Put Santas loan fee in there Hughesy and its looking like £5m

The guy you believe is spot on said - £2m transfer fees, £3m wages.

3 year contract for Adam @ £30k would cost over £4.6m + £3.5m (minimum) to buy

Rochina £1m + contract

RSC - MINIMUM £40k a week if not more.

Adds up to much more than £5m already!

Doh wrong link ! Here we go !!

Salgado to sign extension ?

So Kean goes away & comes back with the info from our new owners.

Samba then says he is happier and wont ask to leave

Nelsen wants to stay

Robbo wants to sign a life time contract

Salgado wants to extend

Something must be going right behind closed doors then...perhaps too many bad chinese whispers on here are making people lose focus?

Cryer tweet - A bit of good news from Michel Salgado for you all in tomorrow's LT

Contract extension by a year perhaps?? Hope so - true pro!

Always makes me laugh when people say Rovers cant attract big names, and here we have plying right back, one of the ex Real Madrid stars and not only that was he not the Galacticos captain at one stage.

Very pleased if it comes true.

Every place is worth 800k , being frugal is fine, if your squad is strong enough, to maintain the points haul.

Our squad is far to injury prone and when they do go down it is normally for at least a month.

The league is so tight at the moment it can change so much on the back of two results, who is to stay that come April time it will not be the same, that player that we didn't sign for the additional budget of a couple million could in effect cost millions.

Spending that money could even see us finishing top eight or even higher.

I doubt the Raos will have changed the target position that this years budgets were set against. I'm guessing it would be around twelfth or slightly higher even with the trust in charge.

Now is not the tiime IMO to be keeping the powder dry.

Im in agreement with those say we should be sensible with our money and look to summer as the key time to really improve.

January window - Rochina - £1m, Adam £3.5m and RSC on loan will do for me.

January is always inflated prices - and with most clubs seeming active, it will only further inflate prices.

I'd say only Adam would improve the squad, can't see RSC playing and scoring regularly all of a sudden and his loan is no small amount.

I think we should strengthen now with Adam and potentially another hard tackling midfielder and left back. The PL is very close in the bottom half and it only takes a couple of weeks to slide right back into trouble. Before the WBA and Liverpool games our squad was horribly exposed. I'm not a doom-merchant, but why take the risk by having a quiet window for the 327th time in a row?

It would also undermine the recent quotes by Kean and Venky's. I think both recognise that the fans want signings in January.

Forget the wages Hughesy, thats absorbed into the current budget. I know it was quoted as £2m this and £3m that but that was his interpretation.

What we dont know is, is this money being paid out directly or on a direct debit type of basis, were part of it is calculated into next years budget.

Plus you're speculating on Adam costing £3.5m it could turn out to be a lot lower.

It could easily end up with just a Spanish kid and another loanee so lets not get carried away Hughesy just yet.

Aged 19, and plays for Barcelona 'B' and so far this season has made 3 starts and 10 sub outings in the Spanish Second Division. Last season he appeared to have made 1 start and 2 sub outings for Barcelona 'B'. It suggests that he fits the bill in terms of buying young players with potential. If we are trying to sign him permanently it will be interesting to see what the fee will be. One would suspect that initially he won't be too expensive but that there will be inbuilt add-ons based on performance.

By the end of this week we will be half-way through the transfer window and one would hope that at least one established performer will have been added to the squad by that point.

Sounds alright, thanks.

Re: Adam. Didn't Nicko say that JW was handling domestic transfers? In that case, no reason to believe he doesn't know what he's doing as to the waiting game.

Nelsen wants to stay

Robbo wants to sign a life time contract

Salgado wants to extend

When players NOT in the autumn of their careers starts asking for longer contracts, then I'll be excited.

He is also one of our best performers this last 12 months and is a model pro. Having a top pro with his credentials can only be good for younger players at the club.

That wasn't my point, I love Salgado.

The post I was replying to bragging about how Rovers could attract and keep 'the big names' and an ex-galitico. In that respect his age has a lot to do with it and him signing another contract (although good for Rovers) isn't a sign of 'intent' or any indication we are now respected by the big names in football.

Would like to see the permanent signing of a striker with a bit of experience this window - we may struggle next season bedding in too many players, especially with just Kalinic currently having a contract beyond June.

So Villa bid £3.5m but we get him for cheaper?? How the hell does that one work?

Salgado could could to Dubai or wherever and get FAR bigger money than stay here - the fact he wants to stay is a positive thing.

Agree about the contract thing - but dont think that will happen for some time, it doesnt even happen at clubs like Villa, Spurs etc.

Robbo is 31. He can play untill he's 40 with no problem. that's enough to earn him a testimonal still. He is a young keeper that would like to stay on untill he retires. That IS exceptionally good news.

Nelsen is loyal.

The fact that SALGADO is now open to extend is to me a very big deal. He is a true legend at Real Madrid, and still does a very good job in the Premier League. Very solid and a model pro. He would not waste his last years on the pitch for a club he didn't enjoy. He has said he wants to win things with Rovers.

I am very happy if we get the Ruchina guy. 19 years old. Grew up with Barcelona, the team that almost filled the all-star team of 2010 alone. To even be in the B squad is good, and he is a spanish international at U19 level. Can't be too bad I guess. He got some trickery in him and a brilliant free-kick foot. I like it.

No, but its there though, you cant fault the pedigree of Michel Salgado regardless of age.

Would think to have someone of his calibre and experience around the club is immeasurable.

The thing about the guy is he comes across as someone who is genuinely enjoying his time here, which if right, you just cant put a value on that.

Can't agree Salgado getting a contract extension is good news. Average at best and for the sort of money he's on there must be someone younger and better available.

Dont disagree with improving the position - but id rather see Chimbonda & Emerton leave and allow Salgado to help nuture our next right back. He has MASSIVE experience and has been one of our best players.

Chimbonda will be on a good screw so the back of him in summer should see a nice saving.

The key question is whether Salgado's new deal (if he is offered one) will mean we have to sell players to pay for it? We've had trouble balancing the wage budget in the past (and have had to sell players to balance it) and could clearly have problems again.

If Salgado signs a new deal that isn't at the expense of selling a star player or promising youngster then I would be happy to give him a new deal. If it's the complete opposite and we have to sell to pay for it (keep in mind if we do bring in some other players but don't sell any the budget will be going up) then i am totally opposed to such a deal.

The gap which we had to make up - was made up from selling Warnock & replacing with Chimbonda - from the season after (2010-11) the increased TV revenue made sure we had enough to cover wages.

Think the last accounts also showed our overall % spent on wages decrease.

His attitude is admittedly first class and he might well have been a world class player years ago.

This is now though and the harsh reality is he's not that good now.

I hope you mean he's not world class any more, and not that he simply isn't that good any more!

He's playing for Blackburn Rovers, he wouldn't be if he was world class.

I can see many having that viewpoint Rev so I can understand what you are saying. 35 years old and one would imagine he is one of our highest earners, I can see a lot of clubs that wouldn't offer a new deal in the same situation.

If it's for one more year and we can afford it then I can't see any major harm. The search has to be on for a younger replacement though ready for next year if we offer a new deal.

Anyway Salgado may want a new deal but that doesn't mean he will be offered one.
