callumrovers Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rub%C3%A9n_Rochina I know anyone can edit it, but still.... "On the 26th of January 2011 he agreed to a contract with Blackburn Rovers for a reported fee of £1 million. The low fee was caused by his refusal to sign a new contract with Barcelona, and with his contract running out he would have been able to leave for nothing in the summer. Rochina was Steve Kean's first full signing since taking over as a Blackburn manager."

Oklahoma Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 To get Vukcevic there is a major issue: Sporting Lisbon's internal affairs. Their president resigned, they will have elections in March and even though they need to sell, maybe the board won't risk that now...

Their president resigned, they will have elections in March and even though they need to sell, maybe the board won't risk that now... I see, but it seems as though we're looking at him... What's the guy like in your opinion, in terms of his play style? (I assume you've seen him play a bit)
True Blue & White Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 But why are we talking about Charlie Adam and his posible transfer to Liverpool? Might as well discuss the Luis Suaraz situation. ...oh yeah, I forgot Adam is desperate to join Rovers and Liverpool are just setting the prices for us
sweet Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Daily Mail reporting that the turkish side are prepared to offer 3m to land Diouf. Just hope the reason we want a fee for Diouf isnt just so that we are able to up our bid for larsson. Surely we can afford him?!
Oklahoma Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 I see, but it seems as though we're looking at him... What's the guy like in your opinion, in terms of his play style? (I assume you've seen him play a bit) He is one of the best players in Sporting, can score and plays all over the attacking midfield. He plays best as a forward, behind the striker or as a left attacking midfielder. He probably wants to leave as well and Sporting have other players to sell... Daily Mail reporting that the turkish side are prepared to offer 3m to land Diouf. Just hope the reason we want a fee for Diouf isnt just so that we are able to up our bid for larsson. Surely we can afford him?! Maybe we want a fee because he is a Rovers players with 18 months left in his contract and we are not rich so we need all the money we can get. I would sell him for less lol
Iceman Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 3mill for Diouf? I would bite their hand off, and then spit can be released
Steve Moss Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 EHD has been a loyal and faithful servant of the club. He deserves our respect as a player, if not his off the field activities (which he should be given the benefit of the doubt on). That said, 3 million is more than fair, regardless of how they want to structure the payments, so I hope Kean takes it ASAP.

You mean we've given him lots of money and he's stuck around?

Diouf has certainly done better at Rovers than I and I suspect many others thought he would. However, he slows down play and that does not seem to be what the manager wants. His ball retention and winning of free kicks late on in games could still be a plus for us, but if a club is prepared to pay a decent fee, his departure would free up wages and this could be important to us as we cannot sustain high levels of wages to players we don't play regularly, especially if we are renewing contracts for important players and there are regulations about wages to turnover or whatever coming in in Europe. I too would bite off the hand of anyone offering 3 million or anything like that
Iceman Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Thats a bit harsh Eddie. I can name a few, who are always injured and get paid lots of money. Diouf, has at least been fit and done well when given a chance.
Steve Moss Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Loyal and faithful? You mean we've given him lots of money and he's stuck around? Yes. Let's compare his behavior to Samba's, for example. I haven't heard of EHD lobbying for a move, unlike our team captain. EHD has abided by his contract, which is rare in self-centered, egotistical footballers (which they are, as a class with certain exceptions). Diouf has certainly done better at Rovers than I and I suspect many others thought he would. However, he slows down play and that does not seem to be what the manager wants. I agree. EHD has done better than expected but it is time to move on. While we're moving on, however, we shouldn't forget that we are the ones doing the moving. EHD has dealt with us fairly and we shouldn't be (metaphorically) kicking him in the process. Again, with that said, we should take the 3 million and run.
Oklahoma Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 I agree with Eddie. He is doing his job and he is paid well to do it. £3 million would be great...
RoverMad86 Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 £3 million sounds a bit low. Maybe put a 1 infront of it.
Eddie Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Yes. Let's compare his behavior to Samba's, for example. I haven't heard of EHD lobbying for a move, unlike our team captain. EHD has abided by his contract, which is rare in self-centered, egotistical footballers (which they are, as a class with certain exceptions). Not that I agree with how Samba has behaved, but the difference is that EHD will have realised that he is earning fair market value, or, in my opinion at least, well above that. He knows that it is unlikely that any move would see him get more money and that he is getting a good deal sticking around here. Samba, rightly or wrongly, believes that he could make more elsewhere and that is why he wants to move. He has been shown to be correct as we have offered him a better deal. It all boils down to money. Very few footballers show true loyalty.
chris Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 If I was a footballer I wouldn't be loyal, fans are all the same, they love if you play well but if you don't, they couldn't give a toss. Leave one club the fans hate you but you go to another to more adoring fans, same faces different shirts. I'd be a right football slag.
ricsipontaz Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 I know there is January and we don't want spend much money. But I think if we can buy (or loan) a good creative midfielder, we can finish the season higher. But I don't see any creative midfielder in the targets, just strikers (Rochina), wingers (SWP) and other types. Why?
bluebruce Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Thats a bit harsh Eddie. I can name a few, who are always injured and get paid lots of money. Diouf, has at least been fit and done well when given a chance. That just means he is match fit and isn't a slacker on the pitch (though I remember a patch last year where he was). It doesn't mean he is loyal. And it's not like clubs have been battering our door down until now, as far as we know. Even if they were, it would have been Allardyce keeping him here, not Rovers.
budha Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Not that I agree with how Samba has behaved, but the difference is that EHD will have realised that he is earning fair market value, or, in my opinion at least, well above that. It all boils down to money. Very few footballers show true loyalty. If Kenny Miller is getting £50k/w tax free in Turkey, surely EHD would get a similar kind of deal which would be a huge pay rise - even if he would be on £50k/w here, £50k/w at Turkey would double his net salary.
Torgeir Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 I know there is January and we don't want spend much money. But I think if we can buy (or loan) a good creative midfielder, we can finish the season higher. But I don't see any creative midfielder in the targets, just strikers (Rochina), wingers (SWP) and other types. Why? We were chasing Adam. We were chasing Formica. We are scouting Vuckovic. All creative midfielders. There are probably other names on a list somewhere too, we'll just have to wait and see whether Kean signs somebody or not. £3m for Diouf??? Goodbye! Definitely. Wouldn't let him leave on a free though, he's been performing well this season.
True Blue & White Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 We were chasing Adam. No we were lurking in the bushes, watching other teams chase him hoping we could pop out and steal their kill.
nicko Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 The Diouf to Turkey thing won't happen. It's more likely he will stay in the Prem. As for £3 million? Not in this lifetime. He could have a couple of clubs here if he was free. Or even cheap. But that valuation just does not exist. There is nothing in the SWP stuff either. Rovers won't be buying him and they can't loan him. So scrub that thought. Interesting to see if Larsson plays tonight or not. Probably not. In which case - and they lose - he may be on his way.
