[Archived] Transfer Window Part 4

Recommended Posts

Nicko, you said you heard the Argentinian in talks were younger than Formica. Do you have a name or age, or will that perhaps jeopardise the deal? Formica looks to be something we have been lacking so wouldn't be disappointed if it turns out that he indeed is flying over for talks as we type.

At the present time all we have is 2 loan signings, so "another" £3m is incorrect.

As things stand, Venky's have yet to raid their supposed £5m war chest.

I don't think Mercerman was suggesting that we have spent money on transfer fees so far this window.

I suspect he meant that we should increase whatever offer we have made/may be considering making for Adam by another £3m.

I heard a 'young Argentinian' might be coming about a fortnight ago. I thought this meant a teenager.

It could be Formica. At 22, he is still 'young.'

There are so many people throwing players at the club right now - from many different angles - that it is possible.

It's still early morning in Argentina. So there should be more news later.

My main concern is that this player was linked with Rovers about a year ago. Nothing happened.

He has been linked with Genoa, Galatasaray, Bordeaux and West Ham in recent times. Nothing happened.

Might have been linked a year ago, but Rovers had no transfer kitty a year ago. which maybe why nothing happened.

Nicko, surely it would be strange if so many reports are coming out of there, that an agreement is in place, and then nothing happens. Has this been the case with the other bidders as well, where agreements were in place, only for his club to change their minds?

Seems like they chasing the best deal(which is fair enough), but says that if another club makes an offer higher than ours, that they will change their minds again despite the agreement?

He has a minimum fee release clause.

I'm excited by the potential transfer of this guy Formica. He could bring the creativity and spark that we have been lacking for so long. I always thought that Villaneuva could have been a good player for us, but the circumstances we were in just didn't allow for him to play that often. And you can be sure of one thing, if he was on his way to Galatasaray he must be skillful! Those Turkish teams love their tricky South Americans. I'd be pleased if we signed Larsson too. I think that he is a solid Premier League player, who scores from midfield and can deliver a good set piece. Despite all the star names that we were linked to, I was more concerned about bringing in proven players that would improve our squad, particularly in midfield and make us stronger. I think that signing Larsson would do that.

As for selling Samba for £6 million, eh no thanks. I think that he will end up leaving at some point as the guy doesn't seem to be happy and is looking for a way out. We should definitely hold onto him until the summer. At least then we would have Phil Jones back and the money that we sell him for could be used to strengthen the team, especially in defence. A left back, right back and possibly centre back will all be needed.

What did Jase say?

said he would be delighted, to be finally playing with somebody who could provide him with good quality ball. He said its the only reason why he missed so many chances, was because he didnt have a creative midfielder playing for us. ;)

I liked Villanueva, he just didnt suit BFS style of play but I reckon if he was here now he would fit in nicely with how Keano has got us playing

Hear, hear. I guess it often happens when a new manager comes into a club that some of the previous manager's recruits don't "fit". C'est la vie, I guess.

I must say, though, that I felt particularly sorry for him in the F.A. Cup game at Blyth when, as he was lining up the freekick which gave us our winner, Roberts was being warmed up as his substitution.

A few swedish news sites are reporting that Larsson cancelled a scheduled sponsorship trip to Sweden late last nite. He was due to be there today but his agent has said that they cancelled it so Seb can stay abreast off all transfer situations.

I think that falls in well with what Nicko reported last nite about a bid being made.

Think I can answer this one, being a Swede myself. I do rate him, but I'd sooner call him "useful" than "great". He has a wicked right foot and works hard up and down the flank, but lacks the pace to be a really effective traditional winger. I'm actually surprised he hasn't moved into a central midfield or fullback position (he's been tried there in the national team, with promising results) yet, I think that would fit his qualities much better.

This makes him sound like a direct replacement for Emerton [at the end of the season, maybe?].

Unless Ashley Young is moving, i cant see him going there to sit on the bench. If he wants to play regular football, then Rovers would be the ideal place.

Rumours at Old Trafford that Ferguson is lining up a bid for Young.

I can accept that as it's your choice but why do you feel the need to tell everybody about it? Does metaphorically stamping your feet on an internet forum give you some feeling of satisfaction?

Why not just do it and say nowt?

The way he's going there'll only be him and Cruz left to talk to each other. And since they say the same thing over and over...........

these i would go for, all free in the summer

Victor Vazquez

Thiago Alcantara

Nolito

Javi Lopez

The first 2 have the potential of becoming world-beaters. Especially the latter one Thiago Alcantara.

Nolito and Javi Lopez i dont know much about, but I would add the names of Adrian Lopez, Philippe Mexes, Hamit Altintop, Trochowski and Ivan Raktic to names we should take a closer look at.

I rem Big John Macnamee gaining almost hero status for sparking out Ted MacDougal (once he'd checked that the ref was looking the other way) who after a ball had been hoofed clear had gone over to remonstrate with him right in front of the Blackburn End. I think MacDougall just about managed to scream two words in his ear before he got levelled with a haymaker.

Bournemouth came to us 2 consecutive Easter times, doing really well, with MacDougal as their inspiration.

Both matches MacDougal was extremely quiet after MacNamee had had a word with him.

Whereas your posts are riveting:

"please don't say that"

"please give it a rest"

"la la la don't say those thIngs"

"why are you saying that"

"don't be mean"

Etc etc.

You know you have fallen to the bottom of the message board food chain when theno is backing up your arguments

Blackburn are believed to be closing in on the signing of Newell's Old Boys ace Mauro Formica, skysports.com understands.

Nothing new in the story, but..

Formica, who has an Italian passport and would not require a work permit to play in England, is believed to have been offered a three-and-half-year deal - although he could yet arrive on an initial loan deal.

.. if that's the case, Mrs. Desai wasn't kidding about leasing players, wasn't she.
