we wont bid until blackpool accept a bid then we will match that bid but offer better terms

Love how so many people are taking us doing this as read.

What happens is we do come in and Adam says he wants to go to Villa because they made the effort the get him, I have seen players choose one club over another simply because they showed that they wanted the player more.

And why are people so confident we can blow Villa out of the water with any contract offer?

Just a quick point on the way people keep going on about Steve Kean promising there would be 2 new signings before the QPR.

Here is what he actually said -

"I hope by QPR we will have held a press conference to announce we have some more bodies in."

Steve Kean like all of us wants to get players in asap, he unfortunately has no control of it, its in the hands of JW.

Without wishing to nit-pick (I agree it's in Steve Kean's hands either), but I doubt John Williams has any say in it.

Your talking nonsense mate. If we match an offer Villa make, doesnt that show we want the player just as much as them? Just because they have mdae the first move, it doesnt mean we dont want the player any more or less than them.

Adam will judge who wants him more when it comes to personal terms, and who can convince him they are the right club for him.

Reading between the lines, I get the impression that Adam fancies the move to Ewood over the other clubs linked. Apart from not having to move, I think he maybe fancies working with Steve Kean. It just seems as though it's a badly kept secret that he wants to join Rovers.

I could be wrong though.

We have already declared interest in Adam and Im sure he is aware of that. The point I was making is that Rovers would not want to make an offer to Blackpool of lets say 5m for example when they would have happily accepted 4m or the current highest bid of 3.5 Villa have made. So when a bid is accepted then we go in and match it. Adam and his family live in the north west so rather than up sticks and move to a club who currently sit below us in the league, he would rather stay up here and with us having new owner, new targets/visions etc he may just choose us over that

It depends, if behind the scenes conversations have gone on 'off the record' between our people and Adam's and we're sure he wants to join us then I agree what I said would be irrelevant but I have seen players move and give the reason they didn't sign for another team in for them that they were impressed by how much team X tried to get them. Putting in an offer and upping in twice ceratinly shows more intent that only jumping in at the last minute where you can end up looking like nothing a hi-jacker.

If that's the case then fair enough, the "tactic" of not bidding until other clubs have set the bar is fine. However, if we know it (nobodies on a message board) then surely you'd think the people at Villa would too and thus not bid. If Villa thought he had his heart set of Rovers, and that he'd jump to us the minute they agree a fee why would they bother bidding? Why would they set themselves up as the fools that set the price for us?

Villa obviously think they are in with a chance...

Regarding Bentley, the manager isn't bound to sign every player people on here suggest. If he did we'd have a squad of about 120 players.

Also would Bentley really want to come back to Rovers with his tail between his legs? Go back to the club who intially gave him a chance, were he came on leaps and bounds and broke into the England squad, to leave us for bigger and better things, and failed completely? I know I wouldnt want to

Personally, I wouldnt like to see Bentley back here, he thought the grass was greener and he has learnt the hard way it always isnt, so good riddance.

On another note, Ive noticed we a 4th highest scorers in the league away from home!!!!!

Examples please.

Players will alaways come out with reasons they signed for one club, and not another. But we know the real reason is 99% of the time down to who offered them more wedge. Personally I dont blame them, I do the same in my line of work.

If no sellers were about, the Trust would have put money in. In fact, they even said that should the takeover fall though through that there would be money available in January

No they wouldn't have in my view and they certainly never said money would be available in January.

There was some suggestion from those sympathetic to the previous regime that there might be "a Plan B" if they didn't sell - that's as far as that went.

So that's a 6th "reason to be optimistic about Saturday's game (WARNING: BARREL MAY BE WELL AND TRULY SCRAPED)", then!! :D

Hunt felt wanted by Wolves

Paul Scharner felt wanted by WBA

I even made sure the example were other midlands clubs :D. But even though I agree that's not always the real reason, why are you so confident that..

a) Our contract offer is be better than Villa's

B) Villa won't up their offer to Adam as they've spent a lot of time on trying to get him.

Or should we wait until he's agreed terms with Villa then step in, like we're doing with the transfer fee? And I still want to know why Villa are bothering given that people on a Rovers message board already know they are wasting their time for our benefit?
