One player to definitely avoid then.

At least Roque will have someone to talk to in the injury room.

18 league starts and 2 sub appearances this season = "not playing"?

Sorry you are right 18 starts is not bad, do you know how many assists he has had?

Just catching up. There were plenty of people talking about Larsson before Nicko's story so getting him in is fair enough. Would VASTLY prefer it to be now, however. We are in need of reinforcements to see us in good stead for the rest of the year. Maybe Birmingham's apparent dilemma will prompt a renegotiation on the price and a mutual agreement to be had.

I don't see Hoillet as a long term centre-mid proposition. We need a box to box type player there in this window, in my view.

January is a difficult time to a deal where the club don't get mugged off but reading between the lines, Adam is obtainable for a significant but not ludicrous fee so I will be disappointed if reasonable efforts to sign him are not made. We paid £7.5m for Ferguson back in the day. That one would seem one to drag on till February by the looks of it though.

Although I really don't like blue nose Barry after he got injured and then moved back to Rangers. He was playing well and having and impact on the games. Shame he could not have stayed longer to be honest. But I guess when you wife tells you to move back to Glasgow that is what you do.

So your mate has admitted he is currently rubbish. Well that explains why he is not playing for Brum. If we sign him I will back him as he is a Rovers player but seriously who is excited by him??

Would have rather had Bentley who we know what he can do. Doubt Larsson has ever played as good as Bents did the season before he was sold.

Why is he quality? I have don't see it at all.

Im sorry but how do you see someone saying a player has lost his way slightly the same as saying they are rubbish. Surely if this theory is true (and it isnt by the way), the same would have to apply to Bentley, who has also lost his way at Spurs.

I believe the season Brum went down Larsson was by far and away there stand out performer, and won their player of the year award. I'm guessing he was hoping for a move away after they were relegated, however he ended up staying and hasnt hit the same hights since, although has been fairly solid, and first team regular the last couple of seasons, and for Sweden. Pretty sure he has been a regular in the first team this season also. 18 starts in 20 games.

If your going to slag off a potential signing at least do a bit of research first.

So why did no one sign him then if he was so good? Could have been the club wanted to much? Could have been his wages were to high? More than likely most people thought he was not that good.

Based on the Trust's model, it's no wonder that they thought five million was a big investment.

Surely Kentaro would have told them how much money they would need to run a club in the Premiership and improve it.

I find it insane that your new owners & Kentaro would not have talked about the money needed before they bought the club.

No problem guys I think he will not amount to much if Larsson signs for Rovers. Of course I hope he plays wonderfully and I am force to say I am wrong.

Same here, hope he proves me wrong. Still he is gonna be free.

Please can we sign a good centre midfielder in the next 2 weeks.

Can't remember which two clubs for sure, but I think he rejected offers from Sunderland and Aston Villa.

Larsson is definitely a good player and is far from being rubbish. If his 5 goals and 1 assist in 18 games doesn't look impressive then it's only because Birmingham have been really poor this season. I don't think he's a very influential player, so he won't change games in the way that someone like Olsson or Hoilett might, but he's the sort of player that will be a solid starter for us and chip in with quite a few assists and goals a season from open play and set pieces.

He's pretty much Pedersen, but arguably slightly better and right-sided.

I can't believe people are satisfied with signing an average player on a free in the summer.

I thought that venky's want to be a top 5 club(they are deluded),they clearly don't want to spend money and kentaro have now got their feet under the table,i expect the arrival of more mediocre sem players, hoillet is much better than larsson.would love to know if Kean was consulted.

Thanks for the info, BPF - and also the way it's delivered, even though I'm beginning to feel a bit more pessimistic about what's going on at the club. Like you said, let's hope you're wrong and they're playing a brilliant pokergame (get som beginners-tips from you perhaps? re: BRFCS FullTilt tourneys ;) )....

On Seb Larsson: Think he will prove to be just the kind of player we should be looking to sign. Solid left/right wing with (hopefully) good scandinavian work ethics. He will be an improvement on E.H. Diouf and Gamst, and it will do Olsson good to have some serious competition on the flank. We've been complaining about lacking quality replacements in more or less all positions and Olsson is still young. I dread to think what would happen to Olsson's confidence if he hit a bad spell with everyone expecting him to deliver game after game. Having some cover will be good!

