JOHN LEIGH, the biggest conspiracy theories on here at the moment are the positive ones like 'the Rao family have huge family wealth behind them' or 'we were going to pay Ronaldinho $20m out of Barry White's personal bank account'....

Time for some people on here to wake up and smell the coffee. Our owners are skint, the £5m figure wasn't a mistake, they actually think that is a lot of money! The supposed money we had to pay Ronnie doesn't exist, PR stunt and nothing more. We won't get Charlie Adam if Sunderland are serious, no chance of competing with them financially and the same goes for Brum.

There will be no £5m+ signings (unless we sell Samba for a bucket load) and we won't be getting 4 or 5 fully paid up, contracted Prem quality players. We will get 1 or 2 anticlimactic names and a couple of loans. I no doubt this will be excused by yet more bull from Venky's about how they were chasing all these star names but couldn't get them done in time blah blah blah...

So what's new? The last few transfer windows haven't even been that positive - we couldn't afford the wages of several of the players we might have liked. If we get a couple of decent loan signings that we can afford to pay for it will be more than we've had most years. We all knew this wasn't a big money buy out but had little choice as our previous owners wanted rid and these were the serious candidates. Stop moaning. There's no point.

Sorry I can't believe anyone thought we were going to get Goofy or Becks. Ever since they took over its been a joke. I mean look at the "supposed" list of players did anyone think wow when they read it? Charlie Adams from Blackpool what a joke. OK the world has moved on and our owners are not as rich as we hoped but I like the majority of fans will stay with Rovers with or without our current owners.

On the plus side the first 11 seam to be doing OK even when we are missing players. Worrying times for all Rovers fans, with luck in the next week or so we will get in some players to help our team move up the league.

The most important thing is we stay in the EPL and see what the summer brings.

You have read the balance sheets ergo you know everything.

What you say may be true, but I'm not going to have a hernia speculating about it.

Relax

I'm not moaning, i'm setting expectations. I agree with everything you said above and you seem like a person with your head screwed on. It's everybody talking as if we have signed Charlie Adam already and saying we should be bidding for players like N'Zogbia, Krancjcar and the like. We should be looking for and discussing £1m-£2m targets and freebies. If we can get Adam, it'll take our whole buget IMO and if people really think we can outbid Sunderland they are crazy.

I prefer to wait and see and then comment. If we sign a number of players and they cost over 5mil, you will look a complete fool. If we don't, you'll be right.

We don't know the budget though do we? I don't see what the fuss is with Adam anyway - better than what we have perhaps but not necessarily better than anything else out there who might be more readily available. Certainly not worth paying over the odds for and as you say Blackpool will want over the odds (why is it everyone else can do that with their decent players and we can't?)I know we need players who can slot into the premier league straight away but before this season lots of the players currently doing well enough haven't been premier league players. It's a case of finding those who can but haven't so far had the chance, players like Samba, Nzonzi, Nelsen etc who cost little but have quickly reached that level.

'Judge them on January' is what I have repeatedly read.

When is this going to change to 'January is a tough month for value, lets keep our powder dry for the summer'. ?

If nobody will sell without us having to pay over the odds I would say waiting till the Summer might not be a bad idea.

I don't think we can totally wait till summer. With the current injuries and the fact that we didn't have our full quota of over 21 players registered, we could do with some bodies. However, I'm not expecting much this window as all managers say it's difficult.

I have no issue with waiting till summer, I believe we will reach 40 points with the current squad. However, Venky's have repeatedly stated, as have many posters that January will be the month they show their hand and prove their ambition (proof of funds).

Hmm, that sounds like Pascal's Wager. But if we do "splash the cash" I'd be a happy fool, either way I can't end up disapointed like a lot of people of here may well do.

My stance has always been to wait until the end of the window to judge our new owners true financial muscle. I do worry that for some fans - even if we ended up with Adams, Nzogbia, Warnock, keeping Samba etc etc - it would still not be enough.

The truth is nobody on this message board knows for a fact what our new owners have in terms of personal wealth. It could be that they are trying to get the best possible deals for their money - and nobody could blame them for that. Alternatively it could be all smoke and mirrors (as some of the more pessimistic members would suggest).

The point is - nobody should judge them until the window has closed. I think Kean raised expectations - maybe he was naive to release the information - but it may have been an honest assesment at the time he was asked.

Lets hold all the theories until the end of the window - and enjoy the ride.

Left back _- that balta looks alright. Or bridge? Warnock would not be a disaster. We are down to one left back now who isn't really a left back and may well like to go back to France. Olsson isn't a full back really and I'm not convinced about morris there.

All the midfield an issue wings less so now . Adam and another

And another striker

True Blue & White.

You sound like my wife. Getting her hopes down all the time and staying negative just so that she won't be dissapointed. I can't understand the meaning of it. I rather live on high hopes and then be dissapointed than walk around without hoping and being negative.
