I'm with you on that. He has already taken them to court and now they are preventing his (dream?) move to Liverpool.

If he is at Blackpool on Feb 1st, I don't think he will be half as good. This could end up massively backfiring.

Who wants to sign for Holloway? He keeps you against your will!

Unless he feels he is now in an adversarial relationship with management, inclusive of Halloway, and his morale suffers as a result. I think Blackpool is playing a dangerous game.

It's a chance worth taking. If he does nose dive then they'll still get clubs offering £3 or £4m in the summer anyway.

I didn't even think of that. His promises of we'll look after you, would never stop you from pursuing your dreams, if one of the Big 4 or Liverpool come knocking we won't stand in your way, etc... may not be given any further credence with potential future prospects. 14 million for Adam? In my opinion, that's more than twice what he is worth, especially considering "Inflate My Players Value" Redknapp seems to think Kranjcar is worth 5 million.

It depends. Personally if I was refused a chance to triple (quadruple?) my wage and move to Liverpool. I would be furious. What if Kenny doesn't get kept on and the new guy doesn't want him?

He could be a very destabilising influence. Especially if he is respected in the team (it certainly seems like he us highly respected)

adam owes blackpool. they were the ONLY club to come in for him.

he should suck it up, collect his wages and move in the summer.

if liverpool wont wait, it tells its own story that he wont get a game next season if they are going after better targets

surely Adams is to Blackpool what Samba or Robinson is to Blackburn.

would we accpet 4 million? would we accpet 6 million.

Infact he is more important then either Samba or Robinson becuase we have more depth.

problem is he has not proved himself for long enough to warrent a bid over 10 million.

Blackpool are in a lose lose situation at the moment.

I thought that it was a contractual obligation that people in the real world have to honour unless there are adequate compensatory terms for the affected party.

Oyston is not exactly renowned for being flexible and that is an understatement.

I should imagine Holloway is a stubborn old mule when he wants to be.

Blackpool are looking at missing out on £25m minimum even with the new parachute payments if they see Adam as the difference between staying up and going down this season. And with 28 points, they probably only need 4 wins in their last 16 games to achieve survival and Adam on his own is capable of getting one or two of those wins. On that basis they are not joking when they tell Liverpool to stick a 1 in front of their transfer bid number.

Fascinating stand-off and as we are at deadline day -6, Adam needed to be at this stage a couple of weeks ago as time is definitely not on his side.

Anyway it seems Liverpool have just as big a headache with Ajax and Suarez (and Babel has gone) so Adam might not even be their highest priority.

Not to rain on anybody's parade but there is zero indication we ever had any money earmarked for Adam so I very much doubt we will be going in for Kracjar. Our only offer to buy anybody appears to have been £500k for Larsson when other clubs were bidding three times that amount.

If this is the case, would explain our 'perceived tactics'!

IMO, Brum, Villa & L'pool have been enormously disrepectful to Blackpool by offering derisory sums of £2.5, 3 & 4m. Wonder what Kenny's reaction would be if someone offered say £12 to £15m (about half his value)

for Torres !?!

Even Adam is forced to stay at Blackpool I don't see how playing poorly is going to help him. If he wants to keep the likes of Liverpool interested until the summer then he has to keep up his form.

Blackpool are doing absolutely the right thing, £4/£5 million is an insulting offer.

It's not whether or not it's best for him. It's whether he can bring himself to put his heart and soul into performing for Blackpool if he perceives an injustice.

There is very little guarantee that Liverpool will come back in for him anyway. He must recognise this.

It could be inspired or bloody minded stupidity. Time will tell.

I would venture that is an astute observation given that they have Gerrard and the chap who scored that volley at the weekend in addition to the over-reliance on Torres being an obvious weakness for some time.

Still perhaps that'll mean he's available for a more sensible fee in the summer.

Aye but how much of what he's said could boil down to getting the fans back on his side?

Then again, he wouldn't be here if he didn't want to be. I suppose it's quite humble of him to return when other clubs would have presumably snapped him up (even with the high wages).

Anyway, I was getting at the fact that if we'd have wanted to sign him this window it may have been difficult to negotiate his wages down in such a short space of time. By giving him games and his football back he may be much more willing to take a pay cut in summer. I was just saying that signing him this window was probably more difficult than offering a loan deal because I can't imagine us offering him what he's on at city if we do move in to sign him in summer.

Not saying which way is right or wrong and we'll never know.

I realise you aren't disagreeing per se.

Fair point, never though of it like that.

One of the only things that is slightly worrying about this new era is the wage structure. There's going to be quite a number of players on new contracts and I just wonder whether we'll be pushing our average contract size up and above 50k. Seems a little dangerous to me with our relatively low income.

I suppose if the owners want to keep our best players, attract a better standard and ultimately compete for Europe on a regular basis then it's a bit of a necessity. Just the bright lights are scary for us small town folk.

Why? If he had waited someone else would have come in for him.

The only thing I would say is he signed a contract and should honour that but that premise seemingly doesn't exist in football thesedays.

Blackpool will do very well out of this deal and end up with a lot more than he is worth to Liverpool but he is worth it to the Blackpool team.

Blackpool's fee demands are a trifle high...shall we say.

They are, agreed. But Blackpool's survival is worht approximately twice Holloway's current valuation, no? As a Rover supporter I am bothered by Blackpool's stance as Adam is a player I covet--- but I would hope our management would put up a similar fight if the shoe was on the other foot.

Still think we could pop a 5 million bid in for Adam and see what happens. He might want to leave Blackpool more than his desire to play for Liverpool.

We could put ourselves in the hunt at least.

I personally like what I see of Charlie Adam. He's a decent, strong minded footballer. But I don't think he's worth 5 million to anyone, except Blackpool, let alone the 14 million demanded by Halloway.

For 5 million I'd rather have Kranjcar. He's less expensive, his owners will put up less of a fuss to the transfer, he's of comparable age and comparable goal scoring (and does it without the team being built around him), has a proven pedigree as opposed to Adam's comparatively recent renaissance, and, in my opinion, is more creative. Finally, he's a member of the Croation national team, familiar with Kalinic and would doubtless partner well with our young Croat. In short, he'll improve the team and may improve the performance of others on our team, increasing the anticipated dividend.

So to the extent that one fan's opinion can influence Venkys' writing checks, please Balaji, open your checkbook. We would have a real shot at 6th with someone of his caliber in the squad.
