Miker Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 I hope we're looking to sign a full back now, if we've signed Santa Cruz. With Roberts, N'zonzi, Grella, Andrews and Kalinic coming back into the team now, the only place we're short of cover in is full back. Givet and Olsson are our only left backs, but neither should be playing there. Salgado is our only right back (Chimbonda is just dead weight) and needs some cover.
G Somerset Rover Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Banton seems like he has one major attitude problem. Surprised Liverpool are gonna take him on with his constant hissy fits.
bennyboyt11 Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Maybe Liverpool are preparing for life in the Championship?
Valois Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Banton seems like he has one major attitude problem. Surprised Liverpool are gonna take him on with his constant hissy fits. Was just thinking the same myself to be honest. Anyone who leaves Arsenal at a very young age due to lack of progress through the ranks, is a problem waiting to happen. Suppose he thought by coming up to little oldBlackburn he would just walk straight into te first team. At least he will have a chance of getting straight into the Liverpool first team I guess.
Parsonblue Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 How many 1st team games has he played? Think Lowe has stepped ahead of him in the pecking order too....oh and dont forget Keef & Vince should be back soon Watching the Reserves this season I think Linganzi is a much better prospect than Lowe or Goulon. Hopefully, a spell in the Championship will enable him to play first team football and come back ready to challenge for a spot in our first team.

Agree, but would of thought a centre mid will be higher on the list of priorities. But i'd like us to bring in a promising right back who can learn from Salgado.

Too complacent there--------Grella will possibly last till half-time and then we won't see him for months, not that he's very good anyway. Andrews is hopeless------remember? Dunn is struggling, Jones is injured. So the priority remains what it always has been-------central mid-field. And who are we linked to who could resolve it? Nobody apart from Adams who is courted by lots of other clubs. Go and get Bentley Venkys if you really want to make a difference.
Backroom Tom Posted January 12, 2011 Backroom Posted January 12, 2011 Watching the Reserves this season I think Linganzi is a much better prospect than Lowe or Goulon. I hope the club see's a future for him and are sending him away to bring him on a bit as he looks the part.

He's already gone to Brum on loan, and as its been said many a time, there's no way he would want to come back to Rovers, his ego wouldnt allow it. Agree its a bit worrying we have only been linked with Adam, I live in hope things are happening behind the scenes, and we just dont know about it.
RoverRich Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Surprised to see Banton going but if he is only 18 and already threw 2 hissy fits because he is not getting first team football then he must be yet another player with too big an ego as well as a bit of an attitude. He hasn't really broken through here and we have been short on strikers recently so shouldn't be too much of a loss, especially with Rochina coming in and possibilities of other new players. Don't know what he expects by going to Liverpool though. They are hardly a team who throw youngsters into the team but then again the way things are going there it might be worth a try!

Hopefully, a spell in the Championship will enable him to play first team football and come back ready to challenge for a spot in our first team. Sorry should have made myself clear. I dont think Lowe is ahead ability wise, just preference by the manager. Him getting a chance against QPR ahead of Linganzi spoke volumes I thought. I respect your knowledge as you attend them all - are you just a mad fan or do you have a lad on our books?
Parsonblue Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Roque in http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Transfer-news-Blackburn-are-ready-to-close-a-deal-to-bring-Roque-Santa-Cruz-back-to-Ewood-Park-on-loan-by-paying-all-of-the-Manchester-City-strikers-90-000-a-week-wages-article671403.html Banton out http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Transfer-news-New-Liverpool-boss-Kenny-Dalglish-has-gone-back-to-old-club-Blackburn-to-make-England-youth-international-striker-Jason-Banton-the-first-signing-of-his-second-spell-at-Anfield-article671409.html No surprise in Banton leaving. He has looked very poor this season and I find it difficult to believe that Liverpool have offered him another opportunity at this level. I hope the lad can get his head down and make a go of it on Merseyside. There is no doubting his ability but his attitude seems to be a different matter at times. As for paying Roque £90,000 a week, it's just plain crazy. He's a good centre-forward when fit but he needs service. Without a decent supply of crosses or through balls he's not going to score too many. If we have that kind of money for Roque, I would hope that the boat is really pushed out to get Charlie Adam. Roque is going to need somebody to make the bullets for him to fire. I respect your knowledge as you attend them all - are you just a mad fan or do you have a lad on our books? Sadly, I've been a mad Rovers fan for 50 years - I'm sure I'll grow out of it one day

