Seggie Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Don't trust 'SPORTSMAIL REPORTER'. Exciting to see some young talent being linked, but I won't get carried away until it's officially announced by Rovers. As much as I agree with, this Formica guy looks pretty damn good. Whether he can translate that form into the Premier League is another matter.

rovgers Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Just had a look on wikipedia, didn't realise there's been so many Argentians play in the premiership. Tim Southampton Rover Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 He reminds me of that Pompey player D'Alessandro who was quite small, lightweight but was technically great and had bundles of creativity.
deftangel Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Doesn't make a great deal of difference, but isn't Angel Colombian? Yes he is but I was meaning South American footballers in general would take time to adjust to the Premiership. He was just a recent example I could think of that was widely panned in his first year but was wildly more effective subsequently. If we could have given Carlos Villenueva a good year under a proper manager he might have turned out alright (probably not but hey).
Backroom Tom Posted January 19, 2011 Backroom Posted January 19, 2011 He looks a bit special in that video but I won't get excited as he most likely won't be coming it just seems a bit out of the blue. I must say though if true our scouting range seems to have improved recently and it's nice to see some imagination with targets finally.
67splitscreen Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Anyone care to pick a formation if we sign Larsson and Formica with what we have now.
steo Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 He reminds me of that Pompey player D'Alessandro who was quite small, lightweight but was technically great and had bundles of creativity. He was recently named south american footballer of the year.
steo Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Robbo Salgado Samba Nelsen Givet Hoillet Jones Dunn/Peds Olsson Formica Santa Cruz/Kalinic I'd hate to see Hoillet dropped if we signed Larsson in january.
67splitscreen Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 -------------------Robbo Salgado--Samba--Nelsen---Olsson ------------------J Jones Larsson---------MGP-----------Hoilett -------------Formica --------------------RSC Speedy RB and were almost there.
BuckyRover Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 I don't think it's a case of necessarily dropping Hoilett more so that he has to fight Larsson for his place in the team. Healthy competition
HemelRover Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 -------------------Robbo Salgado--Samba--Givet---Olsson ---------P Jones--J Jones Larsson-----------------------Hoilett -------------Formica --------------------RSC For me
BuckyRover Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Whichever way you setup the team, it's going to be better than our team on Sept 1st. That has to be positive for the future.
Jeru tha Damaja Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 -------------------Robbo Salgado--Samba--Nelsen---Olsson ------------------J Jones Larsson---------MGP-----------Hoilett -------------Formica --------------------RSC Speedy RB and were almost there. Givet makes his fair share of mistakes at full-back, but to have Olsson there with Hoilett ahead of him would cause me physical pain. Watching Olsson mark the overlapping run by the invisible man as the Sunderland player crossed for Bent to score their second a few weeks ago was mind-boggling. The complete lack of defensive instinct was shocking, I'd much rather see him in the midfield.
the swede Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 This looks really good. -----------Robinson -----Samba--Nelsen--Givet -----------N'Zonzi Larsson-----------------Olsson ----------J.Jones -------------------Gamst ------Formica -------------Santa Cruz

They'd be that knackered chasing Olsson and Hoilett up and down the only overlapping they'd be doing is with the sub. It was a a bit tongue in cheek anyway, just putting the speed merchants in one side for a change give me a bit of a buzz.

Jeez, how many incremental positional stages can an attack have?
Blueboy Downunder Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Robbo Salgado Nelly Samba Givet Jones pederson Hoilett Olsson Formica Roque Providing we get this geezer from newell's, and that is what he can do....then this is the formation i would go with. 4-2-3-1

tony gale's mic Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 I've been trying to slot Carlos Villenueva into our lineups. Not the real Carlos Villenueva who struggled in the Premier League, but that amazing footballer off those youtube videos.
Wilko Rover Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Deffinately think we should have -----------Robbo Salgado-Samba-Nelsen-Olsson -------Jones-Jones--------- Diouf-----Formica---Diouf-- ----------Cruz------------- Purely so our team looks slightly symmetrical and would slightly amuse me... What other players with the same names can we bring in to be even more symmetrical and amuse me more... hmmm... After that teams played once, do what you like!

hi-jaq Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Tevez? Tevez is pants!!! Ha, only joking, I completely forgot about him, how that happened I'll never know???!!! Tevez aside though, there aren't many, and I did say forward players... I think there are a few Argentinian defenders & defensive midfielders in world football who are quite strong & robust. Did someone mention Juan Pablo Angel before, he was Columbian, but still... I reckon he counts, he tried to be very good, but he was a bit bobbins really!!!

Jeez, how many incremental positional stages can an attack have? haha..when you put it in numbers like that it looks a bit strange That was my attack-formation. Just a slightly modified 4-4-2 5-3-1-1 when defending, with Larson and Olsson as fullbacks.
