[Archived] Transfer Window Part 4

Recommended Posts

Definitely not - still sunk at Silverdale.

It's all jam tomorrow, we want some jam today.

Don't know where you are coming from - so unpredictable, one minute doom and gloom, next minute, Venkys are best thing since sliced bread.

Put up or shut up. Your like my first teenage girl friend. One big tease.

The difference between BPF and you Miseryman is that he seems prepared to be flexible and isn't weighed down by an agenda. You,on the other hand, are boring and predictable in your ceaseless negativity.

Predictable response from you Miseryman.

If you're underwhelmed by this transfer window so far what the feck were your thoughts on the last one when after much fanfare and drum-rolls we landed....Benjani.

Boring...

Why are you so personal ?

I rarely see you commenting on BRFC.

Suggest that you get a life and travel outside Oxford and SUPPORT the team you purport to.

JRR is a genius - very similar brain to Tugay, can see the gaem differently in terms of passing - not bothered about age, as he is that good he makes all the time for himself in the world with his touch, - can completely change and run a game !

If we get him in, well done Rovers !

Just want to say, he has been offered to Rovers by his agent Barry Mcintosh. Rovers haven't made a move, or enquired about him. Obviousy he is aware Venkys want a Marquee player who is big in South America. Will be interesting to see how this one develops.

Must admit when Bucky guessed it might be Riquelme earlier, I wasn't to keen, not questioning his ability, he is class, just the obvious doubts if his heart is still in it etc.

That said I would love to see him in a Rovers shirt

I think it's still a long way off from happening. Will Venkys go for it? Will Kean? Does Kean still want Adam? Questions Questions

As with Santa Cruz and Jones, the jury is out on Riquelme. They are all recovering from injury and may take some time to get properly match fit. Only then will we know if they're up for it.

It's also a bit strange that he recently signed a big money contract at his "beloved" Boca Juniors....so why does he suddenly want to move to Rovers? And why are Boca happy to offer him about?

Surely we won't be signing Riquelme and Formica though?

Anyway, fingers crossed that they're all awesome. It sure as hell beats buying Keith from Milton Keynes Dons in terms of excitement!

You are negative in every single post until you get pulled up on it and you start saying that you go to all the games.

Just because you say something doesn't make it true.

You AREN'T a Rovers fan, just an individual with WAY too much time on your hands.

Great news! Let's hope Jermaine Jones is the new Savage and Riquelme the new Tugay. Get Formica and one of the Barca-youngsters in and all of sudden we have viable alternatives in midfield. Can you believe it? I know it's not done and dusted yet, but whoooa....exciting times to be a Rover! Probably get the trolls out of their caves but I'm also happy Kean has signed a contract. With reports from Nelsen and Gamst on good mood within the squad (for KEY players) I'm almost lost for words....

UP THE ROVERS! :rover:

I just can't get excited about this deal if it happens, the guy is almost 33 years old and has been plagued with injuries in recent years.

Before anyone labels me as a Riquelme hater that couldn't be further from the truth. I've been a huge fan of his over the years; he was an absolutely fantastic player and one of the finest playmakers of his generation.

I dont think its a good move, I would have much rather had the young Argentinian with plenty too prove rather than an old hat looking for a final pay day.

As good as he his you have to ask reasons as too why he has never been brought to the prem before, The Prem is one of the hardest leagues in the world and the last thing we need is someone looking to retire on a big payday in the fiercest league in the world.

I think Venky's have done pretty well in this window but this too me is just bling as was Ronnie as would be Beckham, it's great they want to spend money but this is just wasting money in my opinion, for the money we would be paying him we could sign 3 players who could compete.

Dont mean to be negative guys, only realistic.

The Tugay replacement we never got is arriving then I see!!!

Undoubtedly, he will either play in the hole behind Santa Cruz, or he will play the deeper role like he used to for Argentina... Either way, we have not had anyone as technically gifted at Rovers for a long long time.

He's never going to motor about the pitch like he used to, but I'll bet a pound to a penny there aren't many players in the Prem with his range of passing.

I'm interested to see what deal we get him on, and if he settles into the life here & the pace of the Prem.

It will no doubt be good for the Spanish lads that might be coming in, and also Formica (if he turns up).

If we get Riquelme, Vazquez, Rochina & Formica... how much flair will we have on the pitch??? It'll be mental!!!

well said dan it whouldnt matter which top players we get here theres still people on here moaning have some bloody faith all this news is great for us gilstarwood

Transfer window - at the moment we have two definites, RSC & JJ. Agree, if both fit and, more importantly, can stay fit, will add value.

As for the rest, speculation - may or may not happen. I'm not sure how many of these are of Steve Kean's chosing.

Bringing in foreign players is a huge, huge gamble. Tugay was already used to the British game from his experiences with Rangers and spoke decent English.

As Big Sam said, takes at least 6 months to 'bed-in' a foreign player as even Chelsea have found with some of their illustrious imports!!!

I think this is key. He has the ability to dictate play. Rarely have Rovers dictated play to anyone at Premier League level in a long time. We have become a side which reacts to play and tries to capitalise on it. JRR can hold the ball and relieve pressure when we're under the cosh and he can open up defences when we are on the front foot.

Simply having a midfielder who demands the ball will be a god send. It rubs off on other players when they see someone who can play a bit.

Although Ive gotta admit Im kind of excited by this window and the prospect of someone like Riquelme in Blue and White.

But

Seeing is believeing!

The Formica deal sounds unusual, I would have thought signing him was a long term plan rather than loaning him for 6 months and then he goes and plays in an inferior league, seems senseless from all angles except Red Stars.

Finally you can't change an entire team every 6-12 months which looks to be Venkys loan plans, a good team needs time to gel this stratagy doesn't allow for that as does signing many players mid season. Theres nothing wrong with signing players on loan or signing players for that matter but there has to be balance that allows for time to change. If we sign too many players we risk having a team of individuals rather than a team fighting for the same cause on the same wavelengh, even one of the Rao's said that was important.
