[Archived] Transfer Window Part 5

Recommended Posts

At the risk of sounding like one of the moaners is there any positive news of late regarding transfers Nicko? I believe if Samba pens a new deal then January will have been hugely successful for Rovers. I would still love to see Rochina brought in however, or any of the other targets we may have been linked with. Seems to have gone a little quiet lately as we're moving ever closer to the end of the window. Is there likely to be an exciting deadline day for us? Or is it still too early to tell?

Larsson and Rochina should be Rovers players next season - whether they are by the end of the window depends how far the club is willing to push it just now.

Diouf will go to West Ham if they ever get the money to buy him rather than think they can get him for nothing.

Perhaps if Larsson comes it could mean Diouf goes cheaper and sooner.

If you ended up with Roque, Jones, Larsson and Rochina in it would be a worthwhile window without breaking the bank. You certainly need more than the current two.

Samba staying would be a financial decision by all concerned.

And as it stands it will be Coyle who is referred to as the 'New Keano' ^_^

Let's not get carried away.

Decent? When did you last see Rovers play that much football in a game before yesterday? Remarkable turn-around. Better still considering the problems that come with a regime change. Out-piggin-standing.

Decent start in terms of results. Performances have been more attacking and expansive than ever under Allardyce.

Kean has let the transition from Sam to post-Sam take place as good as one could imagine. 3-1-3 record isnt great but during a season when most teams dont have that kind of record in their run of games, it has edged us higher up the table, closer to Europe than relegation. Lots of work to be done but its been a decent start for sure.

Three wins, one draw, three losses throughout the season (as in from start to finish) would see a team end with over fifty points. Not great but good.

Does anyone know how it usually works with loan deals - is the potential permanent signing fee already built into the deal or is this (the fee) discussed/negotiated at a later stage?

Whilst all things look good at the moment, once these loan deals have expired we are not left with much attacking quality plus the combined cost of these signings, inclusive of wages (Cruz/Jones/Diouf) would be pretty hefty to say the least.

Nicko Any news on Larson?? he seems about our only chance of an actual signing this window??

It's down to Birmingham City. He is their 'problem.'

Got to say Larsson never got me too excited as a player. The way Hoilett is playing makes me wonder just how badly he is needed.

Hoilett's form is as big a revelation as anyone's in the Premier League - apart from Bonnie PC.

Very disappointing from Charlie Adam.

He knows Blackpool have a great chance of staying up with him and a big chance of going down without. Why can't he just hold out until the summer?

You also know, that it would be one less team to worry about. Makes the opposition weaker, and helps us should it come down to a relegation battle. Not that we will be relegated, but rather him going to Liverpool, than to say West Ham or Birmingham

Quite a few people on here simply looking (maybe hoping) for failures in this transfer window to jump on the 'Venkys are bad news' bandwagon.

Is it the new owners fault if we don't manage to tie up a complex deal for Formica or if Charlie Adam decides to join Liverpool?

We don't really even need Sebastian Larsson, he wouldn't be prepared to sit on the Birmingham bench so why would he be any more comfortable on ours?

The best addition of all is Steve Kean and yesterday is evidence of that.

3-1-3 is a more than satisfactory return when you consider two of those losses were away at Chelsea and Sunderland.

Hoilett needs some competition, he will feel too comfortable right now. Keeps him motivated to push on, knowing that somebody else is waiting to pounce. Think Larsson can fill in as a central midfielder as well, so Gamst should be in danger as well.

Ive got some family who are birmingham season ticket holders and they would be glad to see the back of him. they told me, he never takes on players. rarely gets into the games apart when he takes free kicks and corners and is pretty bad going foward and defensivley. much rather have dale jennings from tranmere. very good prospect.

Good Point but i do feel that we need a dead ball specialist as Pederson may be forced out of the team in the not too distant future. Cant blame Adam for wanting to go Liverpool as he would have fit the set pieace criteria but like you said he head was turned as soon as they came in!

Jones is barely known in the US as far as I can tell, he's only recently started playing for the national team. I can't see any marketing potential in Demspey either.

From my observations, the "cool" players from an American soccer fan perspective is first Landon Donovan, then Michael Bradley and, a very distant third, Clint Dempsey.

Very disappointing from Charlie Adam.

He knows Blackpool have a great chance of staying up with him and a big chance of going down without. Why can't he just hold out until the summer?

Blackpool will be safe, he'll have less than a year to go on his contract, so the fee will be lower and wages higher.

And its morally the right thing to do.

When will there be a player who doesn't just think of himself

Wow. Perhaps you've forgotten that Blackpool tried to cheat Adam out of a bonus? Which Adam had to litigate to recover? Then wasn't Halloway quoted as saying they would not stay in Adam's way if the top 4 or Liverpool came knocking, only to have him reverse direction?

I'm obviously not Adam, but I wouldn't have a lot of loyalty to a club that allegedly tried to cheat me and then mislead me. I suspect that their protestations that we'll be fair to you in the summer, we'll look after you on the summer, we have your best interests at heart, etc... lack the ring of credibility at this point.

There is nothing immoral about Adam's behavior. The club is not looking out for him, so he'll look after himself. If the club wants to cast stones about the Adam saga, it should look into a mirror first. The old maxim it takes loyalty to get loyalty is very true.

My concern is that Hoiletts form is happening during this transfer window. Good for Rovers on the filed, but, If a big offer came in during the next few days, that would really test the current regime.

I noted from your write up in the Mirror today that you where impressed...especially since it looked like you had forgotten WBA where even playing until the last paragraph

http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-news/football/premier-league/transfer-rumours/4720/8/barcelona-midfielder-shock-target-blackburn?

Blackburn are poised to make a move for Barcelona's Victor Vazquez.

Midfielder Vazquez, 24, has struggled to command a regular first-team place at the Nou Camp and is keen to get his career back on track.

Blackburn boss Steve Kean is keen to strengthen his squad and has money at his disposal.

Vazquez is hoping to secure a loan move to Ewood Park until the end of the season with Blackburn then having first option on making the move a permanent one during the summer.

Using normal logic, it sounds reasonable that the chances of Blackburn signing Vazquez are higher now that we are losing out to formica. Whether Talksport used that particular logic, and just wrote that piece of an article as a result remains unknown.

Personally, I would welcome him! Dunn played well yesterday, but we need an alternative

I think Albion got more of a mention than that. Nice side to watch. Need some results. Hope they stay up but starting to wonder.
