The tragedy of the situation is that whilst there have always been differences of opinion between fans this feels like the new ownership has triggered civil war between fans who are passionate about the Rovers.

It is triply difficult for supporters who are saying things are going horribly wrong at Rovers and I must admit on my part am beginning to wonder what is going on with the money side of things.

- we want things to be wonderful at Rovers, genuinely

- we are hearing so much that points to our club going down hill rapidly since the takeover

- the vast majority of what we are hearing is from sources outside of the club but even so nobody feels at liberty yet to go on the record.

I am clutching at a straw of hope that now John Williams has had three working days with a budget and authority to work on UK transfers, the silence that has descended is a return to professionalism.

Just out of interest, anyone now what is the day rate for paying Jerome Anderson to sit at Brockhall?

No way were the Trust going to spend 5million should the sale not have gone through. They finished bankrolling Rovers a long time ago.

If they didn't then we were in serious danger of going down due to having a small and weak squad, which recent injuries have blasted huge cracks in

What would you class as a failure?

Failing to acquire a play making midfielder, a holding midfielder, and a defender, whether RB/CB who has some versatility, as we need some cover in the back line. Kalinic, M. Diouf and Benjani can handle the striker duties for now.

In today's Sun, Fulham are weighing up a £2million bid for David Dunn.

Excellent. Dunn is obviously not all there, he's aging, and is on an expensive long term contract. Sell him, reduce the wage bill, and get Carick or Adam in.

We're one third of the way through the window! We should have signed 1.3333333333 players already!

I suspect the .3333333333 would be both illegal and messy, even the Wild West known as Lancashire, NW England. How/where would we stash/dispose of the other .66666666667? In Dunn's pies?

Barcelona B plays in Segunda División, the Spanish Championship, where they're currently 6th and in good contention for a play-off spot (Can't go up though due to being a "B" team.

My bad, they aint like Doncaster then, more like Watford. Point being if you haven't moved to the proper Barca team by 20 you'll probably never get there so no one should be that suprised if he joins us from "Barcelona".

I admit I didn't bother looking for an article that actually got the quotes right, but I heard the interview on (I think on Rovers TV), and my point was he put the word HOPE in there, pointing out that he did not promise anything. I take your point though. Sorry about that. :xmas:

How many more times...

QUOTE = ""We are looking at bringing in around four players, which is a lot of business in comparison to other clubs," he added.

"We will be having a press conference (on Friday) ahead of the QPR game and at least getting one or two bodies in before then."

The word "hope" isn't used but that is niether here nor there as my original point of Kean raising expectations uneccessarily (like he's done again by making similar comments about the Chelsea game) still stands.

I did not call Kean a "liar" which you have said and not retracted yet, nor am I "upset" that we didn't sign anybody. All I want is for Kean to STFU about bringing people in until he's actuially done it...why is that so irrational or hard to understand?

True Blue follows the mantra that if you repeat a lie/mistruth often enough, people will start to believe it

I think you have me and Venky's mixed up there mate.

If it's not people falsely accusing me of saying others are liars, I'm now being called one! But like Hawkizz I doubt you'll come back with any proof or quotes where I have lied.

You seem to be disagreeing with a post from nicko that he actually wrote, so actually you are calling nicko a liar. Fine by me but at least level your accusation at him and not the messenger.

ref. Carrick , great player , think he's one of the best passer's in PL , but things make me doubt that 1) the fee , wway too low imo and 2) fergie rarely lets 1st teamers leave mid season

True enough, The Walker Trust were gambling we would be able to stay up despite us using up less transfer fees than the rest of the league.

We did, admittedly, pay higher wages than some but, even so, the lack of being able to bring in reinforcements would likely have told eventually.

We were lucky that we had two managers in Hughes and Allardyce who could excel in such conditions. Hughes found bargains and Allardyce worked well with what he had, despite it not being pretty. However, one poor managerial appointment by Williams nearly did for us. If we had gone down, I cannot see how we would have got back up for some time.

So, there did appear to be a need to sell to owners who would then improve the squad.

Let's wait and see and hope that Venkys are true to their word. We don't need Ronaldinhos or Beckhams but we do need to bolster our thin squad, in particular the lacking-in-quality central midfield. An actual left-back would be nice too.

Our priority needs to be getting somebody in for the centre of midfield, wether that's Charlie Adam or somebody in on loan, to cover the injuries.

A few youngsters could also be useful, e.g. Rochina and the young lad from Crewe (if those rumours are true), but I can't see them having any impact on where we finish this season.

Other than that, I think our money would be wasted in the current market.

I don't see anybody who offers value for money and would materially add to our current squad.

Bentley...maybe, but it won't happen.

Still, Venkys most certainly promised 2-3 "big" players. If not Ronaldinho himself, than others that were going to elevate the club. If they lied about that, I guess they lied about investing anything into the club - that is certainly the case so far.

The evidence seems to point to the club trying to bring in a number of players, all of which have been made fairly public.

I for one think they'd all improve the team. We're eleven days in, and no major business has been done yet.

http://www.blackpoolgazette.co.uk/sports-news/Holloway-has-talks-with-Adam.6686700.jp

Salient quotes:

"The chairman has told me of two enquiries about Charlie. They have both been told very politely that unless it is an astronomical fee which takes the club forward we don't need to sell," said the boss.

"We are a well-run club and we have him for 18 months, so thank you very much. If you want him that much why didn't you buy him off Rangers?

"So of course I think he'll still be here come February 1. I see no reason why he won't be."

Holloway met with Adam, 25, after training yesterday to discuss the interest from other clubs.

The manager revealed: "I wrote down some teams I would definitely love him to go to. I asked him to fill out his own list. Maybe he has a few more he might consider, so I'll be interested to see that list," added the manager.

"But Charlie knows how far he has come with me. I told him what I wanted to do for him and it hasn't changed.

"I want him to go to a much bigger and better club than us, and I want him to go to a strong club which is in a good position and not a weak position – and that isn't happening at the moment.

"Charlie has known all along that I want him to benefit but until I get the right phonecall from the right type of people he is going to crack on with us and keep doing what he does for us."

Why do I get the feeling an honest list by CA would have at least 19 teams on it?

The likes of Adam, Santa Cruz, Wright-Philips etc could certainly be described as big players. They would certainly be straight in the first team squad.

So, if they pull some of those off, then all is well.

Guess we will just have to wait...

...like who?

Santa Cruz, Collins, Adams....these are the "improvements"? I suppose Adams might be better than nothing, but if some player from Blackpool is all that we can hope for, we're not going anywhere.

Santa Cruz, Duff, Adams, Warnock and (sigh) Ronaldinho have all been linked and would all improve out team IMO. You have a short memory, and an annoyingly repetitive nature. Sit back and wait to see what happens.
