Paul Merson predicts us to win, but is still tagging us with the long ball, long throw, set piece specialists of the Allardyce era. Further proof of him knowing jack s**t, and an indication he hasn't watched any of our recent games, and has no idea of the football philosophy of kean and jensen.

However he is deemed suitable by sky to comment on our match.

Looking at this evidence the majority of Robinson's, Bunn's and some of Pedersen's passes (successful and unsuccessful) have been long in the games Steve Kean's been in charge, so I can fully understand why Paul Merson is still tagging us with the long ball, long throw etc.

Surely most keepers passes are long balls, can't think of any team that takes all goalkicks etc short.

ROBINSON

SALGADO - SAMBA - NELSEN - GIVET

HOILETT - J. JONES - PEDERSEN - OLSSON

M.B. DIOUF - KALINIC

I'd be happy with any combination of Roque, MB Diouf, Kalinic and Benjani up front (apart from Roque - Benjani). And I think as long as J. Jones is fit enough the rest of the team picks itself.

3-1.

Christ, Meron's an idiot yes but you're making us sound like we're Barcelona

They're not all goalkicks, if we get a free kick in our own half we still hit most of them long, sometimes Robbo takes them but more recently under Kean, Nelsen has done this. The only fault I have with what Merson said in his match preview is this,

"Those assets will mean constant pressure and the ball will keep going into the Wets Brom penalty area."

I'm actually quite worried, Sky Sports, Merson and Lawro all predict us to win

Must say its sad to see so many unsold seats via the online service for a game priced at just £10

Att: 24,500

Thats down to Venky's, Kentaro and Steve Kean, doing absolutely nothing to stimulate the local public's imagination.

Aye, but you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.. Sunday televised game against unfancied / unglamorous opponents, chilly weather and our team whose form is at best patchy... hmm, to me it has the potential to be an all round kick in the cojones (but I will be there anyway).

The club has been working hard on local promotion of the game (I've had 3 emails and 2 texts) and this year's classic film theme continues to amuse..

This game represents an enormous opportunity for us.

It is the only game in the Premier League tomorrow so will have the eyes of the world on Ewood Park. West Brom's last game v Blackpool was by common consent one of the best in the PL this season so with the new style being played by Rovers, this is the perfect match to change perceptions of the club.

Rovers should win but we have to remember WBA were more injury hit than they are now and were critically without Chris Brunt at the Hawthorns. Even so, if you hid the scoreline and looked at the stats that day, West Brom were in the ascendency on every other figure that mattered.

It will also looks like an opportunity for both clubs to take points to escape the lower reaches as every club below WBA (except West Ham at Everton) is facing a big six club this afternoon and are unlikely to gain ground during our inactivity.

Looking forwards to seeing Jones passing in their half and to seeing RSC and Kalinic together.

Some interesting BBC stats:

• Blackburn have had a player sent off in the last three Premier League games against West Brom.

• Rovers have lost all nine games in which they conceded the opening goal this season. They are the only one of the 92 league clubs in England to have taken no points from a game where they have gone behind.

• Blackburn have conceded 12 goals in the 15 minutes just after half-time, more than any other team in this period.

• Rovers have scored eight goals from corners, more than any other team in the top flight. And West Brom have conceded eight goals from corners, the joint-highest in the Premier League along with Aston Villa.

So here's hoping we serve up an absolute classic, and take 3 points.

Qualify that to the eyes of the football world and global media coverage.

Fiorgive me if I am wrong but I am not aware of a single country anywhere in the world not carrying their usual Sunday 15.00 GMT PL football show because it is Rovers v West Brom.

Despite all the optimism generated by all the links with numerous players from all over we have only 2 facts to consider:

*we have 7 points from the last 18.

*we have 2 new players only, both on loan.

So lets forget Europe and all the showbiz razzamataz and get 3 bloody points anyway we can, pretty or not.

Congratulations you have just won the talking complete bollo* of the year award. Apart from games against the big boys all of our televised games struggle to fill up Ewood.

I agree Philip especially as the two studio guests are Ian Holloway and Big Sam!! Will make very interesting viewing. Another reason to record the game before I set off for ewood! I wonder how Sam will address us as Blackburn, Us or the Home Team!

Ooh this IS indeed exciting!

On an aside note, it sounds like Ewood will be pretty full tomorrow. I rang up for two extra tickets and they struggled to find me two together in JW stand :D
