I'm Argentine and I don't read that way. Maradona is a sick man like Georgie Best or Gazza are. If I call out either one of those guys are you offended as a Brit? Now if 47er had said, 'those argie coke snorting, so so s' ---

(which I have read here before) then I'd be annoyed because it 's off on a complete tangent from the original point of Rovers and their future boss- aside from slagging off an entire nation for some unimportant crap.

I wasn't being serious but the general inference was that he is a God in Argentina, 47er was disrespecting Diego ergo Argentinians would not be happy. (We know what happens when you disrespect someones God, not pretty).

But I didn't really mean it. I know it isn't offensive to Argentina

If it turns out to be a "paid-in-full wages loan" he better start banging them in quickly! Would make him the best paid player in the club by a country mile if previous reports are to be believed - big risk that hopefully pays off. Wasn't he paid in the vicinity of 100k£ a week at City? In two minds over this....

Only when it is done.

And, as we speak, it is not done.

However Man City appear to be coming to their senses over a full-time move...so a paid-in-full wages loan is now likely.

I don't get this one. But there we go.

Thanks Nicko, not sure about the move, especially if we are paying his full wage, as long as Venkys are paying, who cares. Really hope he can re-discover his form again.

If you read back DMTP I think you will see that I was actually supporting what you were saying. I must have worded it badly.

Fife - no, no, no - we can't have two people agreeing on the MB - it will go into melt down.

12 o clocker to get things sorted with Adam

I seriously doubt rovers would agree to take on his full weeks wages, city often help out with a percentage of the wages.

any news on other targets?

Wonder if Nicko & some rovers officials will be at Blackpool later?! lol

I hope they don't forget their briefcase full of $$$$$$. The Rovers' officials that is, because I highly doubt

Nicko will be doing us any favor. :P

Neither do I, for what its worth. Yes, he's a good forward but keeping him fit and scoring will be a full time psysio job.

I dont understand why everyone's getting so uptight about the lack of movement in the transfer window. This happens every window, to every club, and we end up with a mad last 24 hours when all the deals that have been simmering under all month suddenly come to fruition.

What really concerns me is the way that our new owners are handling the whole situation, and the way they come over in the media. I probably have more knowledge of running a football club through playing CM than this lot have, but thats for another thread.

Don't believe everything you hear/read about our infatuation w/ Diego. We're all be eternally grateful for Mexico 86 (and all that it entailed: cup, hand of....blah blah blah) and the hobbled hero routine in Italia 90 however there's a growing percentage (comprised of the younger, more with it segment) that see his post retirement behavior as increasingly appalling -

South Africa 10 and the build up to it being the cherry on the sundae. Marcela Araujo y Mora's blogs in the Gruniad the past few years (think she's gone now, thou) make for very good reading on this subject.

Anyway, my apologies for straying off course here.

Both are targets. Both want to come.

Rochina is straightforward from what I hear.

Roque is still a debate with Man City.

There might be a 12 o'clocker [note time].

someone close to signing??

If we are bringing in Roque and the Barcelona kid does that mean we are getting rid of Robert's.

Does he still want to leave or is he happy now that Sam is gone?

Cant see the need for 5 forwards even when we play two up top.

Does the Spanish kid take up a place in our 25 as he's under 21. I know Roque will but not sure what the rules are on youngsters from abroad.

Yeah RSC on loan, apparently having a medical as we speak.

Think he is only 19 so would count as under 21, pretty sure he doesnt take up a place in the 25, even though he is foreign.

Would of thought Roberts will go, plus Benjani in the summer.

Two of our strikers are loanees. I know there is plenty of chat about us signing one or both permanently but neither are guaranteed. Benjani, recent improvement not withstanding isn't necessarily a long term option and won't be costing us a lot.

So I see no immediate need to get rid of Roberts. As long as he doesn't take shooting advice from Jensen, he's bad enough as it is!

I know we've been hearing about 'the return of Crocky' for the better part of 4 weeks... but I am stunned this is actually happening. I've been crossing my fingers that it was just talk or that if real, it would disappear like a fart in the wind......... :(

i just don't see the 'ambition' in bringing in a guy who'll keep the physio busier than the rival center-half.

Nicko, I know there are big doubts over Roque's fitness, but is this the only reason that you don't understand why we're in for him?

Personally, if he can stay fit, and I understand it's a huge if, then he'll be a massive signing for the remainder of the season.

Blackman was on £800 a week, probably got a rise to £2,500 a week.

I think he will just be happy to count his cash...and see what comes along.

So it works that way.

Somebody must think there is a £250,000 deal in him down the line.

Maybe the agents have fed that line to the Rovers?

Posted

Roque+Kalinic+Benjani+Roberts+Mame. Blackman?

That forward lineup will keep us up this season and in the summer we can look to replace Roberts and Benjani.
