Benjimino Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 I dont think it will be Venky's, it just doesn't add up as a good idea financially. I do think it will be a foreign sponsor though, perhaps Asian. Venky's could offer it as part of a business deal to a company from their neck of the woods, and I'm pretty sure just about any company would grasp the opportunity to have their name on a PL shirt. I had never heard of Chang beer before Everton had it on their shirt. A similar sort of thing could happen?

Hughesy Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 According to Tom Finn and Greg Coar, Rovers never had and never would publicly release this information (I asked Tom directly) and press reports of sponsorship values are wildly inaccurate. Ah thats good....good job it didnt come 'publicly' then eh....but its correct Tom said that we'd had contact with some big names (but wouldn't elaborate), but wouldn't even hint whether it was brand of particular prominence in India (I personally suspect it will be). To be honest id be shocked if they knew about who we are likely to go with - I expect Kentaro to be advising on this one. Tom confirmed my own belief that we still have several years to run with Umbro (which originally came from an Umbro presentation at the club around 12 months ago). Still, I love a good "Stanley's kits are made by Nike" thread, so don't let that get in the way. Think we signed up with them for 07-08 on a 4 year deal...so unless thats changed, im sure that deal is up too. As for the Nike arguement - it may be a nice tick that people like but they wont pay us anywhere near as much.
Backroom Tom Posted February 6, 2011 Backroom Posted February 6, 2011 Tom also said the figures that get mentioned are asolute maximums and are heavily condition based, I imagine league position and amount of games on TV are factors. Umbro is definitely 2016 though which I'm glad about.
Kandevil Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Some thoughts on the shirts here and a few mock-ups too: New Sponsor for Blackburn Rovers in 2011/12
Iceman Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 what is Cobra? an Indian company, or what do they specialise in?

chaddyrovers Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Here is three possible indian sponsors. http://www.football-shirts.co.uk/fans/new-sponsor-for-blackburn-rovers_10015 I prefer the Cobra shirt sponsor.
67splitscreen Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Are they not trying to ban alcohol advertising of shirts?, I know in some countries this has already been implemented on children's replica kits. Last year for Carlsberg I believe.
rog of the rovers Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Heard rumours from a mate of mine with connections in India, about a deal with Reliance communications.
Steve Moss Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 ^ wouldn't be too bad. Reliance Communications has a very respectable logo, though I lack the computer skill to link to the image.
deftangel Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Given we seem to be after a stack of Brazillian players as a marquee signing and that Venkys are "big in Brazil" perhaps it'll be a Brazilian company? I guess Sepultura are out of the question
old darwen blue Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 what is Cobra? an Indian company, or what do they specialise in? mmmmmmmmmmmmmm Cobra
Hughesy Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 ^ wouldn't be too bad. Reliance Communications has a very respectable logo, though I lack the computer skill to link to the image. LT say Venkys are close to announcing new deal, but no ideas of who with.
67splitscreen Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Would love it to be Volkswagen India. The car industry in India is having a boom and is one of the largest in the world and with at least one of our owners love for anything on four wheels it would not surprise me, most of the big guns in the automotive industry have plants over there and quite a few around Pune, VW, GM, Mahindra and Tata. My personal affection to air cooled VW's would make them the icing on my shirt. Someone like to put the VW logo on shirt, just for me.

67splitscreen Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Well.... There's always Wolfsburg or Mexico's Puebla for you At least Puebla play in similar colours but doubt being an armchair fan would be to my liking.
Iceman Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Ferrari, Jaguar, Rolls Royce, Mercedes Benz i think most important for this season is to stay in the league, next season could be a big year for us.
67splitscreen Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Ferrari, Jaguar, Rolls Royce, Mercedes Benz i think most important for this season is to stay in the league, next season could be a big year for us. Jaguar = Tata Motors.
brian_gallagher85 Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 We could give everyone in the squad a different make and model if it is Tata
chaddyrovers Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 I think that the Cobra logo is the best one imo. Suits the shirts and will stand out! I do not have a problem if the new shirt sponsor is from India or asia. It is where the grow in world's economy. Makes financial sense to me.
