I bet the agents fee you are paying is massive to secure Larsson, not to mention his wages. Can't see why else he would choose rovers over Sunderland and Newcastle.

Maybe he wants the chance to win stuff. Lets be honest the only cups those two have are in the canteen.

When Nicko foreshadowed a "controversial" 11 o'clocker, why do you think put it that way? Because we don't need him and he comes from the Kentaro/SEM stable!

Sure he takes a great free-kick but he does nothing Pedersen can't do. We can only take one free-kick at a time. With Diouf/Olssen/Hoilett we are OK on the flanks.

He's just an average Premier League player, no more. Meanwhile we are very poor in central mid-field. So why sign him? Has to be the client connection imo.

And OK I know its not the end of January yet-----but it soon will be!

Remember when Tony Parkes played Pedersen in centre mid, he did a very good job and I think I remember reading an article in the LT about parkes chatting with him and telling him he is better suited in centre mid and he did have a good spell there so we may have the answer right under our noses. He can pick out a good pass and has a wicked shot on him

I really cannot understand the pessimism. Do you not remember the last few years?

We didn't sign anyone of note. This is an improvement and it's not even over yet.

That is because you are reading this website selectively and are ignoring the clamour that there are big problems with the new ownership.

Have a horrible feeling that despite a bunch of penny pinching measures which are inevitably going to harm the club's relationships with the community and fans, Rovers' cost base is going to get out of control before Pune takes the trouble to learn what owning/running a football club is all about.

It is more than walking on the Ewood turf with Maradona (for example) and receiving a mixed reception of cheers drowned out by boos. And any English supporter will boo him for the hand of God irrespective of the Venky's stuff.

It's a bit hard to keep up right now. Never known it so frantic...at least, not for some time.

There will be one signing today. No prizes for guessing.

Possibly a second, which is a surprise to me but not to some others. The player involved is actually here.

Might be able to put more flesh on the bone later.

Need to find out where this activity leaves other targets...

Jermaine Jones at a guess?

80k pw on Roque? Somebody we sold for 17m a few years ago. Those are the highest wages we have ever paid.

Who do you want? Messi?

Great we're paying inflated wages to someone with an appalling injury record. Justifying it by saying we sold him for 17m a while back cuts no ice as everyone knew then that he was over-valued. He's hardly justified the price tag has he? I'd prefer to look at his track record, rather than transfer fees paid.

And then saying "Who do you want? Messi?" is just pathetic and childish.

I don't "want" anyone, but my impression from what we've been told so far is that we're looking for up-and-comer's to make the business model feasible. And that's how I would go about it, too.

Getting Larsson on a free, Roque on a half-season loan, trying to rent some Barca kid, and a farrago about Ronaldinho doesn't seem to be fitting that model.

when they first bought the club, they said they would be focussed on loan players.

then they changed their tune a little later with all the ronaldinho stuff.

perhaps the truth is nearer to the original statement.

Either way, we'll know come 1st feb...

I think the Barca kid is coming on a permanent deal.

Nicko, has the Adam-thing gone quiet? Whats the status over there now?

Charlie Adam situation is very live...but all will be explained [as much as I can] later on.

I'm not going to use adjectives about the 11 o'clocker.

A 'tad controversial' had the usual PMT brigade talking about Diego Maradona and the mopes unhappy that you had a deal in the pipeline.

So, it's just an 11 o'clocker.

My only concern is that some details will leak before then...

Jermaine Jones is a defensive midfielder, 29 years, and was captain for Eintracht Frankfurt according to wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jermaine_Jones

Sounds like the kinda player we've been looking for. Just hope he is good enough to walk straight into the team. Bit worrying that he had a serious leg injury. Any germans or someone following the Bundesliga here who can add some info on this guy?

Edit: Tim Howard on Jermaine Jones: http://usa.worldcupblog.org/world-cup-2010/tim-howard-on-jermaine-jones.html

You sound certain. Hunch or more?

As far as I know we are at the early stages of talks between clubs. Knowing Blackpool, theyll want around 5m for him, which I doubt we would pay.

It's more actually. I have no problem reciting the information I just want to double check it first, but it tentatively sounds like this SEM thing might have its advantages yet.

lol - you can`t win can you Nicko ! thanks for all the updates and nearly crashing the servers last night !

Sorry for more Questions, but if stuff is going to leak today anyway, is Adam`s likely destination Ewood or is there a preference from Charlie to go to another club ? Also, the one that is already here, do you mean at Brockhall/Ewood, or just in the country and does he play in Germany per chance - or is it a left fielder :-)

It was like trying to get a sunlounger in a German tourist resort last night...

Adam situation is moving at the Blackpool end. More on that later.

The 'new' guy here may sign at some point in the day.

Roque's medical should hopefully not present a problem either.

It's going to be a relatively busy day or so.

Signing Adam might be worth it just to hear the insane rant that Holloway would drop at their next press conference.

Had a mooch a few days back at various clubs forums and there seems to be about 10 other premiership teams who all think they are in with a shout. Its going to be very hard to jump to the top of the queue.
