Kean : So is david interested in coming back on loan

Bentleys agent: No

Its not football manager.

But Ronaldinho was interested was he? Is Bentley interested in coming back permanently then? We will never know.

Yet we are supposed to take interest in Beckham AND Ronaldinho seriously are we?

Nothing would give me greater pleasure to be wrong about this by the way.

We are 11 days in to the window - start beign sceptical around the 24th-26th if we haven`t got anyone, they have come out and said they are tryign to sign peple, FFS at least give the opportunity to do so, no one really has any idea how long it takes to transfer a player from comms to actaully writing and faxing paperwork, plus with new owners who are new to the game.

People are far too quick to jump on the band wagon, and then conviently, yet quietly dismount the band wagon on this message board

Have you seen how fast deals get done on transfer deadline day? within 12 hours, i don't think it takes long to sort out faxes and paperwork

As I posted in the Kean thread....

So why do I have to wait til the 24th to judge those comments? OK so the one about Chelsea might come true but I seriously doubt it....

No doubt we'll be "lookin to get one or two in before the Bolton game" next week. We don't have to wait until the end of the month to judge how transfers are being handled now!

We were told (albeit by nicko) that we wanted to get Adam over a month ago and yet people now seem to find it normal that we're letting other clubs go in first. The inference being that we are deal-getting geniuses, playing a savvy business game which Birmingham/Villa/Sunderland are obviously too amature to do like us clever chappies....

All I see is excuse, after excuse being made for why we haven't done the stuff our new owners/manager haven't even made a step towards getting these players.

Please see Steve Kean's comments I posted above, re: raising expectations...

But surely your wider expectations relate to the window as a whole and not simply on one week of the window. Kean saying that we'd get a player in before QPR and then not doing so isnt that much of an issue provided that the player arrives before February. As you quite rightly point out, there could be a multitude of feeble reasons as to why Venky's havent spent yet, however, there are still 3 weeks left of the window.

If the situation hasnt moved on then i'll be right along side you in slamming them for not being pro active in this window. Its not unreasonable to give them the benefit of the doubt for now. At the end of January that benefit ends and the scale of our transfer activity will decide whether Venky's have delivered.

Seems to be the same as any January window in so much as clubs are all playing a bit of poker, no-one wants to show their hand too early and risk being rinsed.

As soon as one club properly tips its toe in the water things start happening. No matter how much money we do or dont have we dont want to be paying over the odds just because we can.

If you come out and say your are going to be signing two players before the QPR game then don't, then say you'll sign two players before the Chelsea game then don't (although hopefully I'll be proved wrong on that one) it just makes you look like an amature.

Again, you don't have to wait til February the 1st if promises are being broken now.

And you dont announce an assistant manager will be revealed on Monday and he isnt, that the appointment will make everyone sit up and take note, which it has, we have taken note that nothing has happened. why dont we keep bloody quiet, we are making things worse for both our supporters and giving so much ammunition to our rivals to throw at us!

This. Exactly what I'm getting at, we may end up with 4 class signings by February 1st (although I doubt it), but it doesn't take away from the poor way in which they were handled.

Those were hardly promises. Hoping to have two players before QPR and not unveiling them was dissapointing but not terribly important. What's important is whether these players arrive this transfer window or not. Many managers state that they'd hope player x will sign by a certain date but then they dont, so I wouldnt call it amateurish. At worst it was a tad naive.

I agree, but this is continually happening, not just once, not niaive, inexperience and that is why we need experience within the club, Kean may be confident but he is inexperienced to say the least.

Before the QPR game we were lead to believe that we were on the verge of signing two players. We now know we haven't put a single bid in for any player other than a loan request for RSC at Citeh.

Even thinking you'd get two players in before the QPR game when you know your club hasn't even bid on anyone yet, let alone haggle the final fee, then write a contract for the player, haggle on that, medical etc is, I'm sorry, nothing short of amateurism.

I wish if people are going to accuse the club, owners or manger of lying, you should first check the quotes.

I am pretty sure that Kean said "hopefully we can get a couple of players in before the QPR game." HOPE, not a definite promise. The same with our assistant. Kean said that he hopes to get the man in early this week. He didn't actually say a specific day.

Relax. As far as I'm concerned we are in a pretty good position right now. We have started to win matches, playing some pretty interesting football, and players wants to extend their contract. Wether those players are old or whatever I don't care. Nobody wants to stay at a place unless they like it there.

I am as eager as you to see who might come through the doors, but I am happy for now. Kean seems to be given a real contract. Ruchina is on his way in shortly according to Nico. Salgado, Nelsen and Robbo wants to extend. Faxe Jensen as no. 2. It's not like the club is doing nothing!

Kean obviously has no input into the transfers or the appointment of the assistant manager. He really should refrain from being so definite about deadlines for bringing people in, it's way beyond his control and he's losing credibility quickly by doing it.

I appreciate that he's trying to be honest with the information provided to him, but as he's not the one negotiating then he needs to learn to diplomatically skip the questions when asked, or at the very least stop putting time frames on things.

I'm certainly not 'bashing' Venky's, I have said that they should be judged on the 1st Feb, however we need to face the very real prospect of this window not reaching our expectations.

Then what? Many posters on here have constantly stated 'they have the window to prove themselves', a chunk of those posters are now saying 'err, actually January is a bad time, wait till summer'.

We have every right to be sceptical.

if they spend 50p on a Mars Bar for David Dunn at half time this window, it is more than we would have had if they hadnt come in.

Yes, boring.

I'm sorry, are you sure about that?

Yep, just searched the last three pages and you are the only person to use either "lying", "liar" or "lie".

I have accused them of raising false expectations, but no one has accused them of "lying" which was a deliberately emotive word used by yourself to try and make the genuine concerns people have seem harsher than they actually are.

If you do want my personal opinion on Venky's though, I do think they have a habit of embellishing the truth...

Not true, the reason we had no money in the last window was because the Trust were on the verge on selling, you don't put alloy wheels on a car when you have three people ready to buy it as is. If no sellers were about, the Trust would have put money in. In fact, they even said that should the takeover fall though through that there would be money available in January so unless nicko was lying when he reported that the fact is we would have had money, and probably around £5m too given what nicko was saying before we were sold to Venky's

A colleague in Solihull has just picked this up from a Villa journo who ran a Q & A this morning:

Samba? I had a conversation about Samba a week ago and it was made clear Villa have enquired, but that they were probably going to leave their interest there. I think Blackburn are proving a bit difficult to deal with. Samba story won't go away though so I will try and get a fresh update to find out if Villa have revived their interest

We don't want to sell to fund our january shopping?

I thought that was Venky's strategy?

Sell our best players and buy rubbish players suggested by Kentaro (to earn them a few quid).

True Blue & White is going on my gnore list.

Repetitive, repetitive, repetitive
