There are ongoing talks with Man City. So that's not a 'bid' as such because it's a loan attempt.

Adam...you know about.

The other ongoing talks are with Villa re Samba and Collins. So that is not a 'bid' either as it it up to Villa to make the 'bid' because they are the buying club who kicked the thing off.

Lazio only willing to pay £2 million for Santa at the moment,City after £3.5 million.

Clubs agreed to split wages 50-50 until July 1st.After that date City told Lazio they would not give them any money.and that they would have to sort out their own contract with him.

Both clubs spoke yesterday & probably again today.

City would probably prefer him in Italy too.

Newspaper "Record" from Portugal claim Birmingham want Charlie Adam (nothing we didn't already know) and made a bid of £2 million which is above is release clause.

Surely we can get him...

Lift from the Mirror...there is NO release clause...it will cost a fair bit more than £2 million...

No bids made? Get your finger out steve, With the shortlist been drawn up over a week ago what are are we waiting for?

It's not up to Steve Kean from here on out, as he has said hinmself, he has provided the owners and chairman with 3 different lists of players, with 3 or 4 alternatives for each position. It is now up to the powers that be, such as John Williams (domestic list) to go and work towards securing some of these players.

I think we need to relax a little bit, January is always a cagey time to buy players, most clubs are reluctant sellers, and normally wait til they have replacements lined up before they agree to sell.

Lift from the Mirror...there is NO release clause...it will cost a fair bit more than £2 million...

Spot on Nicko, Holloway even said as much earlier in the week.

He was bullish when asked about players leaving, but he still thinks they'll be able to hold onto their better players til the end of the season at least.

Wait and see I suppose.

We did some great business there if that's all he's worth now. If City want a permanent deal as part of any loan I hope to God we're not still interested.

If Rovers simply want to throw money away, I'll gladly have some of it!

ROQUE...Lazio offered some cash weeks ago...City liked the sound of that...but Roque wants to stay in the area and come back to Rovers...so that is going to take some negotiating...I just wish Rovers found somebody better...but that's a personal view.

ADAM...Birmingham bid a bit lower than the £2 million...which is low...however they have dough...Rovers playing the waiting game...but this is poised to kick off big-style in the next few days.

CHIMBONDA...not paid up yet...will prove stubborn...can't say I blame him.

Word I am getting back is that everybody quite relaxed with 'progress' being made.

It is a little more frantic in other places...as you will find out later today.

If i was a club owner i would only take him for nowt & on about £30,000 a week + bonuses. But it appears there are a handfull of clubs willing to take the risk.

City are idiots for paying such stupid wages, they deserve a shedful of trouble because of that.

Surely it would also really be better for RSC, given tackling is outlawed there?

I'm very much in 2 minds over RSC. One part would love to see RSC season 1 banging them in again, but its never the same second time round or at least its very rare. If I'm being honest and we really do have some money to spend there's loads of great young striking talent out there, we'd be better off signing one of them.

I would agree with you on Roque, though as a loan option, it wouldn't be the worst deal to ever go through, provided his wages were split for 60/40 in City's favour.

He might be the best option in January, rather than risk making a permanent move for a striker that isn't proven at Premiership level, and who may not have been properly scouted. Maybe the idea is to get a loan striker til the summer and then look toward making moves for a permanent striker in the summer, when we can properly scout and compile a decent list. Also, prices may be a bit more realistic by then.

You get the impression that theres a con being pulled here, and its on us, just a feeling.

You need to have a good think about why you are so cynical about our new owners. I think there is some deep seated prejudice.

If they aren't going to spend any money why tell us that we are? How would that improve the Venky's image and their relationship with us? They could have just as easily come out and said "January is notoriously difficult to purchase players, we are keeping our powder dry until the Summer". People would have found that fairly reasonable I assume (based on what a few people have said on here).

Why are we sending the youngsters out on loan if we aren't looking at replacements?

Why do you assume they are fleecing us? To what end?

Second question of the day for you Nicko (I'll try not to make a habit of it...),

who is doing our negotiating, is it Williams acting under instructions from the Raos, or are they doing everything themselves? I'm very worried if it's the latter.

Very cynical view imo.

The whole football world regarded the Ronaldinho and Beckham bids as realistic and serious.

John Williams will do the domestic deals - as I said a few days ago. The only change now is that there is money to spend.

Venky's know the names, know the prices and between them all they approach each deal as it comes up.

The manager has plenty of contacts and knows the best way to get answers too.

So, it's shaping up ok.

The big test - as always - is in who gets signed...and for how much.

There isn't a point in over-spending on Roque, Adam, Duff etc when their value may adjust itself in a week or possibly fortnight.

Fortunately the Liverpool result took a lot of heat off. Now you can put some fringe men out against QPR. And keep busy in the background.
