Worth remembering that £5m for the January window is the only number the new owners have ever given.

This isn't true though is it Philip?

Once again, you're only remembering the segments from your Google marathons that suit your agenda.

A lot of this is give a dog a bad name. Arteta's a nasty piece of work in general but last season he nearly poked Pederson's eye out yet hardly anything was made of that. Thing is Arteta is a planner whilst with Barton it appears more of an inbred instantaineous reaction to situations. Growing up in inner city Livvie won't have helped.

Are you mad.. comparing one incident on the pitch too Bartons endless list of issues.. ranging from public brawls too attacking team mates in training.. Arteta is a planner yet his one big incident was in front of 10s of thousands in the stadium and recorded on TV for the viewing of millions, Bartons incidents have mostly been occurred out of the public eye.. i.e. the privacy of the training pitch or on the streets. So which one is the true sly little fool?

And its not a case of give a dog a bad name.. any dog that attacks people half as many times as Barton has would of been put down.

Sam polarized opinion but never seen the level of comments like those of late (Bucky, jal etc etc.. ), despite us having a much more successful window.

1 Page ago S15 was asked to cut it out. Now he as you say is having another pop.

Last warning.

How on earth am I having a pop? Read mine and Philips messages and tell me at what point I crossed the line. This is getting ridiculous, it's a discussion board. With regards to your last warning, I was sticking up for another poster. Again show me at which point I crossed the line.

"'As and when required, we will invest, in a responsible way, but let me be clear: money will not be a problem. I am not going to promise specific figures but if we need to spend £5m on something, we'll spend it. If we need £10m, £15m, £20m, we'll do it. We won't compromise on quality. We are prepared to spend a lot over time.'"

Dated 15th January 2011.

Steve Kean has also said it is 5 million MINIMUM. Are you suggesting he is lying, and if so, why?

Nicko has stated there is more than what you suggest, is he wrong also?

Every board member could post that link once a day for the next 2 weeks and it wouldnt make any difference. Philipl would take no notice. Pointless to try.

I really don't care how much we have to spend.

If we can sign Formica and Rochina/Vazquez or both, to go with Jones and RSC, you wont hear much complaints.

Venkys will have delivered the best transfer window in years.

The way Kean has set up the team and with these new signings top half finish would be well achievable.

I'm VERY excited about Formica

whats happened to the scroing thingy when you agree or disagree with someones comments?

Been removed. Don't know if it was because some people got silly with it? Pity cos I used to like seeing if anyone agreed with me and it was easier than having to read every post when you just wanted a quick glance.

This is bad news-

I'd value Samba realistically at £10m-£12m but the fact that he said he wanted to leave for bigger club few weeks ago devalues him #rovers

Mirror pricing Samba at £6m ... sounds a bit low to me #rovers

Mirror's @johncrossmirror - very well connected at #Arsenal - says Arsene Wenger has made Chris Samba his top transfer target #rovers

Those tweets are basically Paul Plunkett reading the Daily Mirror. No additional information, it's not even news.

If a top four club came in for Samba, I think we'd have to accept he would be interested. Indeed, does this not tie in with "your understanding" of his situation from last year? Basically, nothing has changed.

At the same time, there is chat about giving Samba a new deal for more money. Wenger is still as stubborn as ever with regard to transfers and will still have a tendency to give less weight to Samba's physical/defensive attributes than he would to his ball playing skills. (Even though this is arguably exactly what Arsenal need).

Unless Mr Wenger is starting to realise the short-sightedness of his approach to transfers, I don't expect him to bid. If he does, we're under no pressure to flog him for £6m unless Samba has some kind of release clause.

I'd like to read some genuine news in here about transfers for once. All I see is people having a pop at each other and some posters putting up things that can only be interpreted as supporting an agenda especially when they post tweets from someone who has been derided in the past for the actual ARTICLES he's written. Said poster has also very selectively decided which things to 'hear' and which things to 'not hear' when it comes down to the budget for this transfer window. Who honestly ACTUALLY knows apart from the Venkys and maybe Kean? Postings such as these should be picked up on and discussed but not ad infinitum or ad nauseum as it is now.

What is the situation with these youngsters? Rochina, Vasquez and the Argentinian one. Signings? Loans? Rumours only?

Okay - let's see them walk the walk.

IMO. the sale of a substantial asset, previously thought to be Jones and now possibly Samba, will be the only key that unlocks the door.

I hope I'm wrong, however, it's more important for the future of our club that any transfer activity does not jeopardize our club as a going concern.

Asked the same guy about Formica as I did with Rochina,

He's bloody lovely! Moves and is built like a feather mind, which maybe a problem. He'll have the fans foaming at their mouths.

Your classic No 10, very much in the Aimar mould. Exciting times ahead should he sign, it better go through!

Never mind foaming at the mouth!!!! I'll foam in my pants he he's that good!!!! haha

In previous windows, the budget has often been talked about in terms of fees AND wages.

I'm sure that was the case at the time when we got Givet...why are we expecting or judging any different this window? Where did the owners specifically say, "we will spend £5m on fees"? The only consistent comment I've seen on the matter is them declining to put a cap on it.

The two signings we've made so far are reported to be on a hefty whack per week. They are clear upgrades on what we had and will in all likelyhood be first team starters for the rest of this season. That represents a significant investment in the squad. Simples.

Difference is Rochina plays in Spain and Formica in Argentina. Does he really follow the Argentinian league that closely? I know Formica is highly rated, just trying not to get too carried away here...

Have to agree, it's becoming fairly tiresome now.

From what I can gather Formica is a rumour coming out of Argentina, and the English media have picked up on it. Nicko reckons he heard we were looking at a young Argentinian a few weeks ago. Fits in with what the Rao's said about brining in young South Americans. Looks to be a perm deal if it goes through for about £3m.

The 2 Barce kids, not sure what the hold up is, Rochina appeared to be definitely signing, VV not sure, although his contract is up at the end of the season.

Larsson, a bid of £500k has been made, awaiting Birmingham to accept/reject.

Samba, Arsenal said to be making a £6m bid, Blacburn will surely ask for at least double that.

The £5m budget is for wages and fees so it is about 70% spent already.

...unless Kean has returned with Mrs D's purse.

Maybe it isn't for both. Maybe it is. Maybe it's not important and we'll just see what happens ;)

Or the most likely is that Venky's and Rovers have no idea because things change with the wind and every PR stunt.

There was an 'invitation only' game against Huddersfield at Brockhall today.

Roberts, Benjani and Diouf played for 45 minutes.

I hear Jones also played for 45 minutes - trying to get that confirmed.

The chap is described as 'big' by my mole.
