Clearly, Steve Kean believes he can improve him, but if he doesn't he'll be hanging around like Maceo Rigters, picking up wages without making a contribution to the first team.

I think this is one of the reasons why coaches regularly struggle to make the step up. Some of them seem to believe that they can sign average players and improve them enough to make a higher level - ALA Brian Kidd.

I don't know why you stuck that sarcasm on the end, you wrote about his car not his ability, and my post didn't even quote yours.

For what it's worth, his two goals were against a Championship side, that's his level.

Sarcasm??

Says out of contract next season, when we all know he still has 18months left, lazy journalism, from a journo with a poor reputation. Move on.

Pretty much the same as RSC then. From what I here from a couple of Leeds lads he is looking fit again, and has sorted him self out.

18 months from now brings you to june/july 2012. I believe that is next season!

I'm not saying that derbyshire is any better or any worse than what we have, nor am I saying he could be signing for us. Just can't get my head around him staying at the star lodge, if he is visiting family wouldn't he stay with them ??

My parents have no room and I wouldn't want to stay with them anyway

Has anyone considered Derbyshire was on the bench at West Ham last night, prob drove up late last night after the game, and checked into the hotel

Other news, looks like Larsson's move to Newcastle has fallen through, putting the Bentley deal in doubt.

SSN confirm John Jensen has been announced as Assistant.

People please stop going on about Jamie O'Hara, my mate who is a Spurs season ticket holder has told me he has a long term injury, but nobody really knows to much about it, a bit similar to the N'Zonzi situation here. Despite that his girlfriend Danielle Lloyd has just had a baby, they wouldnt want to leave London.

What a strange, strange piece of text. Despite his injury Danielle Lloyd had a baby? Nobody knows about his injury yet you think it's bad enough to stop him having kids?!

Danielle Lloyd is from the north. The baby, on account of being...you know...a baby, won't be settled in any schools or anything. Why couldn't they move? I'm pretty sure a footballer's wife knows the chances of moving around are pretty high, even one as thick as Mrs Lloyd. She might even want to move back north.

If O'Hara could pass a medical he would be a brilliant signing, he's a fantastic footballer.

Thats not next season then, that would be the end of next season. Next.

Dazmaz was completely correct. His contract has 18 months to run, and therefore runs out next season. If it was to run out this summer, then it would run out this season. it's an easy concept.

Can you not start thinking about what you're posting? It's hard work reading it.

I think - to add support to this - we are after a midfield player that couldn't make it in the SPL !

Just to put my two pennorth in for what it's worth as someone who has lived Scotland for 31 years and been a regular watcher at several clubs, but mostly Dunfermline (home and away). Yes the standard overall of the SPL is lower than that of the EPL....no dispute about that. But having said that it is not all that much worse, and it certainly does NOT mean that many of the Scottish clubs cannot or do not play very entertaining football, and with no lack of skill either. I watched Dunfermline recently and was very impressed with the entertainment on show. I found myself looking at fast raiding wingers and sweeping passing movements plus goals with excellent finishing. The only thing that I could fault them for was crap defending and giving silly goals away. All this when at that time I was watching a Rovers team under Big Sam, and the difference really showed. And DAFC are currently only in the Scottish First Div (but topping it).

Also forgive me for saying this but there is absolutely no doubt that the average English fan who has never been exposed to Scottish football for any extended period tends to have a completely distorted and wrong view of the Scottish standard of football. And before anybody gets over excited about that assertion, let me say right away that I was as guilty of it as anyone before I came up here.

And to give you an illustration:- Way back in the 70's I was a season ticket holder at Rovers when the Anglo-Scottish Cup was first introduced. In the first game of this competition Rovers were drawn at home to Motherwell. Now at the time Rovers were a 3rd Div side and Motherwell were a Scottish 1st Div side. I along with just about all my friends and relations that were Rovers fans too were ALL in agreement that this was a virtual walkover for Rovers (it's only a Scottish side ha ha ha!) But when the two legged match was played the reality was somewhat different. And so it proved to be on a number of subsequent occasions against other Scottish clubs in that same competition in other years whilst it lasted.

So for all those with either convenient memories, or who were not around at the time; things are not always as you like to fondly imagine them. Show a little respect please.

With all of the transfer rumors slowly falling apart (Ronaldinho, Beckham, Adam, RSC, Duff, ??) is it time to panic? I saw another rumor linking Dunn to Fulham, if anything this transfer window could see Dunn and Samba off to Fulham and Villa respectively and nobody come the other way in return. I would like to remain positive by saying it's only Jan 12 and it's still early and so on, but I am not seeing many players linked to the club.

Could it be the reason why Blackman got a new contract is that he is represented by SEM

No, it was to tie Blackman down in order that Rovers can get a better price for when they sell him, rather than have him leave on a free.

Nicko told us this over a week ago.

The only players that are likely to improve our squad for the remainder of this season are those have been playing regularly for their clubs.

I struggle to see how many of the potential targets discussed on here will be able to make an impact between now and the end of the season.

If that's the case, then what's the point in signing them? Might as well wait until the end of the season.

A couple of loan signings would surely be enough in the short-term (just not RSC).

The RSC signing is only likely to increase the ever-growing workload of our medical team.

I've given up hope of any marquee signings, to be honest I'd like somebody to plug the gapping hole we have in central midfield be it loan or permanent and not to sell anybody. Hopefully we can get somebody in to plug the gap before the Chelsea game, I'm sick of the PR crap about all our supposed big signings, if you have or haven't got the funds just get us what we need to secure survival.
