[Archived] Transfer Window Part 2

Recommended Posts

I know its boring, but we will have to wait until 1st of Feb to see how much money we have, heard on radio lancashire just now that our manager had been given two sums of money.

1 for buying players

2 second one is for wages.

steve would not say what the total is but he seemeed very pleased by it. He went on to say that he had hoped to have two players by now, but clubs are putting up a fight to keep there players, but all being well it should be sorted out early next week.

I love the scare mongering posts which get posted on here at times. Nobody knows how much we have to spend, let alone anyone who posts on this message board.

It bemuses me, how people still think there are no funds available, when there are the points -

Fact - We were trying to get Ronnie on a deal worth 20million, and as Steve Kean has confirmed today, we havnt given up hope yet.

Fact - Steve Kean mentioned after his trip to India there would be at least 10million to spend

Fact - Steve Kean confirmed today that we are looking to bring in 3-4 players

I dont think I have ever been so sick and tired of hearing/reading the word 5 million.

The only fact here Valois is it looks like you fell for it all, and as a fellow Rovers supporter, i'm deeply ashamed of the bull that has been said above.

So we'll swap Samba for Collins and £2M and use the £2M to cover RSC's wages for the rest of the season, and Venky's doesn't have to put a single £ in to the club ;)

Good maths, but...

You might want to wait until the Sunday People sheds more light on the comings and going.

On RoversPlayer interview, Kean said likely to be next week now when 2 signings are made - reading between the lines these appear to be loan deals.

He suggested we've had to move on from the original targets who he thought could have joined this week.

He will certainly divide opinion on here ....i like having a nasty little @#/? in midfield aand i think all the best teams have had one , i think he has made an effort to clean up his act , but as shown with MGP this year its still in him...for anything upto £3m i would say yes although i am sure i'll be in the minority

Dont like the guy but its without doubt he would add alot to our midfield. Currently no one like him in our side. Someone in the mould of Barton or Lee Cattormole playing alongside a creative player such as Adam or mabye Pedersen would massively improve us.

SSN saying we are trying to bring in both RSC and Duff on loan. Utter rubbish, we cant have both on loan as we already have 2 domestic loans, un less we are looking to bid for MB Diouf.

nahh were not going to bid for MBD, SSN just talk utter s##t... they no sweet fa about anything without..... stroke boy!!

Thats your opinion mate, and thats fine, I believe we will all know what the truth is by the 1st Feb. I choose to believe that there is more than 5m to spend.

Sky Sports News reporting Duff and Roque on loan is looking good

It's good to watch Sky Sports News with the sound down.

Then you get to look at Georgie Thompson without actually having to listen to what she's saying

It's also the method I employ when enjoying Girls Aloud!

I hope that whoever we sign is of equivalent quality to Bentley at the very least. I wasn't falling over myself to have him back but we could wind up with worse.

Venky's talking about long shots like Ronnie publicly does not in any way *prove* they have any money. The proof will be when/if they spend it.

But I can't believe Kean would be actively talking about players in the plural sense if the actual budget was in line with BPF's information. £2m isn't likely to get us very much at all. We'll see if Kean is singing a different tune tomorrow.

Like Nicko says, it doesn't really add up and would indicate just how much of the picture behind the scenes we're probably missing.

True, like BPF says, he hopes, like we all do, what hes been told is wrong and that Rovers spend more money than £5m, but this must'nt be done at the expense of selling Samba.

I desperately hope we're not going to let Samba go to try and raise money for transfer funds.

I'd rather keep Samba and stick with what we've got, because none of the players we've been realistically linked with will make as much of a difference to our side as he will.

We should all unite and turn to the Rao family to make sure this wont happen.

So they wanted MEGA media interest only to turn around & it turned out we couldnt afford?!?! To then look absolutely stupid to EVERYONE, including the fans that already were against them?? Where did you make that one up from.

Seriously the Jan window is usually VERY SLOW....and nothing tends to happen until the last few days, the only thing I think they have done wrong is for Kean to say "he plans on doing it all at the beginning", the sensible thing to do is to wait & get the right players for the right price.

No what I was saying is that there would be some other 'reason' (like him not having the hunger) that would come out over why we didn't sign him if Ronaldino ever got to coming over to talk terms. I didn't state that we would come out and say that we can't afford him after all. The fact is though he won't ever meet Kean as he wouldn't be interested in coming to us. So Venky's get the kudos over trying to do a deal without having to put their hand in their pockets.

Like I said I hope I am wildly inaccurate.

Do you think Birmingham are a better option then?

Until Venky's stop talking and put their money where their mouth is, yes. I really hope they have the goods to back their plans up, but we don't have any concrete evidence on that yet. Yeung might be a hairdresser and not as rich as he has led to believe, but atleast he's backing them up.

Bently is a good signing for Birmingham - there is obviously a risk element attached as his attitude is questionable.

However if they can get him playing at top of his game, they know they have a quality peformer who is experienced in playing in the Premier League.

I think the real reason we might be letting Samba go is because he wants out.

He has stated publicly twice he wants to leave. Nicko and our manager have both said he has wanted a move for over a year.
