cruz Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 I think a return of Stevie Warnock wouldn`t be a bad thing for the club.....I think he was caught out of position quite a bit due to the shape of the team and possibly becuase of the way he was being asked to play. I think he would be a good addition at left back, with Morten infront of him. So he was poor in a flat back 4 with Morten in front of him. So we should re-sign him and play him in a flat back 4 with Morten in front of him?

Is this the same Steven Warnock that was in the England setup and won player of the year? He was a decent full back, and whilst I'm not one for bringing players back,it wouldn't be a bad move.
Guest Walshy Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Nice article in the LT today from Kevin Gallagher about us throwing what money we can to get Mr Adam in. I think he has also been reading this thread and makes comments about us fans need to be patient and that we should judge the owners when the windows slams shut
Mayfield Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Worth a shot Fabiano That would be a brilliant coup and i'd love him to come to Ewood, Kalinic and Fabiano would tear the Premiership defenders to shreds!
nicko Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 ROCHINA...didn't bother updating it because I think it will happen very shortly. RAMSEY...could not come on loan...Roque's name is still down for that berth...unfortunately.
hawkiiz Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 ROCHINA...didn't bother updating it because I think it will happen very shortly. RAMSEY...could not come on loan...Roque's name is still down for that berth...unfortunately. Rochina: I saw someone linking to a paper saying we had yet to actually bid for Rochina. (I didn't read the article myself, but it was "translated" so the translation could have messed ut up). Can you confirm that we HAVE bid for him and are in talks with the player over his personal terms? Or... at what stage exactly are we now?
Hughesy Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Not sure where Ramsey has been picked up from. I said Blackpool are trying to get him on loan...not us - so perhaps that highlights the fact Adam could go? Taken from the guy who drives the Venky & kentaro boys around “Keep your eye on the news this afternoon” – sounds like an announcement is due today – whether it be Keans contract, Jensen as assistant or a new player im still trying to find out…..perhaps all 3?
brigrover Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 With regards to re-signing Warnock, I can't find an example but I'm sure I have heard in the past that players don't realise what a good club/setup we have at BRFC until they have moved away. If he came back we might just see him back to his best. I'd like to see him back, but, same as any signing, at the right price.
MarkBRFC71 Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 What does this post mean? Are you saying this is pure coincidence and there's nothing for the "usual suspects" to worry about? Or are you saying there might be something in it and you're not worried about that coke-head managing us so long as you can have a laugh at the "usual suspects"? In truth you've no more idea than the rest of us whether Maradona is heading our way or (praise the lord) going somewhere else have you? For God's sake, chill out! We both know that the resident drama queens will choose to jump on the timing of the visits as another stick to beat Venky's with. It's predictable and laughable. It could happen, and I have my reservations about Diego but if he does come then let's give him chance to prove or disgrace himself before we hang him out to dry?

Id love it to be all 3 but its Adam signing rather than the Rochina lad!! Id be happy as a pig in sh1t then
fozzer Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Does no one remember how utterly useless Warnock was in defense? A hard worker for sure, but the lad does not know the first thing about defending. No better than Chimbonda. Stevie, was sometimes caught out of position but to say he knows nothing about defending is a insult! Stevie was the best tackler at the club at the time and would be if he came back whether in midfield or defense. I personally could see him coming back for the DM role more than full back.... We desperately miss somebody who can tackle, I can't remember the last time we threw in any decent challenges in the middle of the park. Though Mokeana was crap but we have missed any sort of bite in there since he went. Grella... When fit looks good, passes well and tracks and marks well but haven't seen much of the great tackling he was renound for Nzonzi... Athletic, again very simple passer of the ball but keeps it moving also tracks, heads, and marks well but not much of a spoiler. Dunn... Does now and again throw himself into a challenge but not the greatest and is suited further up the pitch! I personally would move him to either left or right when/ if a new midfeilder comes in! By no means the quickest but if you can give him an over lappinging fullback could easily make the yard for decent delivery!
aXept Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Nicko: Is Liverpool in the race for Adam ? If they are, do we have any chance to get him then ? I've read it a couple of places now that they are...
47er Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Is this the same Steven Warnock that was in the England setup and won player of the year? Taggart Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 So he was poor in a flat back 4 with Morten in front of him. So we should re-sign him and play him in a flat back 4 with Morten in front of him? Not quite what I meant, and I did mention Ollson playing there as well as Pedders - I was referrign to him being caught out of postion, the way as Samba does when he is trying to rescue a situation. I just don`t think he was that bad a defender and would be a good option for us at left back IMO
Hughesy Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 SSN reporting Liverpool in for Adam Also Villa have turned down Sunderlands approach for Downing Also Villa in for Figeroua (Nicko mentioned yesterday) and Hugo Rodallega

No lets not---he doesn't deserve a chance and if he disgraces himself it will be at Rovers cost. And there would be less drama around if people like you weren't on a wind-up the whole time. If Venkys sign up that slob that the reaction would be would be predictable and laughable wouldn't even come close.
alexanders Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 I for one would put on my Maradona shirt size 5 yrs old if it happens!

First thing he will do is hold a meeting accross from Ewood in McDonalds and also be asking for local dealers numbers. I dont want to see that cheating, druggie slob at our club EVER. I think the only time I would allow him near Ewood is the slap him and say that for our nation for cheating!!!

Mercer Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 SSN reporting Liverpool in for Adam Total dismay. Supposedly our top target and, seemingly, we've done SFA to secure him other than sit on the fence, probably dithering. Why the hell are we after Rochina & RSC when we have Kalinic, M. Diouf, Roberts, Benjani and Blackman, a young lad who's proved he can score goals in the SPL. It's so obvious that we need 2 class midfielders - O'Hara & Adam in tandem would have been awesome. Totally bemused, dismayed and wondering what the hell is happening to the club that I've supported for more than 40 years.
MarkBRFC71 Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 It amuses me that people are SO against Maradona - but were jumping through hoops at the prospect of signing Mutu. Hypocrisy, much?
LeChuck Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Total dismay. Supposedly our top target and, seemingly, we've done SFA to secure him other than sit on the fence, probably dithering. Where has this idea come from that he's our top target? There is absolutely nothing of substance to suggest that is the case. It amuses me that people are SO against Maradona - but were jumping through hoops at the prospect of signing Mutu. Hypocrisy, much? As far as I'm aware, isn't it the 'Hand of God' incident that makes some people hate Maradona?
alexanders Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 and wondering what the hell is happening to the club that I've supported for more than 40 years. Because we would sign both O'hara and Adam or a couple of other midfielders like we used to?