We definitely need a central midfielder but if Grella was fit he would be a superb player for us. A player who has the discipline to sit in front of the defence and break up play is invaluable these days. Whether we went with a "proper" defensive mid or not he would provide a great option if needed. Plus he can pass a bit which is a bonus, especially seeing as we have players moving into space to receive passes now. Andrews is a good squad player as well, talent deficient but good enough to do a job when required. Not entirely sure why you want Bentley to resolve our centre mid inadequacies. I would like him back too, but do we need another winger? Pedersen, EH Diouf, Emerton, Olsson, Hoilett, Dunn and Mame Diouf can both play out there too. As for right back, have people forgotten that Emerton is more than capable there?

Problem is Emo is away with Oz for potentially 1 month, I would be happy for us to bring in a 19 year old right back with potential as an understudy for Salgado. Bentley can also play centre mid, but he has gone to Brum any how. Adam has to be our priority, and once the RSC deal is resolved tomorrow alog with the young Spanish lad, you would hope weturn our full attention on to him.
Hughesy Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Adam, Hoilett, Olsson, MGP - id be confident with those 4 we could supply RSC with plenty of chances. Olsson whipped some lovely balls in against Liverpool.
Rover & Out Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 We'll see how Linganzi gets on at Preston but i'd be surprised if he makes it at Blackburn. It's taken a midfield injury crisis like we're having now, just for him to get a place on the bench. I know he's not even been here for a year yet (just), but I would have expected him to at least be knocking on the door of the 1st team by now.
Hughesy Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Sadly, I've been a mad Rovers fan for 50 years - I'm sure I'll grow out of it one day Banton is bang average from what iv seen, even at youth levels - and considering he has form for kicking off, he's no suprise. Nothing wrong with that mate - you know anything of this Cotton fella? 16 years old just, he got skills?
Andy Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 I've heard that Cotton is a Billy Big ###### himself. Not sure if he's quite on the same level as the Bantons and Sergio Peters of this world, but apparently needs bringing down a level or two already.
Pedderz0912 Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Nicko you have 3 minutes, my laptop battery is running out lol..

If the priority is central midfield (which I agree with) how would that be solved by bringing in a right winger?
john.leigh Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 confused there seems to be conflicting posts as to who is actually paying the wages for RSC My first impression was that City were fully funding the loan? Nicko can you clarify??
cruz Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 According to Alans mirror article he believes Rovers are going to pick up the full 90k a week tab
Parsonblue Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 Banton is bang average from what iv seen, even at youth levels - and considering he has form for kicking off, he's no suprise. Nothing wrong with that mate - you know anything of this Cotton fella? 16 years old just, he got skills? He made a couple of sub appearances for the Reserves in pre-season and has figured quite a bit for the Under-18's this season. It will be interesting to see if he can break into the Reserves on a regular basis, in the same way that Jackson Ramm did last season when he was 16/17. From what I've seen, he looks a very talented midfielder who can get about the pitch and can make a decent pass. Young Knowles is another decent midfielder to look out for in the future. The Academy and the Reserves - under Gary Bowyer and Iain Brunskill - are producing some very promising young players and Brunskill, in particular, has the Reserves playing some very attractive football.
bonger 26 Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 According to Alans mirror article he believes Rovers are going to pick up the full 90k a week tab would much rather we pick up some up and coming tallent for that amount of money. or give young blackman a run
