To sum things up:

Duff - Fulham won't sell so that's a dead end.

Demba Ba - is showing his true colours as a loose cannon - stay clear.

Adam - Birmingham trying, Blackburn waiting. Only realistic deal at the moment.

RSC - haggling, might happen towards the end of the window.

Ronaldinho - Doesn't have the appetite for the EPL.

Anyone got anything to add on this? I was optimistic about this window, not so much anymore.

That's about the extent of it. Presumably there were backup options for Duff & Roque. I'd prefer we move on to those. Ronaldinho was always a separate thing.

We're in need of 2-3 players this window. Could do with some actual progress this week.

Depressing stuff to be honest. It's all fluff, I dont think Venkys got a pot to ###### in to be honest. Waiting for proof

The way Kean has Hoilett and Mame Diouf playing right now,as well as other young blood coming through, we will be fine to the end of the season.

Also I have been very positive overall but I'm concerned now, either venkys did not know how expensive it was going to be or they were banking on a,Jones sale , now it has to be samba. You never know though maybe just being patient

I've read on here that we are looking to cash in on Phil Jones a couple of times. Apologies if I missed something but where does this come from?

I think both Duff and Santa Cruz burnt out. What we have - Olsson, Mame, Hoillet, Kalinic is better than them. Adam a good buy. Don't sell Samba or Jones. Will give wrong impression. We need a tackling midfielder in the mold of Cattermole or D Fketcher. . Benayoun would be good as attacking midfielder. Venkys need to show they/we are

serious.

Several people on here are hoping Jones will be sold, and if not him then they hope Samba will be sold.

The club have said they want Samba to stay and it has never been said that Jones will be sold, in fact the club have said that they want to keep ALL our best young players.

It's a great conspiracy theory though, to post that Jones would have been sold if he hadn't suffered his injury... we'll never know wil we????

Just waiting for the next revelation from the conspiracy theorists that our new owners are shape shifting lizards who eat their own children.

The truth is out there.

David Icke to be the next assistant manager?

Per Nicko, three way contest for Charlie Adams, Rovers, Sunderland and Birmingham. http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Transfer-news-Blackpool-spark-Charlie-Adam-three-way-bidding-war-between-Birmingham-Sunderland-and-Blackburn-article669081.html

According to the rumor mill (a site with a very low accuracy rate), we are bidding 7 million for Everton's Leighton Baines and 4.5 million for Romelu Lukaku. http://www.football-rumours.co.uk/blackburn-rumours.php

And apparently Bolton has unnamed competition for Boro's David Wheater. I hope we are trying for him, I think he's one to watch. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/3339548/David-Wheaters-move-to-Bolton-is-on-hold.html And Nicko reports the hang up is the transfer fee, Bolton only want to pay 2.25 while Boro want 3 million. I think Wheater is worth three million, and we need cover in the areas of central defense and right back, so sign him up. :brfc:

And while a few days old, Skysports 'understands' that we are lining up a bid for Arsenal's Jay Emmanuel Thomas. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12876_6636801,00.html

I see. Sort of what I suspected.

all those saying its only the 1st week of the window, and we shouldnt panic, well, best to get players in early imo. Our focus is too much, on a select bunch of targets. The earlier we get players in, then they will settle in quickly. we dont have to sign 5 or 6 players this window, as we need 1 or 2 in crucial areas. Holding onto Samba is vital, then we need about 3 players imo, Holding midfielder, creative midfielder and a striker.

Hoilett is doing a good job down the right, but if Givet is still injured, move Olsson to left back, and MGP to left wing. then bring the creative midfielder and holding mid in, alongside Dunny, and let M Diouf run up front.

i know Olsson has been good as a left winger, but for the next 2 games, it would be good to get a few extra players in. 1 or 2 good signings early, and we could move ahead of teams waiting on the last minute to strengthen.

You suspected that they are shape-shifting, children-eating lizards?

So it's confirmed then.

I've heard somebody else say this somewhere.

So it must be true.

Obviously they will never come out and deny it, which only compounds their guilt.

It's not really chickens they farm anyway, this is just a front for the sacrifical offerings breed...

BTW you'll never get them to deny any of this.

They actually live inside the earth, at it's core, and this is only accessed via a portal at the North Pole.

Did you see the white Fiat amongst their collection of cars??????

We're all doomed.

There could be something else happening, after all the feedback about how unwise it was to do all our washing in public and the media backlash our new owners recieved, perhaps JW and others have had words and we have now gone "Dark" and the pendulem has swung the other way???

Once upon a time, the only time you knew was when someone was holding a shirt up FFS.

If you could be bothered to read the thread Paul (not me) wrote at length about Phil Jones.

Phil Jones- as always the people who know are constrained by not being able to reveal their sources but it has come to me from two totally reliably sources that Phil was to have been sold to either Arsenal or Chelsea completely against his will. He is a home loving decent Rovers-supporting 18 year old boy.

Add Warnock in on a straight transfer to the list of possibles.

JOHN LEIGH, the biggest conspiracy theories on here at the moment are the positive ones like 'the Rao family have huge family wealth behind them' or 'we were going to pay Ronaldinho $20m out of Barry White's personal bank account'....

Time for some people on here to wake up and smell the coffee. Our owners are skint, the £5m figure wasn't a mistake, they actually think that is a lot of money! The supposed money we had to pay Ronnie doesn't exist, PR stunt and nothing more. We won't get Charlie Adam if Sunderland are serious, no chance of competing with them financially and the same goes for Brum.

There will be no £5m+ signings (unless we sell Samba for a bucket load) and we won't be getting 4 or 5 fully paid up, contracted Prem quality players. We will get 1 or 2 anticlimactic names and a couple of loans. I no doubt this will be excused by yet more bull from Venky's about how they were chasing all these star names but couldn't get them done in time blah blah blah...

Insult? Its called negotiating....

You seem to think Adam is worth mega money? Why? He has had half a season at the top.

Samba has played in the prem with us for years yet is only worth £6-8m according to some.

£3-4m should be enough to sign Adam.

Adam, it under contract to Blackpool and if they ask £6 or £7 million then that is the going price. He is vital to Blackpool's bid to remain in the top flight and so a fee of £6 to £7 million, indeed possibly more, is going to be realistic from their view point. If they aren't desperate to sell they hold all the cards and potential buyers - if they have the money - are going to have to pay what's asked or pass on the deal.

If Steve Kean really wants Adam, one might have hoped that Venky's would have put all their efforts into making this deal happen. Instead of talking silly money for Ronaldinho or Beckham, why not test Blackpool's resolve with a £4 million bid?