Say what you will about Venkys, but can anyone remember january 2010? This IS more exciting. And even though I can barely pay my rent (Norway is expensive!) I' m thinking a trip over to support the team in february is now on the agenda.

Finally - if we manage to offload some of the deadwood...anyone know if there is a plan B for CM or is it Adam or bust? Don't expect names, but just a confirmation the club has someone in their sights....

We had a sausage sizzle at work today. I ate a beef sausage, instead of a chicken sausage today in protest. It was delicious.

Jim's been right more than he's been wrong over the years.

I've learned to respect Jim's opinions in the short time I've been on this board. Currently either 1) his reason has been undermined as the result of the fear that Venkys amateurish antics have generated and he is lashing out in an effort, feeble as it may be, to protect the club he loves; or, 2) he's dead right. I hope the correct answer is no. 1, but his motives are good so I still respect him. Option no. 2 doesn't bear contemplating as we have NO ability to correct the course.

At the moment the club is still at a level where the 'future' is the next twelve months, ie. make sure you're still in the league.!

Actually the next 5 months will settle that issue.

and go easy on chimbonda, he isnt the brightest, but is a sensitive lad, and he scored against burnley, thats all we need from him and di santo

For that reason alone, Chimbonda and Di Santo deserve some respect.

I sincerley hope the Jermaine Jones story is not true -

Jones courted controversy in 2004 for an interview for popular sports magazine Sport-BILD. When asked whether there were gay footballers in the Bundesliga, he said "hopefully not."

In March 2007, Jones announced on the official Eintracht bulletin board that he would not extend his contract expiring at the end of the 200607 season.[11] This enraged many Eintracht supporters, as Jones cancelled a contract negotiation with chairman Heribert Bruchhagen a few days before because his advisor was on a sudden journey to Brazil. In October 2006, he already had defended himself for turning down a contract offer, underlining he wanted to stay after all the management of the Eagles had done for him during his injuries.

In March 2009, the British newspaper the Guardian misquoted Jones as saying "[it doesn't] make any ###### difference [what the Schalke fans think] at the end of the day" in response to jeering by supporters.

The information you pulled is directly and word for word from Jones' wiki page, and if you had bothered to provide the next sentence the reader would have known it was blown out of proportion. The fact that you omitted the last sentence gives rise to serious questions regarding your motives. The next sentence reads:

"The actual quote in German was nowhere near as disrespectful and simply mentioned that the jeers of the fans did not bother the team; they followed rather the orders of their manager and coach: «Die Mannschaft fightet, führt 1:0 und wird trotzdem ausgepfiffen. Wir stehen zum Trainer und zum Manager. Die Pfiffe sind uns egal"

Seb Larsson, 25 years old, international player - superb crossing ability with bags of prem experience, and a dead ball specialist for FREE and people are not happy.

If we can get solid players like Larsson via our Kentaro connection, then I give kudos to the Venkys-Kentaro arrangement.

Apologies for appearing more negative than I have previously been.

. . .

Anyway, let's wait and see. If they do end up backing up their words with cash (their cash, not borrowed cash) then I'll be the first to apologise.

Very sensible. I'm with BPF. Things may be a disaster and they may not. I'm worried they are but we have to hope they aren't as we can't much about it but wait and see. In the meantime, we should enjoy being Rovers fans (the Liverpool match warmed the heart) and watching our club play in the best league in the world. Long may it last.

Nevermind seb or roque, the mirror is reporting Benzem would be willing to join villa on loan if adebayor goes to real madrid. What a class act benzema is but i'd hate to see him join villa.

How many players is that now that have been supposedly joining Villa during this transfer window....?:rolleyes:

It all started with Samba and there seems to have been a different name every second day!!!!!!!!

Good job we don't go round broadcasting all our transfer targets eh?

Seb Larrson would be a great signing for us, as a free signing. Also as long as we don't stop Olsson and Hoilett cming through and playing in the team.

He can supply the crosses for the strikers to score them. Would it not be better to sign him now and let him supply the chances for RSC to score. just a thought!
