The report suggests if villas bid is accepted we know the price and can match it and hopefully persuade Adam we are a better option.

Maybe he wasn't so hot 5 years ago in Scotland but things progress. I don't think he is a world beater but he is a vast improvement on what we have.

If fulham want dunn they can have him.

Maybe a cheeky bid for Jamie mackie?

I thought the idea was to judge the owners on Feb 1st, on their signings in the window, not during January and not simply based on idle speculation? I dont think anyone has shifted from that view. Their actions speak louder than any twitter account or any rumour. If they sign decent players then Im behind them. If they dont, then they deserve criticism. So far, im not complaining at the calibre of player we've been linked with, but we need some action.

Its very easy to have a go now in order to look smug in 2/3 weeks time. Just hope that most fans can rise above that.

Adam in the frame for Rovers

Interesting point from the article is that Adam would be interested in going to Ewood Park (no quotes though!).

Considering where he lives and where we are apparently going (to heaven!) I think we will fight of and look a more attractive club than Villa and Birmingham for Adam if we are in competition.

Very early start for me today and first opportunity to catch-up with any news.

Unsurprisingly, disappointing again.

Don't know about anyone else but think the would be signing of a Barca B striker (any better than Blackman ?) is very low priority when it's blatantly clear our midfield needs bolstering.

Beginning to think Rovers make it up as they go along now.

11th January and still loads of Venky's bashing.

Boring.

I'm certainly not 'bashing' Venky's, I have said that they should be judged on the 1st Feb, however we need to face the very real prospect of this window not reaching our expectations.

Then what? Many posters on here have constantly stated 'they have the window to prove themselves', a chunk of those posters are now saying 'err, actually January is a bad time, wait till summer'.

We have every right to be sceptical.

Can't understand all the fuss about Adam. I posted on another thread somewhere he came up on loan to my local team Ross County and didn't particularly impress. Then he was farmed out to St Mirren, back to Rangers, still didn't impress and was sold on by Rangers to Blackpool. Admittedly he's had quite a good season but he stands out in a "Championship side". We really need a good midfielder but I personally don't think he's the answer. Not an easy job to find someone without paying silly money.

I must say I was impressed by his ability to lose his marker and find space in the penalty box when he scored for us last September!

Boring.

And who are you, their PR company?

I don't see that much "Venky bashing" but a lot of concerned Rovers fans worried aboutt the way their club is being run. Can we not critisise the constant broken promises, can we not feel let down by the new management raising our expectations only to dampen them again?

If having a genuine concern for your club is "Venky bashing" then let me be the chief Venky basher!

We are 11 days in to the window - start beign sceptical around the 24th-26th if we haven`t got anyone, they have come out and said they are tryign to sign peple, FFS at least give the opportunity to do so, no one really has any idea how long it takes to transfer a player from comms to actaully writing and faxing paperwork, plus with new owners who are new to the game.

People are far too quick to jump on the band wagon, and then conviently, yet quietly dismount the band wagon on this message board

What expectations? They claimed that they were only going to invest £5m in the window and people screamed that was not ambitious enough, and now you're complaining that they've put your expectations up too high? So far they've not done a good job, far from it and I do not think that this window will be an overwhelming success but all we hear about is rumour and speculation. No one seems to know anything regarding their budget or intentions, which is how it should be. The only secure way we can judge whether they're doing a good job is by results and levels of investment. If we fail to sign decent players before Feb 1st then everyone can feel rightly angry.

Had Steve Kean not stated there would be signings before the qpr game then posters would not be panicking, you would think that with the window coming up the ground work would have been completed, venky's thus far are full of broken promises.

It took allegedly two hours for Spurs to sign Van Der Vaart.

As I posted in the Kean thread....

"We will be having a press conference (on Friday) ahead of the QPR game and at least getting one or two bodies in before then."

“Hopefully we’ll have one or two additions to come in before the Chelsea game to take pressure off the squad"

So why do I have to wait til the 24th to judge those comments? OK so the one about Chelsea might come true but I seriously doubt it....

No doubt we'll be "lookin to get one or two in before the Bolton game" next week. We don't have to wait until the end of the month to judge how transfers are being handled now!

We were told (albeit by nicko) that we wanted to get Adam over a month ago and yet people now seem to find it normal that we're letting other clubs go in first. The inference being that we are deal-getting geniuses, playing a savvy business game which Birmingham/Villa/Sunderland are obviously too amature to do like us clever chappies....

All I see is excuse, after excuse being made for why we haven't done the stuff our new owners/manager haven't even made a step towards getting these players.

Please see Steve Kean's comments I posted above, re: raising expectations...

Don't be so hasty brigrover.......... Some people on here have just completed 15 years of Walker bashing.

I'll stand by a comment I made weeks ago----if this January transfer window is a failure I will never ever again believe anything the new owners say.

I believed very little of anything they said BEFORE it even opened. Dodgepots imo. <_<
