Yes, those are my thoughts too, I would have tested the water with £4,000,000 plus a player we want rid of, at least test the water, not making an offer seems strange as Kean says he is the one he wants.

I think even the players we want rid of would be out of the wage budget of Blackpool.

Chimbonda? On a fortune compared to what Blackpool's wage ceiling is.

Who else would we want rid of? Possibly Jason Roberts in the past but not now. Nearly every other player is either needed or injured at the moment anyway.

The trouble with offering a player is convincing one of the Ewood Deadwood brigade to take a massive pay cut.

Rangers fan claims they have a 20% sell on for CA - if that's true does it affect Blackpool's asking price?

Blackpool fans reckon it'll take 6-7m to get them to part with him, since they'll likely go down if he leaves. I reckon 5m will be the magic number, with or without addons, sell on etc.

Rangers have a 5 per cent sell-on clause. Sir David Murray will be pleased.

Price has gone up 1.5m today with counter bids ,let them all fight it out and match whats accepted simples.

If we merely matched another bid, would he be likely to choose us over them? Would he choose Rovers over Villa? We certainly wouldn't have a chance against Liverpool.

If we really want him (and if he is Kean's number one choice, we really should be pulling out all the stops) we might just have to pay more than the others.

If we are going to win this then we may have to do so by being the last men standing.

As far as I can tell there's no indication of Everton actually declaring an interest, just rumours based on who his agent is. Once this turns into an auction (if it hasn't already), they'll be priced out of the market. If he'd managed to get out of his deal and move for free he'd probably have ended up there.

Everton won't go to that figure. It's a pity to see Kenny Moyes coming under suspicion of putting his client to his brother. Surely Kenny would know better than anyone what a ditherer he is...

You wait until a fee is agreed. Then go in.

It's furstrating, but vital.

But I do have to say this is a bigger test of Venkys muscle than anything - and that includes Ronaldinho.

Anyway, I'm off.

Chumbawumba!

Match the price Blackpool want i meant then its up to us to offer him a better package, but that comes after you know the price Blackpool want.

Id rather we threw a juicer signing on fee to the player - rather than at a rival club.

Last one standing suggest paying over the odds - not wise, no matter how poor our midfield.

If BPF is correct Rovers are only playing with a £5m budget and that includes wages so the price can't go too high.

Yeah if you believe that - and if you want to go back to what he said - it was £2m for a purchase, £3m for wages.

A £30k contract for 3 years is over £4.6m alone!! Doesnt take rocket science to work out that is incorrect!

Like you, I'm not sure being "last man standing" will do it. what would our chances be if he had a straight choice between say us, Liverpool, Everton and Villa?

"First one in and out" with something approaching Blackpool's valuation might stand a better chance.

Of course it all depends on how badly you want the player. If you rate him particularly highly you should pay it. If you think there's other equally attractive options about you should hang back and try and get him as cheap as possible albeit at a greater risk of being disappointed.

Think it'll come down to a straight fight between us and Villa. Liverpool interest is the fluffiest of rumours that probably comes from his camp. Birmingham are working on a limited budget this window (initially said no money at all would be available until they faced the risk of relegation), and Sunderland were interested in him primarily as cover/insurance against losing Jordan Henderson.

If it's us against Villa, we've got two things going for us: higher chance of being a regular starter and no need to uproot. We're not the most stable of clubs right now but neither are Villa.

Alan Nixon has also said that talk of a max £5m transfer kitty is not true. BPF has been a good source of info but I'm sticking with the scribe who has the connections and track record.

Is there any indication that Adam sees us as "the right club?"

Thats how a GOOD manager works, he knows before a bid goes in the player will come, you 'nobble' the player first, its done in every part of football, Rovers with Savage from Birmingham, Ronaldo to Real, they knew if the offer to the club was successful you had your man, If Steve Kean doesnt know that now, I rest my case.

What's this Rochina like? One for the first team?

Aged 19, and plays for Barcelona 'B' and so far this season has made 3 starts and 10 sub outings in the Spanish Second Division. Last season he appeared to have made 1 start and 2 sub outings for Barcelona 'B'. It suggests that he fits the bill in terms of buying young players with potential. If we are trying to sign him permanently it will be interesting to see what the fee will be. One would suspect that initially he won't be too expensive but that there will be inbuilt add-ons based on performance.

By the end of this week we will be half-way through the transfer window and one would hope that at least one established performer will have been added to the squad by that point.
