[Archived] Transfer Window Part 5

Thing is, it may be noisy elsewhere but on the Rovers front, after all the talk and speculation, it would appear to be quiet. Now it might be like swans - all calm and serene on the surface but loads of activity going on just beneath, but there's only a week to go and we haven't got any of the supposed targets on a permanaent deal. We all know we could still do with another player or two. The manager seems to acknowledge it too but so far we don't seem to be doing anything about the gaps in our team. Hence why we feel it's a slow and quiet window. We're not the only ones, I know, but I think the build-up has made it harder to take

To be honest I don't see any real gaps in our team, simply areas where we could strengthen or provide competition for. A creative midfielder would be nice of course but it's not essential. We will not be relegated if we don't sign one, and I'd rather wait for the right player and the right price.

Your final sentence sums it up. Simply put things into perspective and don't get too carried away, whilst also not getting too down about it. You are aware that the fast paced start to the window filled you with optimism, now try and channel that optimism into getting behind the team. Look at the fact that when some of our injured players return, we will have a much stronger squad to choose from for a long time and the potential for even more new acquisitions in the Summer. We are 7th in the league as things stand.

I understand the want for certain things, but things won't all just fall into place straight away. There will be more windows than this one, and even so it is far from over anyway.

It's down to Birmingham City. He is their 'problem.'

Got to say Larsson never got me too excited as a player. The way Hoilett is playing makes me wonder just how badly he is needed.

Hoilett's form is as big a revelation as anyone's in the Premier League - apart from Bonnie PC.

Yeah, I'm not Larsson's biggest fan either. Right sided version of Pedersen in my book. Do we really need two lightweights uin the team.

The West Ham winger ....... Pablo Mouche ..... waiting for his EU passport to come through according to My link ......... although he says it's a loan deal.

Same guy who last week said that Formica had just been bought by the investment company after his deal with Genoa failed and was due to fly in for talks with us, then the RSB fiasco broke the following day.

Just heard holloway moaning on the radio about adam. It's as if he doesn't understAnd football. Clown. Nicko, who is the winger? So are we saying larsson is on for us. ?

What are you talking about? He's absolutely correct. It's great to see a manager being vocal and sticking up for a smaller club. All too often clubs simply accept that they can't hold onto their best players and the media and supporters of other clubs just expect the player to leave, it is great to see them trying to hold onto him and trying to get a proper fee for him. If he played for Rovers there is no way that we would want him sold for £4 million. My own opinion is that he is a flash in the pan and is overrated, but that doesn't mean that he current market value is only 4-5 million.

Best of luck to them and I hope that they end up screwing 6-7 million out of Villa or Liverpool.

Vincente..

http://www.clicklancashire.com/sport/blackburn-rovers-fc/128903-blackburn-rovers-target-valencia-winger-vicente.html?

According to reports Valencia winger Vicente is interesting Blackburn Rovers.

The People claims Rovers boss Steve Kean is looking to bring Vicente to the Reebok in the summer.

The 29-year-old’s contract finishes at the end of the season and Kean reckons his experience could be invaluable.

Vicente has been capped 38 times by Spain and captains his club, but has yet to be offered a new deal.

Shame Click seem to have a problem with Lancashire teams and their home grounds.

Hey I'm not moaning. And perhaps gaps wasn't the right word but there are areas where we could do with better cover. There aren't many players to come back now who will make a real difference, as we don't really want Andrews to have to play, Grella has never, even when fit, convinced me and Jones is still a fair way off and we don't want to rush him as he's young and we want no long term damage, which can occur if he's brought back too soon. Emerton returning might be ok if he's fit and not too exhausted depending on how far the aussies go. I don't want us to rush out spending money on players we don't need just for the sake of it. However, we have to take into account the possibility of future injuries and there are areas such as left and right back where we are now short of cover (right back eh - how many did we have recently?)and the manager has spoken about his wish to bring in a couple more players if possible. As for chanelling my energies into supporting the team - what do you think I do? Yes, we're 7th at the moment and yes, I enjoyed much of Sunday's performance, but 7th will be hard to hold onto and there were plenty of times yesterday when I thought we could have done better. We still managed to give West Brom plenty of oppotunities to come back into it and lost our way a bit as players tired towards the end of the game, especially the 2 new recruits who are not match fit. If new players don't come in, I won't be tearing my hair out but I'd still like the little frisson of excitement you get from another signing if possible.

Constant back tracking and hypocracy, and its as if he is the first manager in the history to have to protect a player from suitors and the press, pitting himself up against them like a brave warrior. He believes his own hype and is,trying to create a persona, but without any achievements.

The man is dismal

I'm sorry but you're wrong.

"Without any achievements?"

That was the statement where you lost all credibility.

I too like Emerton at right back. Always performs well there. Another one I'm looking forward to seeing with the 'shackles' off. Still a bit gutted Keano didn't pursue Russell Martin. I think we're ok on the left. Good options. I think we have enough as it is. Obviously more in won't hurt. It's all good.

He seems to put himself up there with the best. However all he has to his name is a play off win.

Whilst I can understand Adam wanting to go to Liverpoo, big club etc etc I don't really see where he would fit in there - with Gerrard, Meireles, Joe Cole et al he would spend more time with his bum on the subs bench than not.

And don't Spurs just get right up yer nose!!! they think they only have to mention an interest in someone for them to up-sticks and join them.. Robbo I think would tell them where to go!

Wouldn't swap him for many keepers in the prem so they can get lost. Robinson was in many ways the perfect signing. Brad was fantastic for us but had peaked and was only going one way. Brought in robbo for about the same money but years younger and he's been fantastic since.

Indeed.

There were quite a few voices on here saying he was anything but perfect.

Another one to add to my list:

When talking Andrews or Grella people remember Ince. Robbo was the only good signing by him.
