[Archived] Transfer Window Part 3

Recommended Posts

The tragedy of the situation is that whilst there have always been differences of opinion between fans this feels like the new ownership has triggered civil war between fans who are passionate about the Rovers.

It is triply difficult for supporters who are saying things are going horribly wrong at Rovers and I must admit on my part am beginning to wonder what is going on with the money side of things.

- we want things to be wonderful at Rovers, genuinely

- we are hearing so much that points to our club going down hill rapidly since the takeover

- the vast majority of what we are hearing is from sources outside of the club but even so nobody feels at liberty yet to go on the record.

I am clutching at a straw of hope that now John Williams has had three working days with a budget and authority to work on UK transfers, the silence that has descended is a return to professionalism.

Just out of interest, anyone now what is the day rate for paying Jerome Anderson to sit at Brockhall?

Key point is just what is he doing there and what is his influence. Not seen any statement from Rovers about his role or how that might impact on JW etc

Valois, you better get on Wikipedia and correct the figures.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_English_football_club_owners

According to that (and no I have not edited it before you start) we have the second poorest owners in the E

PL. You better set them straight as obviously Venky's is a £1 billion business

Bit of a coincidence that there value is the same as what they bought us for also is it me or does it say rangers fc have invested £135m in arsenal

Blue & White you need to stop stalking me on here, it's getting a bit un-healthy. People will start to talk.

Your like a stuck record mate, and not a very good record.

And you need to stop the petty one-up-manship and actually answer the questions I ask. What in that post has anything to do with the discussion and what part isn't just a silly ad-hominem attack?

And just so you don't have to get the dictionary out (and yes that is also an ad-hominem)...

Ad hominem abuse (also called personal abuse or personal attacks) usually involves insulting or belittling one's opponent in order to invalidate his or her argument, but can also involve pointing out factual but ostensible character flaws or actions which are irrelevant to the opponent's argument. This tactic is logically fallacious because insults and even true negative facts about the opponent's personal character have nothing to do with the logical merits of the opponent's arguments or assertions.

what if there are problems with the fax machine, with technology on the final day? leaving it until then, can be a dangerous game to play. get it early and done with.

Besides which, don't we play important games during the rest of January? The point about the January window was, I thought, that it was an opportunity to improve a squad everyone agrees is very stretched---especially in mid-field.

When the January window becomes, in effect, the February window, we are missing valuable points. When anyone is finally available in February they will probably take sometime to bed in. And on and on it goes.

We had every reason to believe from comments by the owners and manager that several targets had been identified and we were ready to hit the ground running once the window opened.

Once again, the action has not matched the rhetoric and this has become the norm with these owners.

That's the worry and it remains however many people respond by slagging others off as "anti-Venkys" for stating it.

57 pages of nothing much.

Whatever happened to Transfer Thread 4 just to add some spice?

EDIT: Off topic but a West Ham player (obviously not an SEM client ;) ) has just been sent off for backhealing Larsson in the goolies and all he could do was shake his head as he left the field like it was some miscarriage of justice. Footballers really are dimwits

The only 1 bad thing about David Wheater is that he is close to signing for Bolton - 2.5m would be a bargain to consider they value cahill around £15 - £20 million.. Wheater and Jones could be very interesting partnership a few years time but for the time being I am a big fan of Nelson sinnce i went off him and pleaded with Givet & Samba partnership...

Also has Lallana just signed a new contract???

If we can get Roque though I am positive he could get a good partnership going with Kalinic :)

Robinson

Salgado Samba/Jones Nelson Givet/Warnock

Hoilett Adam Pederson Olsson

Kalinic Roque

*Dependent on who leaves and stays etc - But we could have athreatening bench: Bunn, Hanley, Dunn, Diouf, Diouf, Emerton, Nzonzi, Benjani, Andrews, Grella, Spanish Kid...

*I would also have signed Kyle Walker but maybe still worth it seeing how he does at Villa but I feel he will be afantastic player and good replacement for Salgado... Also showed class not celebrating against Sheff Utd when he scored...

I think Ramm, Linganzi, Morris, maybe even Hanley to an extent could be loaned out in the summer once our injuries have cleared up...

Newcastle & Sunderland battling for Larsson according to the local press up there - I know we have Junior but I would consider making a bid for him.

Figures are £1 million transfer fee and apparently he currently earns £10,000 a week at Birmingham, and is looking for at least double that (according to reports).

Guess centre of midfield is the priority and all funds will go there.

Proof as if it were needed that Wiki can't be trusted. Funny as it may be, I doubt even Burnley's owners are worth THAT little.

Edit: Okay, it's been put back from £0.02 now... but my point still stands.

Or how it may impact the premier League, last thing we need is a points deduction and fine!

Pretty sure I have read Stoke are looking at him as well. Definitely rate him, and before Hoiletts last 2 performances I was all for signing him, now im not so sure. With Jnr and Emo, not sure we would need him.

Not that I actually believe he has been anywhere near Ewood or Brockhall but other than upsetting philip L what is the problem with Jerome Anderson having input at the Club?

Maybe because you just edited that

You're not a Rovers fan are you?

319 recent posts all slagging off the new ownership/Steve Kean.

Btw you forgot yourself earlier in the thread. You accused someone of being "easily pleased" when they said they'd be happy if we only signed Adam this window yet as soon as someone suggested Adam wasn't good enough for Liverpool, you started praising him to high heaven.

Tsk tsk. Very sloppy work.

He's already on my ignore list.

Read this...

Very interesting, an other little bit of reading for those who think Vh Group is worth £1 Billion...

Since they took over, the company's financial power has been vastly exaggerated. Reports of a £1bn turnover and £100m profits may have sprung from confusion over multiples of rupees, lakhs (100,000 rupees) and crores (10m rupees). In Venky's (India) Ltd's annual report for 2009-10, last year's turnover is reported as 71,000 lakhs (7.1bn rupees), the pre-tax profit 8,200 lakhs (820m rupees). At yesterday's exchange rate of 0.0143 rupees to the pound, that amounts to a £100m turnover, a £12m profit, about a 10th of what was initially reported.

Not in the billionaire class, then, but healthy, of course, for a company founded in 1971 by Desai's father, Padmashree Dr Banda Vasudev Rao. His vision, reaffirmed in a corporate speech by Desai last June, was: "To see India in the No1 position on the poultry map of the world."

Re. Wheater- I'd prefer him to Collins at Villa. He's younger and there's room for improvement there I think. Smart move on Coyle's part if Bolton can get him.
