ada2020 Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 No inside info, yes I have seen his comments, however check out BPF's comments on the transfer thread. Surely they do not intend to blow £20 million on Ronaldhino while only leaving $5 million for strengthening the team? Fingers crossed the latest info is wrong, sorry for my last post, it was probably a bit strong. Just feeling a little frustrated at it all at the minute.

Ronaldinho would make alot of that £20m back though. Thats the major difference. Charlie Adam wont quite have that same pulling power.
ada2020 Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 It's a fair point you raise there mate, just not sure, despite the excitement I felt when the rumour first came out, that this is the sort of player we really need right now. Like I said before my main issue is the news we might only have £5milion to spend, I hope that news is wrong.
ada2020 Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 I understood that Ronaldinho was a 'side project', financed personally, and wouldn't affect the transfer budget. Mind you, we hear lots and nothing makes sense. My feelings exactly, which is what led to my outburst in the first place. I am very much in favour of Venkys, it's a rough ride though.
AHoyle90 Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Ronaldinho would be a massive coup, but we also need to get the balance right with the type of players we bring in. In Steve Kean we trust!
mcphee7 Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 This Ronaldinho thing is going on and on and to be honest my gut feeling is he will sign somewhere in brazil. By the things I've read, my feeling is he needs home a lot more than he needs the money. If I was he, and I so could have been a few years ago , lived away from home and globetrotting I would want to go home too. My eyes would pop out of my head if this came off, but it won't.

Difference is with the money he's making you could fly all your family and friends over to wherever you are whenever you want, and keep them there
Backroom Madon Posted January 7, 2011 Backroom Posted January 7, 2011 Pele has criticised Ronaldinho for holding out for more money and believes that he should play for Gremio for nothing. My link
Brownie Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 From the Express , has this quote been mentioned elsewhere ? And while former world footballer of the year Ronaldinho, above, remains in Brazil to discuss a future there, Kean has refused to give up hope after receiving the smallest amount of encouragement on Thursday night from his agent. Kean said: The information we got back on Thursday from the agency that looks after him was that he would consider the UK. "The information we got back on Thursday from the agency that looks after him was that he would consider the UK," he said. "It seemed to be slipping away – but you can only react to that information because we thought he was heading back to Brazil. "Milan have said they will consider him going anywhere. A few days ago the agency said he would go back to Brazil. So it seemed to go the wrong way but now we're told he would consider it. I'm trying to get the player to commit to come over and speak to us and then to deal with his club. "We are trying to get a formula that first of all satisfies his current club and then see if the player is actually fully committed to coming here. I don't know if he would go anywhere, but we can only react to it and see if we can take it to the next stage."

Brownie Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 The former Footballer of the Year, even 24 hours ago, said he wanted to return to play in Brazil. Flamengo, Gremio, Corinthians and Palmeiras are in contention to make the play of Ronaldinho, but in the meantime continue to sound the sirens of the British Blackburn FESTIVAL Gremio, BUT WITHOUT THE GUEST OF HONOR - The Gremio had even organized a party for the presentation, an excess of optimism that has angered the president Paulo Odone. All canceled, but imagine that a president is not privy to a presentation in grand style is hard to believe. Difficult but not impossible. Why around the future of Ronaldinho in Brazil is real chaos. All are optimistic and believe we can engage the former Milan player now. THE BRITISH SIRENE - Yesterday, the former "Golden Ball", with his brother and agent, Roberto de Assis, and managing director of AC Milan, Adriano Galliani, said that he intended to return to Brazil. Flamengo, Gremio, Corinthians, Palmeiras, all you hear in the race and are convinced they have what it takes to rip yes to Ronaldinho, but not all, because in Brazil is still open to damage the track that leads to Blackburn. The site of the sports daily "Earth" contains the statements of Steve Kean, technical Rovers convinced that "until there is a deal closed, can all still happen, we have not yet spoken with the player, first look for a formula that meets AC Milan, then we see what steps to take. In the next 24 hours to bid. "
Backroom Tom Posted January 8, 2011 Backroom Posted January 8, 2011 I couldn't have put that better myself
BiggusLaddus Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 I've always been a big fan of the writers at The Daily Earth.
RevidgeBlue Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 This story seems to be panning out out the way nicko predicted, sooner or later the player or more likely his financial advisors would suss that not everything glitters quite as gold as it initially seems in Brazil. That still doesn't mean we'll automatically get him of course. I'm astounded Man Ure haven't expressed an interest yet. The perfect type of player for them on all levels. Perhaps their financial situation really is that severe. Pele has criticised Ronaldinho for holding out for more money and believes that he should play for Gremio for nothing. My link He would have done of course. I'm sure he went to New York Cosmos in the 1970's purely to spread the footballing gospel in that part of the world. Nothing whatsoever to do with the money on offer.

RevidgeBlue Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Is it not half four in the morning in the Old Dart? Get to bed young man. Sorry dad. (Where's the Old Dart?, is it near the George and Dragon?)
Stuart Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 I wonder why NO other European club has expressed any interest. Option 1 - he's past it Option 2 - they are quietly monitoring the situation and will bid once we have Option 3 - he's a luxury no-one else can find the cash for Option 4 - ?

United would never buy fat, ageing, demotivated, over-the-hill players such as Ronaldinho.
doctorryan Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 United would never buy fat, ageing, demotivated, over-the-hill ................ I guess that explains why they haven't called you yet.
ewoodpo Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 The manager has been quoted that he'd like the player to come over for talks. If he really wanted to attract a player of this calibre he's the one that should be jumping on the plane to Brazil.
Ricky Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 So the LET who initially rebuffed the story that we were even in for Ronnie are now running stories about it. And he's 30 isn't he?? Not 32.
ewoodpo Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 So the LET who initially rebuffed the story that we were even in for Ronnie are now running stories about it. And he's 30 isn't he?? Not 32. The LET are crap when it comes to Rovers and most things in general. Best news source for Rovers is BRFCS.
