Deowuc
Couldn't agree more Jim. Moves for the likes of Ronaldinho and Beckham are merely about publicity and not about driving the team on the pitch forward. They should take a leaf out of Jack's book and buy the best young players available to produce a successful team that will bring them all the publicity they need. Hopefully, Steve Kean is explaining that to them at the moment. The fee for Bent will no doubt show our new owners just what type of madhouse they have bought into in acquiring the Rovers. As the old joke goes - the quickest way to become a millionaire is for a billionaire to buy a Premier League club! Why do you distort the facts to support your argument? During Mr Walker’s tenure we bought numerous players who were neither young and/or the best. USRoverME
Squad depth is a nice thing to have, though... If we are going to play 4-2-3-1 as has been suggested, Olssen can play winger or back, MGP can take a wing or that central attacking MF role. EMO fits a lot of holes, def middie, winger, outside back. Nzonzi and Jones side by side in the middle. With Santa in up top, the man left out more often than not may be Kalinic... sweet
Is larsson able to play in the middle, in same way that beckham/bentley can. Not pacey players, but their technical ability makes up for it, in the form of creativity through the middle.

sweet
It would be very surprising to see us go for barton considering we have just signed jones, they are both box to box midfielders are they not?

92er
7million for Barton :/ Naahhhhhhhh All ifs and bits.... If the owners want to move Diouf on because of his attitude, it would be surprising if they wasnted to sign Barton. The same principle applies if the manager is making the decision. Oklahoma
Roberto/Nicko, Vazquez - Sporting Lisbon? I know you didn't ask me but I reported a few days ago that Sporting Lisbon wanted him, it was even in the cover of a big sports newspaper here. However, Sporting Lisbon lost again and their presidente resigned so I have no idea if there will be any transfers this month. They are short in the bank and have to sell to buy after. Djaló, Vukcevic and Postiga are the players that could leave Sporting lIsbon in the near future. 7 million for Barton? Only if Ewood turned into a boxing arena
Kelbo
N'zonzi is very good in the air don't forget and Arsenal have no height in there squad at all really. Nice and simple game that he plays would suit them, win it and give to one of the guys in front/sideways. Not a fan of this idea at all. The 3 CB's is unusual and would take some getting used to, we'd also suffer on the flanks. I'd be very happy to see us return back to 442 with lots of wing play as we have always been in the main. More importantly, or equally as important, a back three of Nelsen, Givet and Samba? no pace at all, we'd get skinned right, left and centre!! It might sound odd but one way of generating interest is to say clubs have offered money and it's testing his resolve so that someone else comes in and offers more... thenodrog
For me, it was a great piece of management by Allardyce to put Jones into CM, where he was getting first team experience, learning how to play from a new perspective on the pitch and allowed to make his mistakes (which he made a few of) without any major consequences. Couldn't agree more. Not wanting to court disaster but he could be the new Terry or even the new Nolan in a season or two. If he can do both then how much would a new Beckenbaur be worth? Good player Barton but not a great one. I wouldn't mind seeing him at BRFC but his baggage rules out any 7m valuation.
The Rover of Finland
I think Nicko hasn´t mentioned Vazquez even once. I´ve seen few articles about Rovers interest on him but latest must over a week old. Don´t know all about him but he is one of example what we should be looking at, young and talented. LeChuck
Spurs to sign Pienaar. Sod Charlie Adam, we should put our money into trying to get Niko Krancjar. He couldn't get games before, he'll have even less chance now. He's a fantastic footballer and could play anywhere across the attacking midfield positions in a 4-2-3-1. Agree 100% - just posted same suggestion in the "Other PL..."-thread. Even if Adam is hot at the moment and I would love to see him in blue and white, I fear he will be too expensive. Kranjcar is a proven and tested midfielder....think he perhaps would do better in different club than Spurs. Why not Rovers?
Ricky
I'm not happy with agreeing with LeChuck twice in a week Spot on though. Krancjaer must be available for a similar amount to they have have just spent on Pienaar. £3m and he'd be a steal!!
John
Could be rubbish but Chelsea (in the press) were being linked with Krancjar recently - price suggested was £6 million too.

Knowing 'Arry' he will want a stupid amount for him, why not a cheeky bid? would fancy the Barca lad more though, they can play football those lads, good habits, can pass and move the ball quickly, thats the way Kean seems to be going, looking for quick attacking movements and playing with lots of width. Commondore
LT Story today…. J Jones expected to be unveiled as a signing today after the deal was agreed yesterday. (Just seen – confirmed on official site now) Kishanishvilli, Brown, Chimbonda & Rigters will all leave when their contracts expire, if not before. Doran, Morris, Goulon all expected to go out on loan Diouf available and his agent touting him around… Samba, Salgado, Roberts (extra 12 mths) & Robbo (lifetime) all in talks over longer deals I thought Doran looked very promising in the short cameos he had two (?) season ago, has he been injured since? Really hopes this loan spell works out for him. Chimbonda seems to be going crazy training with the reserves. He doesnt seem to have an agent working for him cause I cant believe that no club wants him. He thinks we are toying with him too. My guess is that his reputation as a non-committed sleazebag has overshadowed his reputation as a decent full back.

The Rover of Finland
Spurs will probably be active on last day of the window. Krancjar, O´Hara and Dos Santos could be sold cut price to make way. Krancjar really doesn´t have future there anymore.
