joey_big_nose
If this is true, I really think the Rovers should try to hijack this bid: http://www.goal.com/...ational-michael Michael Bradley is an excellent midfielder and, I believe, popular with the USA soccer kids. He'd sell Rovers jerseys state side. Totally agree - Bradley is exactly what we need and he knows about us because we have been interested in him for about five years..... However the Sunderland move could be for massive money as they have all the Bent cash now

Kelbo
As a doubter, I have got to say the quality of our transfer targets do seem to be much better than of previous windows, now the hard work comes, having spent the money, getting the team to gel, thats real difficult at any level of football and can take time, just hope we have enough time. budha
@SkySportsbucko: Blackburn Rovers defender Christopher Samba claims Aston Villa have made contact with his club regarding a possible transfer. Samba is unsettled at Ewood Park after expressing his disappointment at the decision of new owners Venky's to sack Sam Allardyce as manager. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11676_6669226,00.html

Gav
A number of us mentioned several pages back that the club should lace Sambas palm with silver and get him signed to a more lucrative contract. Whilst he’s not the best defender I’ve ever seen, his enthusiasm and presence would be hard to replace, so just give the guy a few quid and lets put this to bed. He's totally worth it, far easier than finding someone to replace him.

Taggart
May hve been posted elsewhere on the MB - but here is an article from India Times with an interview with Rao I believe - little snippets in there about Ronnie and Beckham http://epaper.timesofindia.com/Default/Scripting/ArticleWin.asp?From=Archive&Source=Page&Skin=TOINEW&BaseHref=TOIPU%2F2011%2F01%2F18&PageLabel=23&EntityId=Ar02300&ViewMode=HTML&GZ=T Was sometime after our best "footballing" performance for a long time in the win over Liverpool. Apologies if posted elsewhere.

47er
Does this mean he now likes the way the new owners work? I'm going to need helping out, I thought everyone wanted out now Sam had left? When does the crisis start? Gosh, haven't heard that one before.
Hi Mack
Whilst I don’t really agree with a player getting ANOTHER new contract, not long after signing the last one….at least it shows that we intend to keep our best players for a change.....and makes a mockery of the theory that we want to sell Samba. Contradicts you're post 12 hours ago some what!
Bobby G
Chimbonda seems to be going crazy training with the reserves. He doesnt seem to have an agent working for him cause I cant believe that no club wants him. He thinks we are toying with him too.
gumboots
Contradicts you're post 12 hours ago some what! I don't think anyone wantsto give him a new contract but, as bigger clubs than us have found out, sometimes you have to.
Bobby G
gumboots is right. This is the nature of the beast. Keep him with a new contract or let him go. Id take the former route even if we spend a few extra quid.
CAPT KAYOS
Agree with you there. He's totally worth it, far easier than finding someone to replace him. not always the best policy this though - Samba's gripe wasn't with money and although I agree with the idea to some extent it depends on what he claims his reasons are to go. If it was to show him that the club meant business and he is an important part of it then fair do's, but lets not just offer more money just for the sake of it - as money or no money if his grievances are not sorted we would still have an unhappy player which is not what any team needs ( a bad apple )
Bobby G
Money fixes everything thats bothering a footballer. The question always is how much.
Jimmy612
Samba's gripe wasn't with money Nor was Rooney's or Tevez' .. Agents are very persuasive people Three scenarios really. 1) His agent is good at his job and has seen an opportunity to get his client (and himself) more money in a lucrative contract. 2) Samba just wants to go and improve his career at a bigger club. 3) His version.. He doesn't like whats happening Tough one to get around really, if it's genuinely 2 or 3 then why pay him more money?
Iceman
its easy to give him more money, no problem. However, we know that loyalty hardly exist these days in football. Samba wants out, and wanted out before the Sam sacking, so why run after him, when he wants to run away from us? Is he that valuable to us? of course he is, but his head is in so many different places right now, that you have to make a decision on the spot. I like Samba, but to offer him more money, when money has never been an issue(allegedly), seems to be a stupid move if that is the case. As a club, we should move forward together, we shouldnt have individuals dictating to the club what they want. The way i look at it, Kean has handled things quite well so far, its the Samba move that will tell us alot more about his(Kean's) character and credentials as a manager. If we are to build a strong foundation, then the likes of Samba is what we need, as the experience will only be good for the likes of youngsters coming through the ranks. The signings of RSC and Jones are very important, imo to the development of Kalinic, P Jones, Olsson, Hoillet, Lowe and Nzonzi. This has been evident with the signing of Salgado, where P Jones has grown into a more mature player, to go with his talent as a footballer. By choice no I wouldn't want to, however if it means he stays the next 3-4 years then I can see why we would. Samba is our best defender at the end of the day! Daremz
Arsenal launching a bid for N'Zonzi? We def. don't want to let him go, do we? Now PJ is out, our best defensive midfielder, in my opinion. And JJ is only here on loan, so it's not a good idea to let N'Zonzi go, right?
Ferrit
Samba is decent, but our best defender? Jones has only played a handful of games and in that time he's shown to be a more competent player, at what, 18? Only my opinion obviously, but for me, Samba is a slightly above average PL centre half. I wouldn't line my shorts if he were to leave.

Jermaine Jones needs to prove his fitness, perform on the pitch and sign on a permanent before we even begin talking about letting N'Zonzi go. Player of the year last season, struggling with injuries this term - if he regains his fitness and continues to develop he will become a BIG player for us. £10m and I would sell though, but at the reported £5m I know where I would tell Mr. Burns to go. Kelbo
Enough time for what? (unless you think we are going to be in a relegation battle ) Looking at the present league table, Wolves are playing better, Villa will come and should get Darren Bent, Everton are a decent side, so really only Wigan and West Ham look the obvious relegation candidates at the moment, however West Ham are spending big and if one of their signings really came off, who knows, if they sell Parker, they are down though. We really have only showed in two games WBA and Liverpool that we are playing decent stuff and capable of winning football matches, the other games have not been too good, now, we have to gel between three and four players into the team quite quickly and be picking up points or we will then be dragged into the relegation area, if this happened, would we be able to 'Football' our way out of trouble? I really cant answer that.

In no way has jones proved himself a better defender than Samba, he looks a real prospect but hasn't played that many games at the back and he did make a few errors in those games that he was lucky to het away with. I think he will become a better player but certainly not yet IMO. Now I dont think Samba deserves another new contract as such but it wouldn't be good to lose him cheaply.
