So I 'd take this as applying to Joey Barton aswell.

No. Barton is a completely different kettle of fish. His problems are not lack of football, a stale career, being young and untried. His problems are his behaviour on and off the field, which has been criminal and detrimental to some of the teams he has played for. He's old enough now to be wiser if he were capable of it, but the fact is, I don't think he's changed enough for it to be a risk worth taking.

So what about those supporters on the front page of the Telegraph yesterday. People are going a little bit overboard in their miss perception of Joey Barton.

Miss perception. So stubbing out a cigar in a team mates eye drunk at an Xmas party is ok? Those on the LT are not even fans who go to the match they simply came over from Burnley looking for a fight!!! read the full article before you comment eh!!!

And also, those supporters do not play football so you cant even have that as an argument, your talking utter rubbish and if there was the score thing on here still you would be minus gazillion now and mine would have shot up for putting you in your place!!

I heard a 'young Argentinian' might be coming about a fortnight ago. I thought this meant a teenager.

It could be Formica. At 22, he is still 'young.'

There are so many people throwing players at the club right now - from many different angles - that it is possible.

It's still early morning in Argentina. So there should be more news later.

My main concern is that this player was linked with Rovers about a year ago. Nothing happened.

He has been linked with Genoa, Galatasaray, Bordeaux and West Ham in recent times. Nothing happened.

Could it be a case of too many agents involved and they can't agree on how to slice up the pie?

JAL, there is no doubt that Joey Barton would bring a lot to the team. I would love the player in our midfield, baggage and all.

However, there is no doubt there is an element of disgrace to his history, and I understand if some people wouldn't want that associated with their club.

Your seeming inability to relate to that is not only frustrating, but brings your ability to analyse a situation fully and rationally into question. This makes it hard to respect/ take seriously a lot of what you write.

Everyone makes mistakes S15, but I look at the current Rovers players and see what we are missing with what we need and Joey Barton definitely fits the bill for Rovers.

Everyone seems to think its OK getting some fancy dan player who looks good in possesion but alot of Rovers hard work will be done off the ball, trying to get the dammed thing, and thats why Barton for me would be more than a welcome addition and no risk at all.

If Rovers couldnt manage a Joey Barton type character, then that would say a lot to me about their own overall ability and credibility to managing the club.

Have we not just got a barton type player as you keep calling them in jermaine Jones? he is a box 2 box player with great passing abilities!!!! Im sure you fancy barton and just wanna get close to him for his autograph and say "oh I touched him"

I believe his past exploits are proof that the "thug" moniker are well founded.

I'm coming purely from a football point of view and NOT some personality crusade.

This is based on offering solutions to Rovers winning MORE premiership games than they currently do than a personality crusade.

I really think you'd be very surprised if you ever met Joey Barton in person I really do.

Tim Vickery (journalist) just been on talksport talking about Mauro Formica.

He said that Formica reminds him of a young Kaka and he is a very promising player. He is suspicious of all the talk of him joining us because it could be his agent putting it out there to push a move through.

That's like saying that sex is great fun so AIDS is no risk at all.

I can see Gamst and Barton going out for quiet walks together, all would be lovely.

The man is a hatchet man pure and simple - a yob of the highest order. There is risk and then there is Risk. Trusting Barton is similar to Russian Roulette with one empty chamber.

G.I.Jones is a loanee with the possibility that come summer he wont be here, plus, he hasnt performed here before, so will be be capable, we shall see.

Barton would be settled, longer term and able to impact with immediate effect. It's a no brainer IMO.
