[Archived] Transfer Window Part 3

Recommended Posts

Adam is going to be one almighty fight. Shame he is playing so well just now. But that's life. The player has one eye on the exit door, the manager and chairman are blocking it. Money talks. But how much will it take? Rovers would love to see him signed, but you have to be sensible with valuations. I heard a figure last night - if it's true he won't be going anywhere.

Until last night, I'd flagged £6.5m as the price on his head and that brought howls of derision from some MB users! I guess you are saying that the bar is now significantly higher with all the interest and his performances ?

So far Rovers look like they've absolutely no idea regarding transfers, in what they need, or what they are doing.

Come on Anderson and Kentaro pull your fingers out.

Pretty sure I read similar comments like this under our previous owners...

Now is not the time to criticise, let's wait and see where we are on the player front when the window has closed.

The biggest bid is £3.5 million.

You had him at £5 million and then £6.5 million in the space of an hour.

Thank **** you are not doing the negotiating.

Care to explain?

Looking solely for players to come into Rovers who can make a difference, not a young kid who or may or may not have potential, and an ex injury prone highly expensive player.

So far its running along similar lines to the previous regime which i'm sure the Trustees could well have stretched to a paltry £5m for this window if they were still around.

Everyone of us should be looking at Anderson and Kentaro to deliver for Blackburn Rovers. Ok, its early days but so far from Nickos posts they havent been encouraging AT ALL and we are fast approaching the end of this open window.

Id argue he isnt worth more than the 3.5 million Pounds Villa bid. But we all know the premium that comes with being British.

What do you mean by that? They're obviously looking to bring in one striker for now and one for the future, as well as a central midfielder. I think Rovers know what they're doing, but not so sure that you know what you're talking about.

The amount of people who have obviously not seen Adam play other than the odd highlight is frustrating.

He is worth more than £3.5m, easily.

To clarify those remarks. I said that I believed a 'knockout' bid of £5m would have landed him on 01 Jan. and I don't think many would dispute. Last week at the Brum match, a friend with connections at Bloomfield picked-up that the price on his head was £6.5m. Two entirely different statements if read and understood properly.

As for negotiating, I buy and sell many commodities reasonably successfully, so I might be better placed than some!

You havent any idea whats going on behind the scenes so how on earth can you judge? You simply believe what fits your arugments. You want players who can make a difference - so you now know who we're after?? Would Charlie Adam not make a difference?

Roque on loan isnt a bad shout and will make a difference if fit.

Trustees stretching to £5m?? What, as they did the last window when we signed Benjani on a free and Diouf on loan??

To be fair, you can't blame anyone for doing so.

Every transfer window for the last few years we've had speculation right up until the close of the window, and ended being massively disappointed.

I don't buy this rubbish about being too late on Charlie Adam by the way. Is anyone really naive enough to think an early bid would have got him? Seriously? That is not how football transfers work!

Who have Birmingham signed?

When I said we should go for Bentley I was told he'd already signed for Brum. Haven't checked it and assumed it was true. So ask him whoever it was.

In any case we don't seem to be interested. I keep being told Bentley will never come back here but I'd prefer it if he were asked.

Didn't you hear? The Trust had a change of heart and were secretly hoping the takeover failed so that they could give Sam a huge warchest to make an assault on the top 6.

They also wouldn't have interfered or done anything that couldn't be considered positive by anyone.

They were ace

The problem is you, I or any of us for that matter dont know whats going on behind close doors, we have been lambasted recently for going public with our targets, surely keeping your cards close to your chest is the better option?

Adam is clearly there main target, do they have a plan B if they fail to land him? Who knows? You would hope so, but why go chasing a plan B, when plan A hasnt failed yet?

As for the trust releasing 5million for transfers in a Jan window, unheard of in recent times.

So a loan signing with others in the pipeline. Sounds like us.

Unless you count signing an assistant manager which means we have been more active.

I count Bentley as the best possible signing for us with our weak mid-field. Says a lot that we are not/were not interested.

I would say Kean was correct in knowing that we needed a striker rather than a right midfielder. We already have Diouf, MDiouf and Hoilett in that position.

So I'm glad you arent conducting the transfer business

I couldn't agree more.

In business and football it is key to make sure you don't overpay. When we know that he is interested in coming the waiting game isn't that dangerous a game to play. If Villa agree a fee we can simply match it at say £5m, rather than jump straight in at £6m and pay £1m more than we needed to. The danger of Liverpool(or other big 4) jumping in would be present in either situation and waiting doesn't damage us apart from not giving us the potential to look targets should we miss out.

A knockout bid? Transfer window opened 4th Jan btw ;)

I would imagine that Blackpool would have been keen to have left to bidding process open to maxmise the profit.

your mate must be highly trusted within Blackpool circles to get a figure, strange that if clubs knew this that they would start the bidding at a third of the asking price. As Barry Fry said about Villa's bid for Joe Lewis "It's an insult to me, the boy and the club".

Get on the apprentice or ring Venky's and ask for a job.

We need a real central midfielder. We have enough wingers masquerading as central midfielders without a big time charlie

Your obsession with Bentley is starting to get a little strange. You need to let him go.

If, and I doubt we were interested, how do you know a call to his agent wasnt made, when he was made available for loan? The straight answer we would of got is No.

Do you buy and sell football players?

We'd have been silly to go for a knock out bid because it's rare a transfer bid is accepted on first offer unless it triggers a clause. Nobody starts with their highest bid.

Just keep doing what we are doing and let them fight, then step in if we deem the price to be worth it.
