I noticed someone mentioned Simon Vukčević before. Oklahoma my good scholar, I know you're always keeping us up to tabs on Portuguese football news and possible availability's. Have you heard if there's anything in that? I've always been impressed the few games i've seen him in.

Lee Dixon just said Hoilett is very Fabregas like on MOD2.

Silly comparison, just like Kean comparing Formica to Batigol was.

If RSC really means he wants to finish his career her then surely he has to face taking a pay cut too. I really hope he stays fit until the end of the season, he's our best striker by far at the moment. We could do with a playmaker, and I agree with people that we should try a bid for Kranjcar. Vukcevic I've only seen once and he looked very good, though I recall him being pretty slow.

Bati was a long distance shooter.. I can see the comparison there..

RSC is a typical roman cath (RC).. superstitious, needy and loyal too a fault (RC myself) he followed his manager too MC (who then bought half a dozen strikers).. and is now back at the club where he feels his luck lies. Will do his best for us, and I reckon he will take a decent cut too join.

Kean is looking for that playmaker, he has sorted the rest of the stripe down the middle... which is obvious..

As for formica.. still does my head in lol

Vukcevic's situation in Sporting lisbon is not very good.

He is not a first team player but he is loved by the fans. He also had some problems with his beahaviour but that seems sorted out.

Sporting Lisbon need to make money if they want to buy players. And Vukcevic is always one of the players that is mentioned in a possible transfer.

However, Sporting Lisbon's president resigned last week and that can stop all transfers this month, since the new board will only be elected in march.

I think he can addapt well to Premier league and I have suggested him for Rovers for a long time now.

Seeing Santa Cruz back in the blue and white halves was really pleasing. He was one of my favourite players when he was here and seeing him play for us again just reminded me how good he can be and made me feel as though he was right at home. I am a fan of stability and if we could keep the quality players we have at the club long-term and keep helping them progress, as the club progresses as well, I will be really happy.

Some berk behind me today booed his name when the team was read out....presumably he did that with Hendry, Berg & Dunn & won't celebrate when he scores....

Anyone pick-up on the Arsenal / Samba link from the MOTd2 pundits ?

I'm sure they weren't taking the p1ss after an absolute awesome performance from our captain.

This is one my big fear that he goes.

Nicko's got a story up saying Liverpool won't pay more than £5m for Charlie Adam. The latest one doing the rounds in Blackpool fans is that Adam gets a percentage as a "loyalty payment" if he's sold without putting in a transfer request - won't happen if he wants to force that move. Oyston wants to come out of the deal with £6m for the club, which makes their asking price about 6.5-7. If Liverpool won't budge and Adam makes his situation at Blackpool untenable, we could still swoop in at the end of the window and offer both sides a way out...

Samba contract talks due to happen tomorrow according to Nicko -

Nicko made it clear on here last week - Samba had his contract talks last week....the new article is basically highlighting that he is likely to sign a new deal in the next 24 hours.

Next up sign up Hoilett please Kean....Forget Roberts, he doesnt need a new deal!

Meanwhile from Nicko - Adam wants Liverpool move

Absolutely. Roberts needs to be sold, not given a new contract.

Hoilett and Olsen is where we should be focusing our attention, after locking down Samba and Nelson.

I watched this guy closely today and was not impressed. IMO, certainly not box to box and on this evidence, not a great range of passing skills; also, looked one pace and prone to the rash challenge - how the hell we got away with the penalty that wasn't, I'll never know.

Not as good as Nzonzi and I'm certain we could do better.

I don't know as a fact that you are a dingle........

But if you are not then I wish you were.............................

Just seen how many posts you have made in such a little time.........

What got me about Niko's Adam article is Liverpool's 19 million package to get Luis Suarez. If Venkys want a South American marquee signing, there he is in spades. And he is 23 years old, which means he'll keep his value for a bit, and effective (35 goals in 33 matches this season).

It was just Lawro having his normal pot shot at us. "That was a great bit of skill he would fit in well at Arsenal"

Is it a crime to actively participate on a MB ? Is it a crime to have and express an opinion ?

I respect your right to express an opinion, even though I may not agree with it, and I certainly do not get 'personal' with anyone.

I noticed that and thought it was strange. Id put him more in the Aaron Lennon mould. It really is fantastic how much he seems to have progressed in the last month or so (since kean too over).

Please don't tell me your another one?

Do you, deep down, honestly, believe that is even slightly viable? From Venkys perspective? The clubs perspective? The players perspective?

Anybody else noticed Nicko hasn't done an 11 o'clocker in a while? I knew Kamy stealing his lime light doing his own 11 o clockers was a bad idea!

A big name is one thing. A big name who would go to Blackburn is different. Liverpool have a bit of cash, as do we, but that is where the similarities end. They can attract a Torres/Luis Suarez etc. Whereas we cannot. Its not about ambition as much as reality. Suarez with his whole career ahead of him is not the same as an ageing Riquelme or a Ronaldinho who is also past his best (not that i'd complain for a second if they had arrived).

What is clear is that, given Nzonzi and Brett's return plus our upturn in form, we dont desperately need to spend as much as it appeared at the beginning of the window. One more signing would constitute the window being a success in my opinion.
