We don't have to go mad , Im agree its not the best window but if we got in there and sorted just one or two out, say Adam that may put a few minds at a bit of rest regarding the finances

Hang on-----that's not the Steven Warnock that played for us for several years is it? I don't recognise him from that description.

He was decent at Rovers and always seemed whole hearted but he did go walkabout and get caught out of position a lot and seems to have lost whatever he had at Rovers as do many who leave us. I'd take him back if he were cheap but not at the expense of losing Samba.

'Judge them on January' was the general consensus on here, now it is 'judge them in the summer'.

Well said. Reality starting to dawn perhaps?

I'm right behind Venkys provided they live up to their promises.

I'll stand by a comment I made weeks ago----if this January transfer window is a failure I will never ever again believe anything the new owners say.

What would you class as a failure?

Anything less than a striker and 2 central mid-fielders all capable of going straight into the 1st team from the off.

Bentley would be perfect for one of those positions but apparently isn't even being considered. You'd have to ask why.

I suspect its because they can't afford him. All this Ronaldinho/Beckham stuff is free advertising with no reality behind it.

And if those 3 players are signed within a budget of 5 million, how would you feel then?

Bit harsh. Willing them to fail?

They are new to this game you know?

But kentaro and sem are not. My cat knows that if we are to push for top half as venkys desire we need midfielders, or have they changed Thor mind and will address it in the summer.

There is a lot of talk and no action so either follow up the talk or stop making promises then nobody will have anything to complain about

I don't think he is willing them to fail, just stating what a lot of us think at this point in time, venkys need to make this month count.

Personally I am not expecting 3-4 signings anymore just two decent midfielders will keep my faith in venkys.

Don't let us down venkys...........

His attitude is admittedly first class and he might well have been a world class player years ago.

This is now though and the harsh reality is he's not that good now.

Week in, week out, home and away, Salgado has been one of our more consistent performers since winning a regular place at the back end of last season. Having a player of his vast experience can only be a good thing for the younger players at the club. He might be 35 but his energy levels are still good and, like Tugay, his ability on the ball has not diminished with age. Renewing his contract for another twelve months would be excellent news for me.

furthermore, venky´s/kean has put an enourmous pressure on themselves, by going public with their statements, regarding transfers and money available to purchase. So its quite understandable, that some fans wants them, to put their money where their mouth is.

its still early in the transfer window, but nontheless its worrying, that there doesnt seem to be made progress, regarding our preferred targets(im going by what nicko has reported). rochina is on, but he doesnt fit the bill, when it comes to strenghtening the starting line up.

its a weird debate regarding salgado, he has been consistent after a period, where he needed to adapt. Given the right cirsumstances/£££, he could easely play another season.

I occasionally fear for Salgado when he's facing a particularly pacy winger, but thats it.

He's not always spectacular, he can't get forward as much as he used to, but he does his job well and consistantly.

I'm struggling to remember the last time I could say that about one of our full backs.

I'll take constanly solid over occasionally spectacular in that position every day of the week - sign him up!

Ill be gutted if Villa have an offer accepted and we don't match it, which it appears that article suggests.

If he then chooses to go to Villa before us, so be it, but we absolutely must do everything we can to bring him here, within reason obviously.

Can't understand all the fuss about Adam. I posted on another thread somewhere he came up on loan to my local team Ross County and didn't particularly impress. Then he was farmed out to St Mirren, back to Rangers, still didn't impress and was sold on by Rangers to Blackpool. Admittedly he's had quite a good season but he stands out in a "Championship side". We really need a good midfielder but I personally don't think he's the answer. Not an easy job to find someone without paying silly money.

I think the main point is, he's a lot better than what we've currently got there. Barring perhaps, a David Dunn of old but sadly I don't see him making a reappearance.

We shouldn't get suckered into paying more than £5m certainly, but if he toddles off to Villa for £3.5m then I'm not sure where we will get an alternative who can go straight into the first team and hit the ground running for that kind of money.
