No doubt something got lost in translation and they mean they are trying to get in someone with a long name like bilyaletdinov (Not suggesting him btw - just the longest name I could think of off hand)

So er, "long" as it's not Vennegoor of Hesselink [sp?]!

Venky's can spend the second half of the season looking for a big name if they want. Right now I think we're one signing short from this window being a decent one. So far its hit satisfactory.

Roque: Cant complain. Better then we've got by a distance. Seems to have a healthy attitude and if he stays fit then its a decent signing

Jones: Sounds like what we need. A bit of steel in midfield.

If Larsson plus one of the Barca kids arrives then that constitutes a very decent window regardless of what what anyone says. I dont care how much is spent as long as decent players arrive.

Im sure some will run around shouting that £5m wasnt spent in the window and therefore Venky's have failed, but who cares? If Larsson, Roque, Jones plus a couple of Barcelona youngsters joins then that substantially improves the squad. I dont think anyone could have expected any better players to have come. Adam is a shame though.

I would agree with that. we have improve the squad and I agree with bring RSC and JJ in on loan to see how they play and how they fit in the team and current players. Most important see how many games they play? then if they play alot, fit in the team and play well then we can sign them permanent! :D

Would be happy if we sign Larrson before the window shut or sign him in the summer. :)

So far so happy with our transfer dealings in this window :)

New signing Apu Nahasapeemapetilon. Big name, first Indian player in the Prem. Two birds, one stone.

Knowing 'Arry' he will want a stupid amount for him, why not a cheeky bid? would fancy the Barca lad more though, they can play football those lads, good habits, can pass and move the ball quickly, thats the way Kean seems to be going, looking for quick attacking movements and playing with lots of width.

Fully agree with that Kelbo. I think V V would be a far better buy (and investment too) for Rovers. He simply oozes quality and with the right guidance and a bit of experience will make a top class attacking mid fielder or second striker.

I really rated O'Hara, he was great when he was on loan at Portsmouth. Having said that would I buy a player who's had a long term disc injury ? NO way, he's got a friend for life there. That's speaking from very personal experience. I'd start off great, stiffen up in the second half. In the dressing room I could barely put my socks on, next day could barely get out of bed. Over the course of the week it'd wear off thanks to plenty of traction and I'd be ready for the next match. Repeat as and when required. Anybody remember Alan Gilliver ? O'Hara- sorry but no thanks.

Yes I do. Isn't he the C/F we signed from Huddersfield and sent him back within a couple of weeks or so; or is my memory playing tricks on me again?

Gilliver is the centre forward we signed just after being relegated in 1966.

He very rarely played for us because of an injury he had suffered at Huddersfield. His case led to the importance of medicals before transfers go through.

As a result we got compensation......in the from of Coddington.

Anyone remember that penalty miss when he ran from almost the half way line to take it! Think it was against Palace.

Apologies if I've missed it but has there been any feedback or speculation on how Keane's Indian trip went as regards this transfer window ?

Has something happened to kill that one off then?

NO flipping way.if Samba wants to leave then fine 15 mil cash upfront, that will scare them all off but Kean better not sell the zonz,he was superb last season and has so much potential.

Glad we signed Jones looks a good combative player, hope he is match fit for WBA game, for me signing VV would make this transfer window the best in a long time.

One of the 'great' misses of all times, ouch.

Hope our new signings do better!

Can anyone summarise what's been going on?, have been away for a day or two and haven't got all night to trawl through previous pages.

You want to keep tabs on the thread pinned at the top of the messageboard, think it's called Transfer Digest. Wen Y Hu posts very good updates on the discussions here.

Anybody heard anything about this guy from Newell's old boys? Mauro Formica. Reports from Argentina we have got him. No idea of the validity of said reports. Described as a talented playmaker

Nothing as yet, but just checked twitter. Andy Cryer said he is was going to try and interview him today if he was around. Guess we might hear something from him tomorrow. Expecting the announcement he has signed a long term contract, and hopefully funds for that creative midfielder we desperately need.

With regards to the'Big Name signing'..

As time passes and we start to become accustomed to the quirks and foibles of the new owners, I think it’s fairly clear that the only one who has been consistent and honest from the start is Mrs Desai.

The press and media are also learning that although they can get a few good stories and sound bites from the brothers, if they want the truth they must eventually make their way to the top.
