If he knows Arsenal are in for him, and it's true, it could get nasty.

:glare:I`m pretty sure that Nicko said that our askign price was 15million for Samba - to be honest, I really hope he stays, but if he is going somewhere I would feel better about it, if he went to one of teh big clubs and got the chance to play European football on the big stage - but they would need to put together a good financial package for him, or get Arshavin in return

Blackburn lead chase on Mauro Formica

Previously called up Maradona to the senior side but had to pull out due to injury...so cant be a bad one.

Hughesy, it was only by a technicality that me and you didn't get called up by Maradona, I beleiev he used something like 80 players during 9 month period at one point so that should be used as a barometer.

Saying that, the interest around him from some very good clubs is encouraging and I will remain optimistic about his potential just like I did with Villanueva!

I liked Villanueva, he just didnt suit BFS style of play but I reckon if he was here now he would fit in nicely with how Keano has got us playing

- Roque

- JJ

- Larsson (IF)

- Formica (IF)

- Vasquez and Rochina (IF)

That would be an amazing window!

Two injury prone players, one Joe Average, and two young unknowns, far from amazing, but hey, all for under £5m suppose we cant ask for anymore.

Micheal Bradley or Joey Barton for the centre midfield and then we might be making some positive strides.

6m for Samba, and Arsenal want 15m for Bendtner. Something doesn't add up!

Wenger is a tightarse, he would'nt pay anything for Chamakh, he made it well known to the striker that he wanted him but would'nt pay bordeux a penny, Chamakh sat the remainder of his contract out and signed on free.

Good business for Wenger and Arsenal and not unlike what we seem to be doing to Larsson, more and more deals now are involving end of contracts rather than transfer fees.

I listened to John Cross (the guy who wrote the Samba to Arsenal article in the Mirror) on Talksport this morning and he didn't sound convincing to me.

It almost sounded like he was giving his opinion that Wenger should go for Samba because he doesn't think Bolton will sell Cahill.

I don't know, I could be wrong but it just sounded like it was an educated guess more than concrete evidence that Wenger was in for Samba.

The number that sticks in my head is 108 players throughout WC qualifying. Once we heard that myself and some mates tried to name 100 full England internationals since Euro 2000 and couldn't, even using Wikipedia. I don't think we've had that many players pull on the shirt in a decade!

Another day and more speculation just for a change.

Know nothing about this guy Formica but history would point to him being a huge risk following the likes of Grabbi. Viillaneuva, Di Santo and a legion of other foreign players in the PL. As for all the intricate formations suggested, as Alex Ferguson would say...bleedin hell.

I'd be far more pragmatic, chuck another £3m at it and go for Charlie boy - it's a no brainer.

PL points are earned on the pitch and not on You Tube or Football Manager.

As for £6m for Samba, enough already said.

I think it's more Wenger debating whether to actually spend some money or just upset other teams players, Bolton have already lined up Wheater from Boro should they lose Cahill so I dont think Bolton are dragging their feet.

I do think you have a point with the press too, they seem to suggest who he should sign which makes people think it's actually true, they spent all summer papping on about keepers and I dont remember him signing one.

JAL - You're complaining about the players we are linked with, but then suggest Barton. Because there wouldnt be any potential issues there would there....

I'm not complaining just not getting too excited like Alexanders is. Young lads fight all the time, so I dont see why people should be upset with Joey Barton and his past actions, think he'd be ideal in Blackburn.

But Micheal Bradley would be more than ideal for Rovers.

Guessing the argentine move will negate us going for Adam.. fair play if the figures started too get silly for Adam.

Still interested on the odd combination of comments.. Roa talking of a world class signing, surely that must be a dif deal too Formica as he isnt there yet, Nicko talking of a younger argy lad..

So we might of got ourselves some steal in midfield, a few kids (still in negotiations), a striker with a good rep here.. and shortlisted for a few creative midfielders.. blimey we are targeting pretty much everything we need.

would still like to see a left back and a right back... both as cover and competition for Salgado and Givet

At the present time all we have is 2 loan signings, so "another" £3m is incorrect.

As things stand, Venky's have yet to raid their supposed £5m war chest.

JJ isnt injury prone but did have one major injury (that kept him out for a season) that he has returned from so worth a loan too check him out.. RSC when fit is far better than what we have.. larsson (Must be the first AVERAGE international player too win player of the season for an EPL club) is a bargain at the price mentioned and who can complain about us signing too promising youngsters who are hardly unknown.

Bradley not sure about think he is over rated and Barton is a fool of the supreme order would not be suprised if he ended up in jail within the year.

Landon Donavan might be a good call though if we are talking american players, had a very good run at everton and would benefit the side.

Fair enough, the comments just felt a bit glass half empty... Rovers arent just going to explode onto the scene in a similar style to City though so carefully thought through purchases (low risk loan deals for players who need an opportunity to get back to the level they can play at), proven Premier League quality such as Larsson and highly rated youngsters has to be considered a good transfer window for Rovers at this stage.

You are right, young lads do, however Barton's City career ran from the age of 20 to 25, and it wasnt all in the early stages that there was trouble. Even at Newcastle there have been various incidents. His ability isnt in doubt for me, but he brings a lot of bad press with him and is there honestly not better out there with less baggage?

I'm not going to argue about Bradley however, he is a player I'd like to see at Rovers.

JAL my friend.

IF Sam was splitting us (the fans) imagine what Joey Scum would do.

A lot of people have already said they would stop going to Ewood if he put on the famous blue and whites.

I am all for a player who fights and gives his all on the pitch (involving some nasty tackles and a red card now and then), but a criminal thug is something else and he really doesnt seem to change (ie the punch on Gamst). I would not be able to cheer for this guy if he scored for us knowing he earns a lot of dosh and is disgusting.

Many foreign players how well adapted to the PL without being very prolific before entering the league.

We are doing (if it happens) exactly the thing I want us to do. Spend wisely on youngsters who may come good - blending it with needed experience instead of spending huge amounts on a lot of superstarts and trying to blend them together into a team.

I can accept that as it's your choice but why do you feel the need to tell everybody about it? Does metaphorically stamping your feet on an internet forum give you some feeling of satisfaction?

Why not just do it and say nowt?
