2 questions on JJ:

- How much is he going to cost? (I can't see it discussed anywhere)

- Is he fit now, so will be available straight away for the squad?

1) Loan I think

2) Think so. If he hasnt played recently it is becuase he fell out of favour with the coach. Going by his reputation I would guess he probably did or said something.

From the sounds of things, Jackson likes to get stuck in and is a ball winner?

Anyone know more about him.....?

His recent disciplinary record makes me think he'll be a liability in the Prem.

He'll be lunging in left, right and centre...

I've seen Jones play in person. He is aggressive and will pick up a bunch of cards. He is also a bit of a nut job. All that said, I'm thrilled that he's coming to Rovers. He can pick out a pass, runs forever and is really good on the ball. He's much better than Grella, Andrews or any other DM that the Rovers have. Class player.

Seriously? You've seen him play regulary? Genuinly interested - not looking to start another flame-war. I'll repeat my previous question: Anyone from Germany or someone who watches Bundesliga regulary care to give us some info on Jones?

Seen him play a few times and what stood out were his athletic, raspy qualitites. We need grit in midfield, this one fits the bill--- if he can stay on the pitch. But isn't that what they said about Grella?

What I can tell you is that his father was an American Serviceman so I believe the US Football set up had danced with the notion of calling him into the USMNT (as they call it over here)

So, this Jones. Last season, with him in the side, Schalke finished 2nd. Now he's fallen out with the coach and been dropped, and they're struggling? Sounds like an influential player.

There's something I'd like someone to clear up...I know neither is the best way to judge a player, but goal seems to think his pace is around 5.5/10, whilst FM has him as 17/20 on the one I'm playing (though this may have improved slightly from the starting stat).

This is quite a discrepancy, so can anyone tell me...is he quick, medium, or slow?

We’re now looking at buying footballers not athletes who can kick a ball, and that philosophy is a recipe for success in my eyes, if they’ve got the right manager.

At last , somebody else who sees it as I do

Spot on Gav.

Funnily enough this came up in a discussion with a Wigan fan yesterday on whether they would get relegated or not ( I don't think they will )

Bit more info on Jones, including details on his injuries. Also says has only be booked 6 times here, and his red for 2 bookable offences.

6 yellows in 17 games, would expect that would be about right for a ball winning midfielder. Just what we have been lacking all season, a midfielder who actually likes to get stuck in and make a tackle.

Has it been confirmed, other than what Nocko said earlier?

Interesting question. For the defensive midfield position you need pace over relatively short distances, to get to the breakdowns in play first. You rarely need to sprint more than say 30 yards. Makelele was one of the best in that role but nobody would say he was a flier. However over 15 to 20 yards he was quick, of course the first yard or two comes from between your ears.

This guy sounds to be the right sort of player but there are questions about his attitude and fitness. We don't want to be playing with 10 men every game. If he's on loan I think he's worth a gamble.

Jermaine is miles better than anyone else we have in that position. I saw him play live 2 seasons back whilst on a stag do in Germany and he reminded me of Essien. And no thats not just because he is black.

he is a fantastic player. Best midfielder we will see if he signed since Tugay. :D :D :D

http://hubpages.com/hub/Jermain-Jones-announces-his-desire-to-change-allegiances-from-Germany-to-USA

Little bit in the arcticle explaining what he's all about...

"Jermaine Jones is a central midfielder characterized as a fast, aggressive, strong tackler, box to box, great range, able passer, and high energy. According to Kicker magazine, he was ranked the fourth best midfielder in the Bundesliga behing, Franck Ribery, Mesut Ozil, and Eduardo. Besides being underappreciated by the German National team and playing on a top Bundesliga team, he recently experienced European club competition with the Champions and UEFA League."

Sounds promising :D

I don't know if he's 'influencial'.... but he certainly speaks his mind. If you checked the dailymail link of his vacation snaps in Miami you'll see a fully tatted up dude who is NO shrinking violet.

Maybe a shrinking violent???

Seriously, if he can stay on the pitch(injuries & dodgy disciplinary record),Rovers have themselves a good'un for the CM.
